Interesting fact: Ntfombi, the queen mother, was never married to the former king Sobhuza. Her accession is the result of a power struggle toppling the former Queen Dzeliwe. Ntfombi was a teenage maid in the house of one of Sobhuza's many wives, and was banished from the royal household when she became pregnant in 1967. Those who staged the coup found Ntfombi in a working-class Manzini neighborhood sixteen years later. In a highly usual ceremony, they staged a marriage between Ntfombi and Sobhuza's corpse.
Meaning all the wives that are left now the three balondolozi were never married to king Sobhuza as well the one who has a Princess Sibuyisile she looks too young to be king Sobhuza's daughter highly possible they were his side chicks.
It's hard to say just what exactly is going on in Swaziland without having visited there. The stories about the excesses of the King in the face of extreme poverty of his subjects is troubling, but I'd really like to see this for myself before passing judgement.

Another thing -- most of the problems you find in polygyny you find in monogamy. At least in a polygynous situation the wives have each other at times of strife with their husband...in a monogamous relationship a woman can often find herself alone with no one to truly understand what she is going through. Also -- look it up -- the Bible NEVER speaks against polygyny. Anywhere.

Until you know a person and know the truth of the situation who are we to say that these women are not happy? They seem to be making many choices on their own, his wives. One of them is a singer for a living which is, as they said, unheard of in their culture, for a queen to be singing! Our western society tells us polygamy is wrong but 2/3rds of the world says otherwise. We are VERY small on a world-scale. Perhaps if you'd been born there you wouldn't see a problem with it,either.

When there is more than one woman, if the women are more sisterly to one another rather than rivals, when one of them wants something they can go together to the man in order to get that thing. He will have to listen because they are all asking for it. If he says no then he faces the women being angry with him and being difficult in other areas (read: no sex; you know how women can be!). Again, we are talking about individuals who are attempting to follow God's Law to the best of their ability.

You may know about your experiences in polygamy but the dynamics depend on the set of people that are involved, their personalities and all of that. It's not only about sex every woman and every man involved are human beings with complex feelings and emotions and sensitivities and each one will need to be taken care of in all of these arenas. When you think on it one ponders why a man would want so many wives with all the responsiblity involved.

One should not speak of things which one does not know of. I know many polygynists who do not have a big issue with jealousy, and who's children do not fight at all. Why should they fight? While you may be led by your society to believe that monogamy is best, others could say otherwise. Polygamy should be at least an option in all countries. Rather than degrade women as it does with the Mormons, it tends to free women.
Where does it free Women because In Eswatini some go to the extent of using Muti on the other wives. Our the kids...jealousy and feuds exists a lot in polygamy..

Well there are MANY reasons why women typically don't have more than one husband but while it's rare that such a thing occurs, it is not unheard of. A man can have children up into his 70s; a woman stops being able to much sooner. A woman is delicate with child for 9 months and 2 months afterwards, while a man is never in such a position. When there is one man we all know who the father is, when there are multiple husbands we don't know who's daddy is whom... MANY reasons!

Is this about Mswati III's wives or polygamy in Swaziland. Polygamy has been practicesed a thousand years before Mswati was King. You make this sounds as if he initiated it or it is solely practiced by him. What about in the Asian countries where men are allowed to have four wives and even get a tax rebate for that. Who said having many wives is ungodly when the wise King Solomon had over a hundred wives.?

If Saudis want to marry an 8 year old off to a 50 year old, that is between them and The Living God. Every adult involved will be dealt with accordingly. We've got our own issues, it's none of our business. We've got to combat the craziness in our own country. In any sense, child abuse and the like will happen whether a family is poly or monogamous. It is the NATURE of the people, not the relationship that breeds such things.

There's safety in numbers, as they say. More wives, more women, equals girl power. Women that share a husband have more time to devote to other interests, rather than be everything to the man. Before you make your final decision in your mind, I suggest you speak to polygynous households (NOT Mormons!) and see how they are doing. I know many who are Messianic AND Christian. THEY are doing just fine. The women are happy, the men are happy. Everyone's an adult and no one's getting beaten...
