Update. The answer to question 28 can be either Digital Video Disk or Digital Versatile Disk. My mistake, sorry. 🙃 What was the first DVD you bought? Can you remember?
Yeeesh...don't scare me like that! 😖 I always thought that it stands for Digital Versatile Disk but upon seeing your Solution i thought that i was wrong all these Years. 😅 "Thanks" for that Scare... 🤣
One of my most favorable things about the 90's was sleep and all that free time to play videogames. Now all I do is work and stay up late making up for time. lol
What I love(d) about the nineties is that there was an order associated with everything we did, whether it was the tempo in the music we listened to or the type of clothing we preferred..
Question 28: Digital Versatile Disk is arguably more correct than Digital Video Disk, even though Digital Video Disk isn’t entirely incorrect. (From Wikipedia) The Oxford English Dictionary comments that, "In 1995, rival manufacturers of the product initially named digital video disc agreed that, in order to emphasize the flexibility of the format for multimedia applications, the preferred abbreviation DVD would be understood to denote digital versatile disc." The OED also states that in 1995, "The companies said the official name of the format will simply be DVD. Toshiba had been using the name 'digital video disc', but that was switched to 'digital versatile disc' after computer companies complained that it left out their applications."[10] "Digital versatile disc" is the explanation provided in a DVD Forum Primer from 2000[11] and in the DVD Forum's mission statement. It’s also interesting that you went with Sorcerer’s Stone for the Harry Potter question, given that it’s called Philosopher’s Stone everywhere but the United States, and your accent would suggest you aren’t from the United States (though, to be fair, you could be)
Hi. Thanks for commenting and providing so much information. I agree on the DVD question, it could be either. I will put a note in the comments. For the Harry Potter book, I went with the US version as over 60% of my regular viewers are from the US, so that just made sense. Thanks for watching.😃
Only missed 3! (Darn you Vanilla Ice!) I grew up with a single mom who worked late, and was partially raised by afternoon Nickelodeon. Doug, Hey Dude, Salute Your Shorts, Arcade, etc. Still watch them sometimes at night if I'm feeling down. 😊
The Harry Potter question was technically wrong. It was originally "Philosopher's Stone" when it was released. It was renamed "Sorcerer's Stone when it was published a year later by Scholastic for the US market.
Still laughing at the three suggested names for the cloned sheep! lol...Molly, Dolly or Polly. Could have been Baa-Baa; Boo-Boo, and Bee-Bee - or Huey, Dewey, or Doomee? lol
I missed 4. Was thinking whether Halley's or Hale-Bopp came first (but was thinking Halley's was earlier than that... damn timer!), did not know the Lion King thing, or the Beckham thing, or the 90210 star in the Roy Orbison video. I would say this was easy, but I guess you had to be there.
As a British quiz it really is called ‘The Philosopher’s Stone’ it was only called ‘Sorcerer’s Stone as the US wouldn’t understand the correct terminology.
Woo hoo! For the first time, I got 100% correct. That includes my answer of ‘Digital Versatile Disc’. I saw the original documentary with the lead developer of the DVD, and he referred to it as such, so I knew it was the right answer.
One thing I miss about the '90s , is making money was easy and plentiful , and the cost of things back then , you got more than you paid for, nor like today , pay more get less.
Pearl jam was decent but they ushered in a group of shoe gazers that suck you know what. No good guitars no good vocals no good harmonies no good writing I can go on for days
Film? Terminator 2 Song? Depends what genre but Born Slippy by Underworld takes some beating. What did I like about 90s? Quite hedonistic really. Lots of fun with great music from Brit Pop to Dance. Was a feel good throughout most of the decade. Cold war ended. Travel became cheaper. Excellent decade.
29/35 here, after adjusting for the DVD one. 1990s were the decade I got married and had kids, also returned to university as a mature student and got my degree.
28/35 -- Not a great score, but I had a great time and really enjoyed this 90s quiz! What I loved about the 90s: graduating from university with a double-major in English and French Canadian literature.
Got all but 2 right, one was the monkey, I never watched Friends and the other was Amazon. Had a couple of lucky guesses, Rachel and the Titanic one, didn’t see Titanic either. The ‘90’s was the decade that I came of age, graduated, entered the job market, bought a car that I paid for myself, not parents hand me down, bought a house and finally six months before the end of the decade got married and later, found out that we were going to have a baby, that baby’s all grown up, same age as me when the decade started. Overall a great decade, lots of bachelor parties and weddings. Now, it’s turning into more funerals than weddings, but that’s life.
I know it's been talked about as US vs UK book name, but because it mentions 1997 the only possible right answer is Philosophers Stone as Sorcerer's Stone was published until 1998 in the US.
I actually don't think I've ever bought a DVD. I used the heck out of Netflix starting in about 1999 when there was a coupon at Circuit City I used to sign up. Still have the same account which is of course streaming now so I guess that marketing campaign to get me in the door has worked out well for them.
could you please say the answers out loud. I would listen to these all day while driving/working, but it would be so much better if I didn't ever have to look at my phone! Please!
Never watched 90210, or the Lion King, and what is a digital pet? Just guessed as to the first items sold on Amazon,an had no clue as to the cartoon show sonic. And the spice Girls. I never knew who was who😊 In that intelligence you 27/35. I liked this one also. 👍
Couple of things… DVD was digital versatile disk, and Mother Theresa didn’t help the poor; she was a cruel, self-aggrandising, greedy, criminal, monstrous sadist.
I didn't get many right, some questions are from TV series I didn't watch, some are from american adds and I'm not american and some I was too young to care so I don't remember.
I hated Ross having a monkey on friends because it wasn't realistic. They're wild animals. They bite and sling poop everywhere. I was afraid people would see it and buy one. Which is incredibly cruel. They love to rock and cuddle stuffed animals because they're traumatized by being taking away from their moms just after first feeding. Usually within an hour. Over 99% of people who buy them can't handle them and abandons them within 3 yrs. Over 90% within the first year.
Update. The answer to question 28 can be either Digital Video Disk or Digital Versatile Disk. My mistake, sorry. 🙃

