I apologize for my comment regarding abundance of British accents on youtube for watch reviews. I had Chatgpt do a voice over in British accents for this video and mush mouths like me are done. th-cam.com/users/shorts1ZQUJ4vw8wA?feature=share
I honestly found this video to be one of the best videos I’ve seen on watch reviews… brutally honest in mentioning the good stuff and the bad in a ‘’straight forward with a laugh here and there’’ way Keep up the great work man, I’m not glazing just really enjoyed the whole video 😂😂
“ Freshly air-dried then deep-fried pig intestine, gleaming against the slopes of Mt. Iwate..” …..I hope the GS folks give you a royalty check for their next design inspiration Marketing copy!!
Interesting review from owner perspective. I got myself SBGA465G and I wish it was titanium because I often find myself removing it during the day because of the weight.
The issue is balance of the watch with titanium / no microadjustment. I am in a no mans land and head of the watch with all the weight on it flops around. I say the case shape and flatness of the caseback also makes a difference. I have SBGN007 which is about the same weight as 465 I believe but that one I can wear it for days.
@slimwrist1143 totally agree... there is noting elegant about a bracelet... its just a tool watch kinda thing . Unless it's 60s 70s thin gold bracelets , those r sexy
From a reviewer with a British accent: Love the pungent sense of humour. Great practical, no nonsense review, with some excellent points for someone looking out for possible gotchas. Was considering one of these but will now have to reflect on how much the direction of the power reserve would start to annoy me. Agree that's very counter-intuitive. Never been a fan of the bracelet either, but am a huge fan of the Spring Drive and that lovely looking dial!
Subscribed. I love microbrands. My sense of humor is not the only thing pungent about me. 99% of the selling point of 413 is the dial + spring drive combo.
6.5” wrist is small for a men’s 40mm watch. My wife wears the 34mm SBGX347 on her 6.5” wrist and it looks fantastic on her. She’s thin and 5’ 5” tall. The bracelet from my SBGN019 fits perfect on my 7.5” wrist with 1 large link and 2 small links removed. No complaints. 20mm lug width. 91 grams on your GS is super light with bracelet. I would love mine to be all titanium. GS quartz all day long if you’re an accuracy snob like us.
Listen mighty 7.5🤣, I would tend to agree with you, I try to go for 36-38mm on majority watches, if diver I can go upto 39mm due to smaller dial / larger bezel. I don't think this watch thought is too big on my wrist because the bezel is actually quite a bit large on the Shunbun. The other GS quartz I shown on the video when doing a weight comparison is also 40mm but that one has a larger dial so when I wear it, I do feel like I am pushing the boundaries with that one.
@@pittss2c601 I would like the the dimensions, I am however one of the very few that do not like the snowflake dial. Other designs I would love it on that dimension.
The bracelet reminds me of the old Omega Speedmaster. The new and refined bracelet makes it a totally different watch in both appearance and comfort. I love the Grand Seiko’s (as well as regular seiko’s) dials but I’m not sure if I’d get one at the moment. Watch collecting is a financial nightmare 😂
I dont know if I stated this in my last STOC but everything around this price range I flipped. Rolex, Tudor, Longines, etc.. The two Grand Seikos I still have it. I been getting into modding watches and I can't make the spring drive or even get to this level of polishing and finishing. Grand Seikos are the awesome.
I found I could tolerate bracelet once I got sizing right. A 5 mm extension link would be practical for warmer months. Pig intestine comment is very strange !
I don't think sailcloth goes with this design but if you want to wear it why the hell not. I had a blue sc strap when I used to own the BB58 and wore it together and it looked great.
i went to try shunbun on at the AD, just not a fan of the case shape. Also not a fan of such a flashy dial, snowflake is awesome though, less is more, but the case shape of snowflake is even worse.
We are total opposite. I didn't see what the rave was about the snowflake. All good. Everyone has different tastes, otherwise world would be a boring place.
Just bought one on a Japan trip. The bracelet is good, it’s just the clasp that’s pretty cheap. Could go without micro adjustment, but the pressed clasp style feels like the clasp of a 100 euro watch. 😬
I am a big GS fan and have 3 pieces. The watches are incredible, but the bracelets are a huge letdown. My first GS purchase as an SBGH269 and I love the watch but HATE the bracelet. The lack of any micro adjust is unforgiveable. I just can't get the right fit, not to mention the entire quality is such a drop--off from the watch itself. To make matters worse, I do not like the look of the watch on a strap. That's totally subjective, but that's how a feel. I am constantly on the fence on selling the 269. Since then, I have bought 2 GSs from the Elegance line and am MUCH happier with them since they were designed for straps in the first place and I can avoid the GS bracelets.
Did you know the half links are not half by size? So you could find a better fit maybe. And also Steel Reef is working on a micro adjustment solution. But if you hate the bracelet so much, a lot of straps fits amazing so just forget about the bracelet. I have an SBGA415, and I have no problem at all with the bracelet, but we are not the same. Wear it with joy my man!
Yeah but I still can't seem to find the right fit. I wear it on strap where I rotate between the Navy one in video and light tan. Actually the Navy one I got it because I saw an image on it on google and thought it looked great but it turned out that it was on a 415.
Lexus is more like it but yes, I would love to see the perplexed look on the faces of Toyota executives on explanation of why GS wanted to flip the power gauge.
They use the same dial in blue on the sea of clouds quartz. I bought this one new from a dealer when they first came out. Beautiful stunning watch. Just never bonded to it. Wanted to trade it for a gs diver, or an omega heritage diver. Love divers! End up trading it back to the dealer i bought it from for a black birch. Not a diver😂
The visibility of reading the dial is real. My old eyes had problems reading it. Not enough contrast. Have a sbga429. Great contrast! Funky green second hand, power meter. Never getting rid of this one.
I make the same comment on all GS videos: - the GS logo is so cheesy, using a Ye Olde Worlde font; - having the corny 'lion' on the caseback which obscures the movement; - bracelet. Change those three things and I'll buy a GS in a high-beat heartbeat.
If the power reserve confused you sir, maybe its not the watch for you....... listening to more of the video and your coming off whiney as well, sir start collecting something else 😂😂
Not sure if I would agree with your sentiment for everyone. Some people are not too fond of the Rolex. I had a datejust that I always wanted in 36mm but I flipped it fairly quickly. I however do have my eye on the Explorer 36mm (older the better) but it would be from a second hand which I prefer because I had a pretty snobby experience with an authorized dealer.
Rolex smokes GS. Ever hear of a "Grand" Rolex? Of course not, the brand doesn't need a adjective. GS resale is abysmal now. Even the shunbun you reviewed has dumped bigly as nobody wants them. Gs is great if it's your 7th watch...buy Rolex

