The Tech Challenge 2016: Taking Flight

The Tech Challenge, presented by EMC, truly brings to life The Tech’s mission to inspire the innovator in everyone. This year, the annual youth engineering design challenge was Taking Flight, and student teams were asked to design and build launchers and gliders to deliver supplies to a remote location. More than 2,000 kids participated in the final event after working for months to test and improve their devices.
The final event on April 23-24 was filled with joy and disappointment, surprise and satisfaction. But above all, it brimmed with the extraordinary ingenuity and innovation of young people using skills that may someday solve the world’s great challenges.
The Tech Challenge would not be possible without presenting sponsor EMC, as well as Cisco Systems, SAP, Intel and Samsung. Thanks also to the more than 600 volunteers who supported the event.
We can’t wait to see everyone back in 2017, the 30th anniversary of The Tech Challenge!