Yeeesh...don't scare me like that! 😖
I always thought that it stands for Digital Versatile Disk but upon seeing your Solution i thought that i was wrong all these Years. 😅
"Thanks" for that Scare... 🤣
It was originally versatile disc. But the video disc came later in the confusion.
Girls Gone Wild
I don’t remember exactly the first DVD I bought, but I DO remember that I bought a PlayStation 2 as my very first DVD player!
Princess Diana was "killed"... Excellent choice of words!
I miss the early 90's. I was in my early 20's, working in my chosen field, and the future seemed bright.
One of my most favorable things about the 90's was sleep and all that free time to play videogames. Now all I do is work and stay up late making up for time. lol
Music! We were still innocent and free.
My favourite year from the nineties was 1993. I got married to the love of my life, and we’re still together. Great quiz. Thanks. - Dawn 🌅
Good for the both of you, congratulations. ❤
Awesome trip through memory lane.
What I love(d) about the nineties is that there was an order associated with everything we did, whether it was the tempo in the music we listened to or the type of clothing we preferred..
3:23 : No12 - None of the above because it's was Philosophers Stone for us in the UK.
Not only that, but the book wasn't published in the US until 1998 so Philosophers Stone is the only possible correct answer.
Blockbuster, Drive-In Movies, Toys'R'Us, n Arcades! First DVD I ever bought was Robocop. Missed alot of the latter 3 yrs. Joined the Marines in 97.

@@Quizzes4U Ah but the Sorcerer's Stone version didn't come out in 1997, it came out in 1998.
@@BigDavie2000 My bad.
I was about to mention about the DVD. I knew the V to mean Versatile. Good thing there is no prize to this quiz else I would have protested. 😁
Nice research Poindexter
STNG was my favorite 90s thing ... bringing back star trek!
1987
32/35 best memories... friendships
The two things I love most about the 1990s are entertainment and going on vacation to Ocean City, Maryland.
Amazing...
Only missed 3! (Darn you Vanilla Ice!)

Best film The Faculty, The Crow or I Know What You Did Last Summer. Best song Closer/NIN - Man in the Box/AIC or No Shelter/RATM. Love the 90's
Was The Crow the one where Brandon Lee died during filming?
@@Quizzes4U Correct. That's the one. RIP Brandon Lee
33/35. Like many other people on the Internet, I grew up in the 90s, so most of these were really easy.
The Harry Potter question was technically wrong.

