Just when I was wondering if your brushes could benefit from this new feature, I found this video. Practical info, I already tried in a few of your brushes and works seamlessly. Thanks for putting this content out!
@@ArtifexForgeDesignTutorials I was just asking, I came here searching for that very answer, so thought I'd ask in case. I hope they will add that. I've been using it for total 30 minutes and there's about 10 keyboard shortcuts I wish existed to speed up workflow, and some modifiers to help chain things - the way you can ^ or command to hold the node control point is awesome and really helps line up the curve tho. great piece of software!
@@ArtifexForgeDesignTutorials I'd love to see profile groups too, where you can use modifiers across groups, either like a gradient effector, or randomization, or a "shader graph" style - powerful stuff!
Hey @blueskyjax ! Yes, it will work with vector brushes but you need to set the size variance slider in the relevant brushes settings. Skip to 05:37 in the video to learn about this and if you have any further questions, please let me know.
Hi! This video help me so much!! I have a cuestion, maybe you can help me. I recently purchased all 3 Affinity apps. I've been testing them. But I had a problem in Affinity Designer, the "Basic Brushes" option DISAPPEARED and I don't know how to get it to be in the options again. Do you know if that is possible? and tell me how? Thanks!!
I'm pleased you enjoyed the tutorial! I think I can answer your question - the 'basic' brushes are only available in 'Pixel Persona'. Switch persona to see them then select 'basic' from the dropdown menu on the 'brushes panel'.
Great video thank you! I just found you today and am learning AFD so this was excellent! Can I ask how you created the initial owl sketch or layout? Was this with the pen tool? And can you apply symmetry to a layer on a sketch like you can in Procreate? Just subscribed so will keep watching your videos now. Sally
Hey Sali, Thanks for watching! I made the owl from a pencil sketch and then traced over it using the Pen Tool. You can apply symmetry in the Pixrel Persona. I don't have a video for that but this one is good - th-cam.com/video/-K9rfDOlDYw/w-d-xo.html There are also some workarounds for creating symmetry in the Vector/Designer persona as outlined in this video - th-cam.com/video/T9ttwD0TAM0/w-d-xo.html If you have any further questions, please let me know.
Hi Roger, No problem - I was considering sharing the version of the owl before I used the stroke tool on it, so people could have a try themselves. Is this what you'd like or, did you want the finished design?
Hey Tracy. Do you mean the box for entering the stroke weight? Press⌘ (macOS) + Click or Ctrl (Windows) + Click. If it's not working then there may be a glitch.
The best practical tutorial for new Affinity Designer Stroke Width Tool I've ever seen! Keep it up! 😀👋
Aw, thanks so much!

Thanks for your support @axtryo. I'm pleased my brushes are working well with the new feature.
Another excellent and informative video, thanks for creating it.
Thanks so much Ash!
Nice info - nice brushes, thankyou bro
I'm pleased it was useful!
8:33 can't you copy paste profiles across lines? (considering they have a point order)
Not that I'm aware of. Have you found something I've missed?

This new tool is great. One can draw a vector sketch and then instead of redrawing the image simply adjust the lines! Great tutorial!!

Cool tool, unfortunately it keeps making my lines look broken when zoomed out....
Hey, I'm pleased you enjoyed the video. I'm not sure why the lines would appear broken. This sounds like one for the Affinity support team.
The nice thing continually crashes when using the new tool...🙄
Sorry to hear that - I'm sure Serif, the makers of Affinity will be able to advise.
