I had a cracked screen could see top half. Couldn't see bottom half to enter pin. Your video saved the day. Had to erase phone before sending back to carrier. ty
If you have any issues with this still, connect the phone to a laptop/pc with your charger cable, I did this after WEEKS of trying and got it on my first try with the phone connected. good luck all and thank God for my Hauwei P10 to being around to save me in the meantime (☆^O^☆)

Thank you for this. Most recent update now requires the owner to put in a password every 72 hours, for security reasons. Very effective, had to reset device. Partially my error as I didn't enable remote access to my phone....I didn't anticipate Samsung adding this new ridiculous measure without warning. next phone will not be from this company. Samsung customer service was very poor as well, pretty clueless script reading.
Thanks so much. I needed several tries but in the end, was successful. I had read in another post that it should be connected to the pc what I don't understand but in the end it worked while it was connected. Maybe a coincidence, but I don't care as it is reset now :-)

don't you need email verification when you do factory reset? I had a trouble before but it wasn't s20.. I mean, when I did factory reset, without email address and password didn't let me through. so, my question is do you need email verification after factory reset?

This helped me with the reset/wipe. But when setting up the device after factory resetting it the phone tells me to use a previous owners email and I am 100% sure using the previous email used on this device. Can you please help?

If your struggling (like me), connect phone to a charging cable, then you get a visual clue on the screen of when to change to the volume up position. Mine was way less than 15 second, maybe 8 or 9! Saw this solution in the comments, so repeating it here to save people scrolling though.
Agreed, once I plugged the phone in (i plugged into my laptop) the reboot took a little longer and switching from volume down to volume up did indeed enter into recovery menu!

Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. 3 days ago I installed the Android 13, Samsung UI 5.1 on my Samsung S20 Ultra. Shortly thereafter it would not accept my PIN code for screen unlocking but did recognize my faceID. Even though I knew my password was correct and was sure that one of my teenage kids was not trying to prank me. Turns out to be a software bug. One that ruined most of my evening - because the phone locks you out completely if it is not interacted with in 4 hours - even the FaceID will not unlock it. The solution came from you and I was lucky I did not have to carry out the full reset as described in your video (which I was prepared to do). In my case - all I needed to do was to force the hard stop as you described and wait for a fresh restart. After I did this - magically the phone accepted my original PIN and I am happy again. My key learning - ensure your device is backing up to the cloud (for example) on automatic intervals - that way your apps and screen layout, etc will remain along with data and will save you lots of time if you needed to do a full reset. Thanks again.

i got it by connecting it to the charging cable and when you see that it starts to restart immediatly switch to volume up button. The important part is the charging cable.

Hello I did the factory reset but now when I tried to start it up it goes to a page that says it was an unauthorized reset and to enter my google account information that was previously used on the phone. I don’t have access to the google/email account anymore and I’m wondering if there is a way around this or if the google email is the only way.
