Yet another superb video Donny, not been up that area for a few years and had almost forgotten how beautiful it is , need to plan a wee trip soon . thanks again for the wonderful entertainment 🚤
Hi Donnie. I did most of the joinery work at that Hotel. I notice the embankment staircase has gone. The Tree house became unsafe due to all tree illness as it was rotting within. This Hotel brings back many working day momeries. The boathouse is where the swans used to watch me work and waddle up the beach every day to keep me company.
Great film Donny thank you for braving the cold, you were near my stay place when I come up to Scotland at the Forest Holiday lodges, walked round the building at 14.45 many times getting some good photos, never knew what the building was so thank you for that. many thanks Donny
Some awesome scenery captured again Donny , those snow capped mountains @ 2.23 and the natural looking forest @ 11.12 were truly beautiful and left me in Awe. As a Scot, never been or known the goil area but did stay in a caravan at Arrochar to hill climb with an army friend years ago. visted inverary and the museum jail, oh iv camped and trecked in Etive with you too many moos ago. Iv just purchased the new nomad winnerwell view stove (large) & a high quality, heavy duty bell tent. Cant wait to try it out, all this new gear , im thinking of creating a channel too , show my Adventures... All the best to you and your health Donny from the laughing faces at the old OAK tree wi a tarp , a bushcraft chair 😅 and a banshee tent ⛺👍🥾
How strange i also lived in a couple of flats behind Carrick Castle while working on the Lodge Hotel up at LochGoilhead.Corran across the water is beautiful also. I used to go there by rubber boat and camp.👍
Thank you, Donny you know that's my favourite area of Scotland. I intend to visit that area with my inflatable again as I'm working near there this season. Thanks Steve 👍
Another great video, Donny, from my old stamping ground. The view of Loch Restil at the Rest and be Thankful was superb...I've seen many caravans trashed by the side of the loch due to the strong winds funneling through there! I am very intrigued by the collapsible trailer...did you custom-make that? It could be the answer to my launching woes! I was "escorted" by the MOD police in Loch Long once...but they soon realised the reason for my unintended proximity to the restricted area was due to my incompetence in setting a spinnaker on my sailing boat...I thought their laughter was unwarranted!
Hi again Colin..yup the trailer is half and half..I made the axle and blocks to hold the boat ..had the wheels ..and was given a larger rusty trailer ..which made the handle. You can buy small collapsible trailers if you are struggling after the op ..or get transom wheels on a lightweight boat ..where there is a will..hopefully there is a way 😀
@@donnywilcox Thanks Donny. I think I may have to go with the transom mounted option. Always felt they looked a bit cumbersome when raised, but needs must...
The whole area is an outdoor paradise Donny. My passion is the hilltops and was up at the start of the month overlooking loch Fyne and the butterbridge carpark.
I used to enjoy the hills too alistair..in fact celebrated my 60th birthday clambering up 82 different munros that year..sadly almost 10 years later my feet joints just dont like me doing it anymore ...so find the boat eases my outdoor itches nicely :-D
@@donnywilcox I watched your video of Ben Lawers and enjoyed it. I'm heading towards 63yrs and have found a new energy to hopefully get another few years of climbing
Beautiful video as ever Donny. Can I ask what is that music you use? I know I've heard it before and driving me mad trying to remember what it's called. Thanks.
What a lovely looking but cold day, I can only imagine the disappointment when you discovered it was going to be a slurp free outing...😮 Great accompanying 'knopfler-esque' score!
You better believe it Libertas.. I could have cried when I found I had no flask. In fact when I got home I was still puzzled as it wasn't where I though it would be. I searched the car after that and discovered it had fallen out the sandwich bag ..and rolled under the driver seat.. so I wasnt amused knowing I could have returned and got it in the car ..such is life 😀
You grabbed the chance of a fine day there Donny.I 'scored' for a free SIGG 750mlvaccuum flask last year & it out performs all my others by far. Fill it from a kettle at bedtime & I can't keep my finger in the water next morning, still too hot. All the best, Ash.
Gosh..I wish I knew about the SIGG ashley ..I just bought a small Tesco one ..it does the trick as I cant keep coffee too long as it tends to leak down my throat ..but it would be handy have one that keeps the water hot for so long 😀
Some great views there! I've not been in that area for many years. I was once taking a photo of a departing submarine from a lay-by when I noticed a police Range Rover stopped behind me, with their eyes on me, checking on what I was doing. I must pay the area another visit sometime. Great video. 👍👍👍
That was the place i first put a craft with a motor on my own a few years ago Little 9ft inflatable catamaran with a seagul strapped to the back 😂 i think the mod followed me ready to rescue me i spend the day grinning from ear to ear getting some laughs from the yachts 😂 though sitting 9inches from the motor for 6hrs breathing blue smoke wasnt the best plan it showed me a boat an exploring was what my life needed . Cant wait to see your next video but if you get chased down by a little blue and white boat with a fat geordie one day dont worry ill be coming to say hello with a tin of hazy jayne 😉
Thanks for the comment Fishhunter ..yup it sure is an addictive hobby. Mind you I gave up on the fishing ..well except the nice tasting ones ..and I always enjoy a tin of Guinness or Brewdog ..no idea what Hazy jayne is like..but sound great 😀
Gosh..Im glad I didnt clip the ship in the passing westcoastdiving ..I seem to recall its quite shallow off the hotel..but didnt have my depth gauge (fish finder) set up 😀
@@donnywilcox it's in 26m. Can be seen in the video link below. There is the boat shed cafe in Loch Goil if you forget your coffee again, they are happy for you to tie up to the jetty. Really enjoy your videos looking forward to the next one. th-cam.com/video/FNg40DQrPTc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=NfF8bn3YJ_ww2xaL
Hi liveahealthylife..im afraid this particular boat is no longer available as they were made in St Petersburg. There are plenty others to choose from though.. depending on you budget and requirements. Check out the "Boatworld" web site to see the kind of thing available. Most are made in China now ..so very much similar to each other :-D
This is our home port! The tree has been down for a few years now. It was a Storm that destroyed it. Seal Population is still pretty good. Counted 30plus last year. Good coffee and cake at lochgoil cruisers fo anyone following in Donnys Wake.
I know you have a RIB with a 25HP outboard and smaller auxiliary/backup, but what kind out boat/outboard did you use on this trip? Also, what is the fuel consumption? Thanks. Edit: Is it an F-RIB 275 with a 6HP Yamaha?
Its a 2.75 Frib and 6 Hp ..great fuel consumption which is why I use it a lot.. gets up and down loch etive for around 5 litres fuel instead of 10 the 25hp uses for same trip ..hope that helps

