Not to nit pick but it seems like the only way you can spot deer using this method is when they're in a clearing. Also it Spooks the deer and adds pressure to your land. Maybe it'll be better in late October after the leaves fall but I'm not sure how well this scouting method is. Maybe if the drone had a zoomable optic so that you wouldn't need to get to close and spook the deer.
Now idk about other states but where I live I asked a cop and a game warden if it was ok to fly a drone out and about in the woods during hunting season and they INSTANTLY knew where I was headed with that question! Lol...they both said basically the same thing (and at different times!!) that it's totally illegal to fly a drone during hunting season in order to find where the deer/elk are!..but MAN I'd love to do it! Just fly a couple hundred feet above the trees canopy but high enough they wouldn't hear it flying!! I specifically bought one that would fly up to a mile or farther if it's a clear enough pathway!..such a damn awesome game changer!! Really wish it was legal!..like imagine being able to find the elk or Pacific Northwest ghost and flying close enough to o spot the nicest biggest trophy elk in the herd! Then sneaking around a cannon or 2 just to take a 6-800 yard shot on the dirty bastard! 🤤
Very grey area on using drones while hunting. Not allowed in Colorado where I live and many other states. I would not have the drone and rifle at same time but that's just me.
