Honestly, as scary and stressful the situation this is depicting is, it backs up the idea that Val /is/ a scary person. I think in the show they really dilute him when he's not on screen with angel, and while I understand him not wanting to have a /public/ image as a shitty abuser, him also treating Vox that way makes so much more sense for his character. I have to say while the first season had its moments, I feel like the way they almost infantilize Val when he's not on screen with Angel just makes him much less serious and less scary... and it kind of invalidates the danger Angel is constantly in, imo. Abusers don't usually have relationships in any kind that they aren't some sort of harmful, and even if they are only targeting one person (which Val clearly isn't) they don't even remotely indicate their tendencies to those who are not their victims.

And while I like to think Vox is absolutely capable of physically defending himself, Val's pride wouldn't tolerate it. He'd leave if Vox stood up for himself. So in essence, I like to think they're both shitty people, but Vox underestimated Val's charisma as well as his temper. The only way to keep someone like Valentino in line... is to let him think he's the one in control. And at some point, the line between letting him think it, and him actually BEING the one in charge, gets very thin.

When these were created in one of them there was Vox being showing up more than once with his screen broken by Valentino, meaning that he hit him like that. This kind of thing became famous and everyone thought that their dynamic was like that. Now the Voxtagram posts aren't canon anymore, and Vox is the one more in control. So, Valentino that hit him on his screen probably never happened once the series camrs out.
Vox really isn’t that bad of a guy, he did not deserve that. And, it really looked like it hurt. I hope he’ll leave Val if this is how their relationship really is, and goes to the hotel for shelter

Being in charge of all entertainment, you could assume he has a lot more hold than Val, who would have part of his own control underneath Vox (online prn). But Val always seemed like he’d be the top in their relationship. He just gives off strong, manipulative top vibes that he just doesn’t use in the show. Both are cool, but the differences are interesting. Awesome animatic btw! This is such a great visualization of that classic scene!
