Story time is probably by far the best thing in Warhammer nobody ever knew that needed it so much.
I’m just here for story time with Vince
+1
Yes! Would love a "recap all the lore of 3rd ed in 1 hour" type video. Vince's style and lack of patience for nonsense would match this really well
Totally
“I want to root for them, but they are too dumb to live” hahahaha. Story time getting better everytime
I would be so down for a second channel, concentrating on lore presented by Vince
When I started listening to this on my morning commute I was not expecting to be hit with a "dogs of the mortal realms" deep dive 😂
Answer: yes! Nagash shoves human souls into animals. It is mentioned that he creates obr horses like that as punishment .
Comment I came to make here :D
@@muhahahavlis2967Ditto, lol.
Yep, so he's just a weirdo. :)
I'm calling it, its just a fetish lol
Arkhan: You can't say that...
Mannfred: Yes you can.
Neferata: Yes you can.
I can totally hear the Rock music starting to play and suddenly, out of nowhere... DOOMFIRE WARLOCKS RIDE IN!
Like someone else said, even the OBR "animal" constructs are all human souls. It's a punishment to be reshaped as a bird or horse construct (or in this case a dog). Basically whoever ended up as that dog was a BAD BOI
Or all the dead hound-cosplayers from Claws of Karanak get turned into bone doggos. And they are happy forever.
And what do they find Tom?
....doomfire warlocks🤣
I could listen to vince and Tom cover the AoS stories for hours haha
Best part of this episode:
- Vince's snarky story time.
Worst parts of this episode / the book:
- Completely unrealistic river physics. (Totally agree with you Vince, this legitimately pisses me off.)
- Tom constantly tapping with his fingers on his desk close to a very sensible microphone. (Stop it!)
- The messiest warscroll combo set in all of third edition: Set of two separate, but linked warscrolls. That are both Heroes despite being multi-model units. One of them has a companion that is a physical model, but not an extra model of the unit. Lots of different weapon profiles. Special rules linked to specific models in the unit. And on top of that, special RoR rules if used as an ally. (Jeez, what a package.)
I'm always glad to see Vince and Tom bickering like an old married couple at the supermarket. I'd swear citadel washes would be getting spilt if these two were in the same room sometimes.
1. Would love to see horrible Skaven Warpcast that looks like three clanrats half fused with lightning coming out
2. Very excited to be heading to your TMM class next week Vince!
My biggest issue with the strongpoints is how some of those terrain features are not available anymore. Which also opens up a new problem with this system. Part of the hobby is building your own terrain and battlefield, and the way strongpoints are written that part of that hobby is taken away. Plus plastic terrain from GW is too expensive. My local shops has its own terrain used for all game systems I couldn't imagine them going through to build 10+ identical terrain pieces for tournaments or ask the players to bring their own. These terrain rules wont be adopted by the wider audience. It's purely for casual play.
Excelent point.
The wider audience is casual play, most people don't play in tournaments
@@NMahon I think my concern about a core part of the hobby being taken away is still valid. What they could have presented in the book is parameters for giving custom terrain pieces special rules like we already have with garrisoned or wyldwoods.
Hell, this book even gives rules to the GW objective markers! Which I don't think Vince mentioned. Not only is that unnecessary but that could have just been from a roll in a mysterious objective table. Instead it's all about specific GW plastic models in lieu of something we already, even as a casual player.
All in all this book comes across as an attempt to push GW plastic in a more cynical manner than usual.
I don't know about the theory that Sigmar secretly based his tech on chaos energy / warp lightning. That's *OLD SPOILERS* kind of the plot of the Horus Heresy, and I'd like to think they'd do better than rehashing that.
The black sun should be Malerion taking the city into the shadow realm and turing all Phoenix Guard into the new dark elves!
I REALLY hope that 4th ed. changes the name to "Warhammer: Age of Steve"
The dog is the reason the Stormcast guy has five wounds basically. In the companions unit
Ushorans blood obviously only works on rivers because the water is flowing duh.
The ocean is just like a big pool of still water
I ALWAYS hit like for story time! Great show as always.
I love that not a single content creator can pronounce Krethusa. Vince, Rob, Coach, Season of War. I’ve heard about a dozen different names at this point :) She of many names.
Months ago William King and Nathan Long woke up in cold sweats and couldn't figure out why...
I don't get your issue with OBR pet ;) bone dog is necessery to fetch bones...
We need more storytime!! Also, how do we apply to be part of your Adepticon reaction party? I'm going to be there in full force for the tourney, and I love this show!
Regarding "sigmar lied" - in the Hamilcar novel, Ikrit (pretty obviously Ikit with a slightly different name) figured out how to reforge himself by experimenting on Hamilcar. There's probably an interesting narrative in there!
Also, engagement
Sounds like the Doomfire warlocks are from that Sabaton song
"And the Doomfire Warlocks arrive!"
