Watermarks are the best method of giving your work some legal protection. If you find someone who has taken your work and removed the watermark its easier to sue them since: 1. its illegal to remove copyright information from a work , 2. the watermark shows that the work is copyright protected . Also watermarks a massive pain for Ai. Ai struggles to separate the logos from the rest of the image and ends up adding your logo into the images they generate. Also it puts Ai companies in legal jeopardy since removing logos from copyright protected images and adding them to their database is probably illegal.
i used to not care about small details when posting my artwork, but now I know how to protect my art. Thanks, I'm really grateful for the video ms ness.
Thank you for this video!!! 💗 Unfortunately in the US instagram makes it extremely hard to op-out of the Meta Ai , you have to provide proof that your art has been used, which is crazy.
Thank you very much ness. You deserve the greatest hug. Been an artist sinse I was a child and up till date I rarely shared my works because I was scared of getting my art stolen. I had an issues like that in the past which instilled this fear in me. And my fears kept holding me back. Now I feel so charge to post an art like “right now”! 😊 This has been very helpful. Your tutorials are! Looking forward to more.
I'm so glad that you found this helpful!! It's perfectly normal that you would be wary of sharing your art if you have had a bad experience with art theft in the past. But I'm so glad to hear that you won't let that hold you back! Way to go!
I always cover my images with watermarks-unfortunately it does detract from the artwork and I have heard that a lot of buyers are turned off by watermarks.
@@ArtBusinesswithNess I shear from other creators that Instagram's Opt-out is more lip service than anything. 1) hard to find; 2) your submission will get turned down if they haven't already AI scraped your material. 🤯
Woah I had no clue about deviant art! Was a huge user back then but all these tips came off real helpful and useful for my current circumstances, appreciate your vids!!
I'm glad you found it helpful! I was also a big user back in high school / college, but haven't been back in years. I learned about this in online news and was soooo disappointed by them!
Hi Ness, I have been following you and recommending your videos. I have a question. Where do I get the glaze feature to put on my art and illustrations. It is an app or is it a website? I want to try it. Thank You so much. Keep these videos coming.
I am worried about my art being stolen. I've Ben very nervous and I'm disabled so doing more to post is hard. I wish there was a quick thing I could just do, since I can't always film my more traditional work. I deleted Deviant art and I'm unsure about instagram now, and TH-cam as well.
Many artists think filming their art is complicated, but it's really not! You can grab your phone and film a 4 seconds clips of your finished traditional artwork, and that's a fine reel right there!
Hey. Your videos are very helpful. I had a question regarding behance. I use it as a portfolio since I do not have a website up yet. Can we use glaze or low res in behance?
Glaze is a software that takes your image file, transforms it, and gives you a new altered image file in return. You can upload your Glazed image anywhere you usually upload art - whether that's your website, social media, or Behance.
i dont know but i am so scared that people might just steal and be untrustworthy about my artwork (hard work) , that i still (since 1 year or longer) can not post my traditional artwork (canvas acrylics oil) on any social media platform. What would your recommendations for people who are artists but can not show or present their work to an audience be? I want to be able that people know the work I am doing and share and sell the beautiful pieces I made. But I dont know how to make it work when I start. I would cherish the help of people who were able to sell their art or large prints on canvases or who know of people like that. thanks
Unfortunately this is a fear you have to get over to flourish as an artist. There is always a chance of art theft (though it’s not that frequent) but you can’t let that stop you. Just like you can’t hide in your home because there’s a chance you might get hit by a car if you come out. Life always comes with risks…
What if I want to post a model wearing a shirt with my designs on it on Instagram?🙏🏼 Or what if someone took a screenshot in the reels video and managed to get the design? Please help me thank you🙏🏼
There is no 100% certain way to protect your art online. There are ways to mitigate, but a determined art thief can still take it. You have to decide if the fear of theft will prevent you from showing your own art how you want to.
Art & Commerce - Don't confuse the two. Produce art because you love it. Don't become just another Capitalist. Feeding the Capitalist monster of exploiting stuff for cash. For it is no longer art - It's a product. You aren't an artist... you're a capitalist entrepreneur.
Tell that to Michelangelo who painted the Sistine chapel on commission. This is a silly comment. Earning money for your hard work doesn't make you less of an artist - in fact, in enables you to do MORE art when you can drop your 9-5. You just haven't been able to sell your art yet, and thinking that this makes you a "true artist" makes you feel better about it.
@@ArtBusinesswithNess Michelangelo was working for the church and as a devout believer himself... he thought he was doing his 'art' for his eternal soul and his creator. Not to make money from a Capitalist system that is only about individual greed. You could not of picked a worse choice. If you make art in order to make money from it - then you're an artisan, craftsperson or commercial creative.
@@commonwunder Think again. Michelangelo was a sculptor, not a painter. He didn't want to paint and hated every second of working on the Sistine chapel...
@@commonwunder Whatever man. It's silly to think that art magically loses its value if/when you sell it. Incredibly small-minded, but I can't stop the stupid and have better things to do - like create art! Go kick rocks or soemthing.

Very good points! These are great reasons to use watermarks :)
There are already AIs that can removed your watermarks… or not

Honestly I don’t think you need to cover it in watermarks. I just put a little information thing in a bottom corner but I wouldn’t cover my image.

lol yes art theft has become a really awful concern. specially AI. DA is indeed the ebst example.
Even if you can op out on DA, honestly do you really believe them? they lost all my trust.
It WAS a particularly shitty thing for them to do. Instagram is making the same mistake right now...