You are right. My mistake, sorry, I went with the wrong version. 😬
Tomato/Tomatoe. It’s recognized as both.
Harry Potter and the Cancelled Scribe
@@originalbrat you only add the e when it's plural.
I should have read through the comments before I said the same thing.
Only missed three! Not bad! Fun quiz, thanks
As a 90s kid as myself I have miss about 80% of those questions
I loved the 3210 Nokia ! Unbreakable
What did I love about the 90s? The KLF!!!
I was born in the early fifty's and don't know what the KLF was please let me know if possible 😅😊❤
Still laughing at the three suggested names for the cloned sheep! lol...Molly, Dolly or Polly. Could have been Baa-Baa; Boo-Boo, and Bee-Bee - or Huey, Dewey, or Doomee? lol

I agree that most people in the U.S. probably wouldn't have understood it but, hey - we CAN read... :)
Using deductive reasoning, the answer is obvious.
@@jmtimmons Maybe the fact that the narrator is obviously British?
Thank goodness someone else pointed that out.
I loved Irish dance!
I hadn`t drunk enough in the 80`s. So in the 90`s I drank a LOT more..... That is why I only got 28 in this quiz.... :-((

Ah the good ol' days
In the U.S. the best thing about the 90s was the music. Pearl Jam, baby :)
I do love the music of the 90’s I think it’s the best since the 70’s
Oh man, I totally forgot how bad they were.
overrated
Pearl jam was decent but they ushered in a group of shoe gazers that suck you know what. No good guitars no good vocals no good harmonies no good writing I can go on for days
Oh.. don't get me started on that damn Nirvana.
Missed 5. Got all the "Friends" questions wrong. That just wasn't my kind of TV show.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Ben.
It is a great show back then
Film?
Terminator 2
Song?
Depends what genre but Born Slippy by Underworld takes some beating.

I forgot about Terminator 2. That was epic
One of the best movies of all time, and one of the best songs. You nailed the 90s for me.
What Terminator model was played by Robert Patrick?
29/35 here, after adjusting for the DVD one. 1990s were the decade I got married and had kids, also returned to university as a mature student and got my degree.
32/35 thanks again 👍
30/35 don’t remember much about the 90s,too busy building pipelines in northern Alberta.👍🇨🇦🇬🇧
26/35, but I was checked out the entire decade.
29/35. Not too bad, considering I barely remember yesterday!! ;)
I got a Monica hairstyle before touring Egypt and Crete for a month. I was stylin’! I see the photos, can’t believe how much I’ve aged.

90’s trivia was cool. That’s when I grew up. Still missed 5 of them. Not bad though?
Not bad at all👍
Got 5 wrong. Not into hip hop or rap. Too old! 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
The only hip hop i'm into now is hopping because my hip has gone.😂

The music. Nirvana, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins.. 🎧
Being English i was obviously pissed that England got beat but my favourite was friends which is pretty ironic really because I've got none
24/35.. I'm happy.. 😊 Also I remember most of the DVDs I had were animations like The lion king
Philosopher's stone, my guy.
I got 24 out of 35.
I was still on the same planet as I was in the 80's!!!🙄
30/35 not bad
Idk what I loved about the 90s because I wasn't alive for the majority of it I was born in 98. So I guess my favorite thing is being alive?
The music was definitely the highlight of the 90's, grunge, punk, hip hop, metal, and what was termed "alternative" although I saw it as rock music
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was published in 1998. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was published in 1997.
33 for me. Guess that’s what happens when you live it…
Thanks, I got 29, right ✅️
The 90s?
The lack of responsibility, the whirlwind of music, sex, and love in nyc, and being completely clueless to what an a**hole I was.

It feels so strange to me that Netflix, Amazon and Harry Potter all came out before Google.
Did very well for the 70s, not so good for the 80s and horrible for the 90s.
Best part of the 90s was when they ended.

The hip hop music and Nickelodeon
Definitely did better with the historical stuff and not the pop culture stuff. Pure guesswork with the Friends questions and Beckham.

Dvd stands for digital versatile disc!
Originally it was digital video disc. It was later changed to digital versatile disc. So both are correct. No need for the ! Thanks for watching 😁