Though considering Krethusa's out of turn movement shenanigans it's pretty ludonarratively concordant.
"Ridiing down the narrow tunnel side!"
@@TerrierHalo "Coming down Krethusa turned the tide!"
Wheel lady maybe something like Myrmydia the old Tilean/Estilean goddess of justice.
I will side with what Tom was starting to get at. Though we're a few editions removed from the "Only The Faithful!", I believe that blind zeal leading to martyrdom is enough of the DNA of a GW narrative that the metatext isn't completely unintentional
The doggo screams Warcry, and the base gives it away as well. Its too far out there for main OBR and thats not to say it couldnt happen. Its always been the very odd niche warbands and a boneshaper deciding to make a bone dog and possibly some other bone animals isnt far off from what we have had in Ghur. I wanna say the warcry reveal will be OBR vs Sylvaneth based on this model tease and the recent rumor engine with the little tree branch with bug hive. Both factions havent had a warband in Heart of Ghur yet so thats what Im putting my money on.
Yeah, OBR are the only Death faction without a WarCry warband so far. And Sylvaneth could use one as well.
@@starslayer2438 I didnt know that was the only death faction left. Yeah theyre definitely getting it then. Sylvaneth had that one warcry beast team idk how long ago in the previous editon, which oddly enough would have fit in heart of ghur more. It may look like GW are sticking with the trees this time, maybe leaning into bugs more as they have been doing for 3rd edition AoS which I approve of
Story time was legendary !
I am so up for a D&D show. I’m 4 years into playing in a weekly campaign, though not quite as disciplined as you, we’re pretty good
Also, I agree terrain rules from stay to narrative and fluffy systems like this or doubles. But it’s too much stuff for competitive. But I want written rules for my official GW terrain even if it’s only for casual games
Yey story time. Great story telling Vince
Or, that demon queen is the Shadow Queen....
Though that idea of Valkia as a greater daemon type character would be awesome!
I am excited about The Cromeseers Pariahs! ❤
The twin-tailed crusade is just Idiocracy: Warham edition
"it was a long discussion on something I thought was pretty stupid"
So... a discussion :p
As a forever GM i appreciate Vince's organizational style
You know, didn’t someone in a previous book ask if they saw the man in the lightning? I wonder if this is somehow tied to the lie.
Stormhounds aren't necessarily something that needs to happen as we have Gryph Hounds.
We also have the various hunting hounds.
And Chaos has long had Chaos Hounds. Vampire Counts have had a variety of 'Wolf' undead bits.
This skeletal 'dog' might be more of a callback to the Old World 'construct' type 'undead'.
Nobody expects Doomfire Warlocks.
More Skaven please! also "that's what a losers says Tom" solid burn.
Any initial disappointment I had due to this narrative being so much weaker than broken realms is long gone. Listening to Vince recount the tale in the best way anyone could possibly tell this story is absolutely worth losing what might have been.
The dog tangent had me actually laughing during my morning commute. And I am now constantly on the lookout for sneaky shirtless horsemen ready to throw down.
Unrendable with wards against MW would be good for Stormcast Faction rules imo. Then they would match their lore.
Loved story time as always :)
Glad you enjoyed!
Cauldrons of Blood are vulnerable to sepsis if you take them into the sewers.
Tom will be the Nepo-Daddy down the line if anything. 😉
I thought the teaser was completely boring TBH, like give us a bit more.
I want to see Ikrit get his own version of the Ratcast going!
Tinfoil hat time! The bolt of lightning in the trailer is IKIT CLAW. OMG. Put a pin in it boys.
Maybe this is Nagash's thematic punishment for mortal furries...
OOOHHH CIVILIZATION REFERENCE!!!! I knew I liked you Vince. I think I probably have around 20,000 hours in that series lifetime. Haven't played Ina while though. Might need to change that.
The 4th edition box can't be cities vs skaven because you can't have two suicidally stupid forces face off.
This is truth.
Nagash jammed human souls into the horse mounts if I remember right…
In the OBR lore, a failed soul who has let down Nagash go into the pony constructs in deathriders.
So basically the new bone dog is probably just a bunch of bad human souls being punished 😂
I think the Sigmar thing is most likely about the darkside of him & the reforging process. We could see some kind of new Warcraft DeathKnight style Paladin. Maybe a new Celestant Prime model too. Dawnbringers VI will definitely feature Lumineth i think & therefore prob Slaanesh as the Chaos force. Just my 2 cents!
Off topic but if I sent you an army list would you give me some feedback on it? I e just started some semi competitive tournament play
I'm not the right guy for that (also, if I started, it would never stop). My recommendations is the What's App groups and such focused more on competitive play, they should have good feedback for you.
Am I the only one secretly hoping Vince gets fired from his day job so we get 3 shows a week?
funny enough youd think he didnt have one with how much content he puts out a month on top of making games with Uncle Adam. Theres no way this man sleeps more than 6 hours a night haha
I genuinely thought this was his full time job.
