Dunhill butane and flints are not available to everyone. It's OK to use any good quality butane. You only need to use Dunhill butane for the New Generation Rollagas because it's more refind.
Ever seen a lighter of this style but the brand is japanese, I think it says "bijou elegant" on the side..do you reckon a dunhill repair kit would do for my lighter?

Hello! Thanks for the video! I've recently purchased a vintage gold dunhill lighter which was working smoothly. It ran out of gas and I ordered the right butane to fill it up, after I refill the lighter and open the top, it spits out a lot of gas and gives a huge flametorch if I try to light it. This happens even if I only fill a tiny bit of butane the lighter.
Do you have any idea why that happens? I can't seem to find an answer on the internet..

The small key-hole shaped screw on the base of the lighter is the gas/air mixture screw, just try tightening clockwise a little bit, the smallest movement will make a big difference.
Stephen is right, and to add: if you just can't get a consistent flame height, and it's jumping wildly all over the place to the point of being unusable, you probably need to replace the rubber seals around the needle valve if they haven't been replaced in recent years, to your knowledge.
@@null140 Hi Ryan, usually you only need to replace the 0-ring seals if the lighter is leaking. If the flame is spluttering purging the lighter can solve the problem. Fill the lighter in the normal way, but leave the lid open so the butane just goes straight through, this will clear any blockages. Close the lid and fill it as normal.
The pressure regulator sponge. If the flame doesn’t adjust, it is always the sponge/filter. Without it there is no way to adjust it just like you can’t adjust a bic. It has no sponge to compress.
Good morning. I have a question you may be able to answer. Do all rollagas lighters have a dunhill stamp on the inside of the lid because I have a yellow lacquer rollagas without one. Other than that, there are no signs that the lighter might not genuine. Good tip about putting the filler cap in the lighter first
Hi, all Rollagas lighters have the Dunhill stamp inside the lid. It's not stamped into the lid, it's stamped onto a thin metal plate. I've seen a few were the plate is missing. Not a problem.

my rollagas (i think) lighter doesn’t have a flame height adjuster like yours does, are there lighters that don’t have the same parts as the one you have?
Can you show us a photo of the lighter.
Its likey a petrol. You can’t adjust lighter fluid.

Hi, If the lighter is leaking from the base, it's the o-ring seals, if it's leaking from the side near the roller it's the small rubber bung at the bottom of the needle assembly. I provide a repair service. If you want more info, you can contact me at smc30011@gmail.com

Dear Stephen - I purchased a used Dunhill Rollagas lighter from 1986 (according to , it's from 1986 because it has an A/D shield on the bottom). I need to buy flints for it, but don't know what type, can you recommend something to me in your professional opinion? When I measure the barrel in which the flint goes in, it is approx 2.5mm in circumference, and about 5mm in length. I am tempted to buy generic flints b/c they are easier to find whereas I can only find "Dunhill Blue Flints" and not the red ones. Reading through forums, it looks like the "Dunhill Blue Flints" are 1mm whereas the red are 1.5mm (in circumference? They aren't clear). I'm in Belgium, so the market is limited. Thank you.
Dunhill blue flints are for petrol lighters, red flints for butane lighters. You can use Zippo gold flint for your lighter.

@@tramainedesenna I use KO-NICE butane, if you can't get that you can use any good quality butane, Zippo is OK.
@@stephenmcgill1453 Thank you Stephen. I'll look for KO-NICE and/or Zippo. There's a Dutch supplier of Dunhill butane, but they charge more for shipping than the product itself AND they charge shipping per item. Bloody scam. I appreciate you helping me.
