I saw your comment ages ago. It made me find some interesting answers.
As of mid August 2024, there are no reports of counterfeit 50 cent Australian coins.
Many years ago, there had been a few sad attempts at counterfeiting some coins.
Not surprisingly, anyone would pick the dodgy coins. 🤣🤣
EDIT: Several years ago, there were some older coins, pennies & the like, that had been counterfeit. They were very good. Too good to be true, good. Most were found, while some were ripped off with these "collector" coins.