Im taking a stand against indexes. ✊️
0.1% chance of balance when they write 25 armies over 6 months
50% chance of your army being bad until your tome finally releases (2 years later)
100% chance of fun rules getting axed (like bonesplitterz)
My source is I made it up.
You are likely in for great disappointment then...
While Vince-cation feels like the the dad joke route it would be preferable to my fear the sigmar lied thing is just pressing the lazy grim dark button
Also we either have ferries being stuffed into bone dogs, or the spirits of the dogs that drag their toys into a social gathering for a performance. Plus cleansing Glutous' taint .... shows going wild places
I see this as experimenting with terrain rules for 4.0 to make it meaningful. Mystic terrain is kinda ignored. Obviously 4th edition is probably already finished by now
I would buy stormcast if they had armored mastiff cav. 💯
Story time is best time!
Also, about the bone doggo - I can imagine that souls were put into this construct to be punished in this way. Weren't you loayal? From now on you will be a dog.
The bone dogs are obviously filled with cat souls.
I absolutely love story time. 😂
"No triumph and treachery" - but Vince, they've just added new triumph and treachery rules, didn't they?
On the Carthusa-ex-machina thing in the sewers: it's just like in Skyrim when you have a shortcut at the start of the dungeon to it's very end, but can't use it for some reason like a block of wood or whatever. So Toll and friends got through entirety of this dungeon, and Carthusa just used a convenient shortcut
Yes, I just meant exploring other multiplayer. :)
If we get a Sigmar Jr Heresy without first a game in a box that mentions there was a civil war 10 000 years ago because they could only afford one set of models in different colors I will be very very very very sad.
100% the Doggo from Bonereapers has human souls in it. The Glaivewraith Stalkers are hunters souls and made to look like beasts. These would I assume be something like trackers or rat catcher souls etc
I hit the like button and now i have a cat on my lap
Sigmar lied about not fighting? - Sigmar model coming?
They have rules out for baleful realmgates and they dont even sell them 😢
New lumineth are the fantasy E.P.A. ... Environmental Protection Aelves.
Nagash obviously gets the cat souls.
I did hit LIKE for storytime, just saying!
😂Vince, stop! OBR have bone horses too!
All dogs go to Shyish.
What if its chaos stormcast? The lie that stormcast are incorruptible
Worst of all worlds if you ask me.
A comment for the comment gods.
So, update time: I promoted my 13 yo son's TH-cam channel last week trying to get him to 1k subs (from 860ish). One of his short videos just hit 100k views & he's up to 1.6k+ subscribers. I don't know who all subscribed/shared his stuff, but thank you. You fulfilled a young content creator's dreams. Our community really is the best.
We're at 2k subs and still rising.
Aren't the OBR horses human souls who are being punished
The end times was a lie, the age of Sigmar was a dream and Bobby's there in the shower and now it's Stormcast and Skaven in the Old World 😂
So in the blacktalon novel theres a lie of Sigmar, so it really isn't the first time he lied.
The teaser wasn't "Sigmar lied.... ONCE" dude
Always enjoy gents but so many adds has the channel changed your advertising
It shouldn't be hitting that many ads, what was happening? How often were they occuring?
@@VinceVenturella hi Vince at the start of the show it was every 5 minutes probably 6 add then every 10 to 20 minutes I just thought you would want to know , this also happened on Robs show honest Wargamer the other day
@@julianankers1928 Yeah, that should definitely not be happening. I am going to have to look into that.
What's up with all the ads? 😮
It shouldn't be hitting that many ads, what was happening? How often were they occuring?
@@VinceVenturella at least a dozen times during the vid. Strange, normally there are almost none.
@@ThePlatypusRules Yeah, youtube went crazy there, I went in and edited them out to what they should be, 1/30 minutes.
Doesn't he put multiple souls in a obr so they'll have multiple skills to draw on? He doesn't just put a bunch of peasent souls in a guy and think that will be better than a stormcast soul.
I must confess I’m way behind on AoS lore. This seems like they want every single story to have an impact in the wider world.
Currently reading the Witch hunter series with Matthias Thulman from the old world. Superb story and characters without having to include the whole empire in peril nonsense!
Ok I need a conspiracy theory. I have been following warhammer lore for maybe 10 years; for the most part, I have found the writing to be mediocre at best. That said, the stories taken together and maybe filtered through a 3rd party commentator (luetin09) has created an awesome cannon. How does that work?
Gorewarden sucks in game and in narrative. Checks out.
Man I know Warhammer lore is often dumb but this latest stuff is pretty bad
Animals have souls.
But also with all the cities dogs in warbands lately. When obr kills them. Sigmar dont want dog souls. Who is there to claim them. Nagash!
Warcry box
Obr vs Sylvaneth!
Jeez this is some of the worst writing they've done and it was never real great to begin with. Some great moments but dang this is bad.