You say it as if British accent is a choice 🤔 just not sure what your original complaint was
The complaint is excessive shilling over a weak brand that has no resale value

Thanks brotha. Been away but might put up a new review soon.
Lmao the comment about glazing was great. Great to see a humble long term review without any of the pretentious bullshit that plagues this industry.
Took me two weeks to figure out the term glazing was not sexual.

lol.. Maybe with a faint sound of pigs snorting on the background overlayered by classical Japanese Koto music. Nailed it!

That's why first thing I did when I got it was order a grey ostrich strap . It's beautiful and light )
Yup I seen a lot of wrists shots with the mentioned strap and it looks great. Adds a layer of elegance.

I was so close to pulling the trigger on the 269 but red was too much of a bold of a color for me. Ditto on the bracelet.

It would have been better if Toyota designed the power gauge...

Titanium is not more scratch resistant than steel. Its the other way around.
I believe GS uses what they call "Brilliant Hard Titanium" which they claim are more resistant to scratching than SS.
I had one of these. Sold it. Got Rolex.
Okay. Came to Japan with a Rolex, bought a Shunbun, will keep both.
This is great. I literally can't stand the British shills who get paid off to rave over junk. Just get a great quality Rolex and be done with it.

“Be done with it”??
that sounds quite dismissive, and not at all inviting.
Makes me want to abstain from Rolex even more..
GS absolutely kills Rolex. That poser brand is for criminals and spivs. I wouldn't take one for free. Ugly obnoxious watches.