Thanks Donny for a soul soothing video, marvellous.
great wee video ...was fishing loch goil last week lovely part of scotland
Stunning scenery, we are certainly spoiled with the views we get in west Scotland.
Yup david ..we certainly are blessed with stunning scenery ..if only we could get rid of the midges 😀
Very nice Donny, I particularly enjoyed this video of an area which I know only by road.

Nice 1 Donny...always appreciate your adventures thanks again for another
Every time I watch one of your great videos just illustrates why I love Scotland so much, thanks for sharing Donny.
At times I just wish the weather would match the scenery alex..but I suppose all the rain washes it clean 😀
Great as always 👌 hopefully see you on the high seas or lochs this year ,,😀🎣
Im always around somewhere on the water spaced out ..so every possibility we may meet 😀
Hi Donny just watched this brilliant footage as ever it suddenly made a dreary Sunday afternoon brighter
Its been another dull dreary week up here harry.. but the sun has to come out sometime ? 😀
Fantastic Donny 👍

The storms from a couple of years ago brought the tree house down. Where you passed over there is a ship wreck as well.

PS Waverley visits Ardnagal pier ,14.50 , a couple of times a year as Arrochar pier is now disused.
Nice one Donny I’d swap you’re cold day for my dull rainy one 👍
Lots of wind and rain now Jeff..only been 5 or so calm days all year 😀
Brilliant video. And do I hear a hint of Local Hero by Mark Knopfler in your music...?
Yup.. it was a Local Hero theme ..but not sure Mark Knopfler would have approved my version ,,thanks for dropping by chris 😀
Great video, I am looking to get a small boat like this. Do you have any recommendations
