  • In the former Republic of Yugoslavia, the subterranean Željava Airport stands as a relic of Cold War-era military strategy. This underground airbase, buried deep within a mountain along the Croatia-Bosnia & Herzegovina border, was built to withstand nuclear strikes and housed Air Force hangars and barracks. Its concealed design and massive scale underscore the lengths to which nations went to secure their military assets during a tense era.
Fast forward to early February 2023, Iran unveiled its own underground air base, Eagle 44. Shrouded in secrecy, this facility is designed to shelter a fleet of aging American-made fighter jets and future Russian aircraft. As open-source intelligence experts dig into its location, this base exemplifies the strategic significance of hidden military capabilities in contemporary geopolitics.
In the East, China's advanced hypervelocity wind tunnel symbolizes the country's push towards cutting-edge hypersonic weaponry. Capable of simulating speeds up to Mach 30, this facility not only represents a monumental engineering achievement but also signals the development of space-launched fighter initiatives that could shift global power dynamics.
Lastly, Triton Island, once a serene and uninhabited speck in the South China Sea, has become a focal point of regional tension. China's rapid development of this strategically valuable island underscores its ambition in the Pacific, potentially altering the balance of power in one of the world's most contested maritime regions.

The major flaw I see is even if they have "hardened underground structures" housing planes, they STILL need runways, right? Since we know where these "hidden" bases are, the runways are out in the open, should be the FIRST AND PRIMARY targets. No runways, no planes getting off the ground.

@MrTommyboy68 runway denial munitions are not just for putting holes in runways. They are also a phycalogical weapon as well since they also contain submunitions that are designed to be, in a sense, booby traps for the engineers and / or EOD specialist that come out to repair the runway. Their nasty devices for sure.

Bunker airbases are some of the silliest ideas around. A pair of well placed 4,000lb bunker busters at the exit to the runway will seal in any and all aircraft within the base. At the very least, hitting the tarmac of the entrance to said runway will prevent them from getting airborne anyways.
On a side note, AGM-65's are not bombs, they're air to ground missiles. As well as the F-4's they have are closer to like ~65 years old. They're 3rd gen fighters, and they're even less advanced than when the US was using as we never sell planes with all the bells and whistles on them for obvious reasons.

  • @BillHalliwell
    @BillHalliwell หลายเดือนก่อน +2

G’day Dark, there are genuine secret military facilities hidden in many countries. If a deliberate, documentary style, video or film of such a facility is released then the location can cease to be a secret even if the actual location is not mentioned in the film. The film, itself, if it accurately depicts details and visual specifications then it is a film of a former secret. If the film is not accurate and deliberately released then the film is mere ‘propaganda’ and the secret can be maintained.
America’s ‘Area 51’ is a perfect example. It was a totally, well-kept secret, until film was released by individuals or groups. So the existence of ‘Area 51’ was proven to be an official secret (or lie) yet what actually happens there is, generally, still secret. There are hundreds of suggestions of what ‘could’ be happening at that location; also at nearby ‘S4’ or ‘S2’; books have even been written about what ‘might’ happen there but no official, public statements have ever been issued, to the best of my knowledge.
My point is that one never hears about ‘real secrets’ by their very nature; they are unknown to those who should not know.
If any organisation or country makes and releases images of their military facilities, with any level of detail, then these are not secrets, merely, misinformation or something the originators want you to know about.
So, the underground air bases and the high speed ‘wind tunnel technology’ as shown in an old, messy factory building somewhere in China is what they want the Western world to see and, therefore, not of any real value.
Deliberately causing the creation of so-called, ‘conspiracy theories’ can be of great assistance to any country wanting to distract attention away from what their activities and intentions truly are.
The only genuine ‘chink in the armour’ of state secrets are formerly ‘read-in’, ‘whistle blowers’ that can demonstrate and prove their personal bona fides and sources.
The most recent, credible example of this are the public statements made by Mr David Grusch; a former military, then government civilian intelligence operative who testified, under oath, to a joint Congressional committee regarding the existence of physical evidence that proves UAPs and even non-human ‘biologics’ are in the possession of commercial government contractors.
If Mr Grusch’s sworn testimony could be proven to be a lie then he would be incarcerated by this time, a little over a year since his statements were first made.
The ‘Grusch Affair’ presents the US military and legal establishment with a dilemma. The Federal offence of not telling the truth to a Congressional committee carries with it a significant penalty of incarceration.
If the Federal Attorney General unsuccessfully prosecutes Mr Grusch that is a tacit admission that what Mr Grusch said was the truth. This, in all probability, is precisely why no action has been taken against him. The, aforementioned, establishment does not want Mr Grusch’s statements to be ‘on the record’ as being true.
I mention this, extreme, example of the nature and ramifications of genuine secrecy to underline the fact that if we, the general public, can see what is said to be film about anything that is a “secret”; the most logical conclusion is that what is filmed and distributed is not, in its true sense, a secret.
    - Bill H.

Hypersonic capabilities mean nothing against good detection capabilities. As long as you can detect it soon enough, it can be stopped. The reason for this is hypersonic craft no NOT have to ability to maneuver quickly and their flight path is NOT "erratic" in spite of what was said in this video. At the speed the object is traveling it has little ability to alter direction and any changes in direction occur in small amounts over large distances and as long as it's been detected it can be intercepted. This is why America invests in detection technology rather than it's own hypersonic technology.

The area around Zeljava has been largely demined, a year ago I have not seen so many "mines" signs that I have seen two years before, there is even a container bar and a cleaned parking there that weren't there before. The site is not interesting for the army as it is right on the edge of the border between Croatia and Bosnia&Herzegovina. one of 4 entrances is on the Bosnian side, 3 are on Croatian side and 1 and a half (if I remember correctly) takeoff/landing strip is on the Bosnian side, the rest is on Croatian side - and they have also been bombed. Basically useless for any of countries unless they had the same army. When Yugoslavia existed, there was no official border there.

Well I am no engineer or anything like that, but seeing the pipe systems which shoot out in mach 5 is just crazy, so now I was wondering and as I said I have no Idea I am just a idiot on the web, but why are we shooting rockets into space with so much fuel and stuff, if we could use a pipe system which works just like a gun barrel, which builds up way more pressure with less fuel and basically shoots them most of the way into space rather than gasing all the way.

I am a caver and we cavers know the nature can make some big halls like a big football arena, and soo long cave system it's over 2-3-400 km long passage size lots of place like an underground railroad or motorway tunnel.
The deep is an another things some vertical pit is over 3-4-500m deep.
The longest cave in the world you can found in USA the Mammoth caves system and it's over 680km long in Europe in Switzerland the Hölloch ( Hell Hole) system it's over 280 km long .
The deepest you can found in Russia Abbhazia near Georgia state and it's over 2200m deep in Europe in Austria near Salzburg the Lamprechtstofen my favorite cave it's over 50km long but 1642m deep and you can go the bottom entrance.
In Iran had lot's of area of limestone, and they have lots of nature caves with deep pits and huge halls.
In former Yugoslavia and now the Balkan region holds also with big systems and unknown big underground rivers what size is near middle section of river Danube.
