    I love the Periphery states. Especially when they are a state that’s annoying those self righteous Davions.

      When the Davions have a sane ruler and are able to suppress the independent bellicosity of the March lords they can get a lot done through peaceful means.

      (Sorry for the random aside but your comment and all this reminded me of my first Battletech roleplay campaign.
      A cluster of periphery worlds near the Fed Sun border discovered rich veins of rare minerals worth a fortune and began to move to form a small independent state to exploit the resources. The Fed Sun started eyeing them up and when they couldn’t convince they to open up with sweet heart trade deals and bribed. They hired a rather nasty mercenary company to invade them and start committing all the war crimes. So that the AFFS could intervene and bring a end to the violence.
      We of course were mercs hired by the Taurians who were paranoid about this being a Davion plot, they were right, sent to fight the pirates tooth and nail them eventually start a guerrilla war against the AFFS. It was fun, it’s where my main Battletech character comes from, and kinda formed how I see the inner sphere even now.)

    Should be interesting where this small coalition goes in the future. They did the smart play by sending support to Davion again the Combine. I could see them being more important to Battlemech production since they have a working industrial Mech facilities. Would be smart to have a more secure back area to keep production going. That and an experienced Mech army to fend off an opportunist is a good deterrent.

      If Fitvelt's Coalition can keep itself above water, their ability to produce Industrial Mechs and arm them should be a major factor in their continued success. Although many deride the IM, enough of them can win battles. Especially against the hodgepodge of Pirate fielded Mechs, only a few of which would be serious threats to well maintain 'standard' Mech forces. If Fitvelt can import such 'standard' Mechs, spare parts, and support equipment, they can assure their continued existance against almost any foe, up to and including a return of Davion House units. Until then, Fitvelt needs to double down on its production of IMs and standard vehicles to provide enuogh forces to meet any foreseeable threats.

    • @MechanicalFrog
      @MechanicalFrog  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@franksmedley7372 Agreed. It'll boil down to just how much value they can be vs. how much trouble it would be to crush them.

      @franksmedley7372 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MechanicalFrog : Agreed. By doubling down upon their production, and arming, of Industrial Mechs, the Coalition makes itself a tougher nut to crack. By the time the major powers around them, including the Taurians, figure that out... the FC should be in a position of being able to fend off most incursions. Outright invasion by major forces? Unlikely, but what does the FC have that is THAT important to gain control of?

    Whereas I fully understand and sympathize with the Filtvelt Coalition's break from House Davion, I worry that they have not the resources to fight off Davion aggression or a concerted Tortuga push. Given their political/economic attempts to associate with the Raven Alliance, I can see a very typical Snow Raven maneuver to fully incorporate the FC into their fold. Never put anything past a Snow Raven.

    Honestly I kind of agree with you, there is part of me that feels like the Battletech world should have balkanized far more during the dark age. More states and factions to play as would be cool and it would make sense. But oh well.)
    Not much to say here. It’s good to hear another small periphery stare is out there succeeding and didn’t immediately get crushed by the great houses who’d rather shoot people that admit their wrong. Thankfully House Davion for all its flaws understands it’s easier to catch flies with honey rather than vinegar. I’m glad they found a good merc company to form the backbone of their army, that’s happening more and more out here. It shows we all aren’t just dogs of war. Maybe one day my regiment will get a contact to head out that way and put some pirates in the ground.
