Dear Mark and Nadiyana, your rich, insightful and peaceful presentations of your travels brings joy to this formerly well traveled and now relatively stationary retired person. Bon voyage, Chris
Great episode. The mountain is mon ventoux. I cycled up it last year. The reason it is tree less, is because Napoleon had them all cut down to build his ships. That is a lovely area of France. Happy sailing.
We have recently started binge watching your videos from the very beginning and have taken over a month to reach this episode (It is now April 2021). We can't wait to get to the bit where you say why you changed boats. I am sure that someone has already told you this but the mountain at 11.00 is Mount Ventoux which we have climbed in our motorhome several times. It is not snow at the top (a mistake we made the first time we saw it), it is white rock devoid of vegetation. Keep up the good videos and eventually we will catch up to date. Regards Dave and Cathy (Driftwood Motorhome).
Hi Dave and Cathy, thanks for watching all the videos, hope you guys enjoyed them. The view is really beatiful, you guys were lucky to have gone up several times! See you in soon in the up to date videos:)
I get excited to see what the happy young couple of cheapskates (like I also am) are going to do next. I like how you split the filming and talking, close to 50% -50%, you're both great. I'm hoping that you will run into magic carpet, another of my favorite sailing channels. They are close to where you are. If you had a jam session, that would be epic.
@@gfimadcat I think you're right, but i'm still hoping they will meet in the med since the timing is close, although I think mc has a longer delay for their videos.
It’s the built in fluxgate compass in your tiller pilot that’s changing hence the course change. This compass is sensitive to magnetic fields and metals, that bridge would’ve contained a lot of metal and if it’s an electrical train line then you’ll have shed loads of electrical fields pulsing off the thing. It messes up the fluxgate compass in the tiller pilot. It’s very similar to your main ships compass, stick some metal or something electronic near it when your on a heading and watch that puppy spiral outta control . Great vid guys, Nadiyana I’m trying that recipie soon as I can find them Chinese spices. Looks delish 😋
Hello, just discover your channel. Nice video and picturesque views... The mountain you showed us just before arrival to Avignon is the "Mont Ventoux". And what you thoughg is snow was not. That was an entertaining video. The contrast with well built ancient architecture - Bishop's residence and a pleasing modern bridge with a sleek modern train swiftly gliding across. An ancient castle with a ferris wheel in the foreground. The tree lined boulavard - one of Napoleon's avenues, planted to shade his soldiers I think. Hunan cowboy looks like Lara Croft! - we can expect her bust to be pumped up from one video to the next then? LOL Truck computers used to wobble a bit when crossing bridges sometimes, rare now. Was thought to be due to static electric build up due to the way bridges are constructed and the rubber bearings insulate them from the rest of the ground. Like rubbing a balloon to make it stick to things.. I wish you fair winds.
It's bleak on one side, looking like a moonscape, and lush and woody on the other side. That would support the 'stripped bare of vegetation because of persistent high winds' explanation. It is very, very windy when you get near the summit.
... you are right those old city streets are amazing, breath taking .. great video, quite something the autopilot veering off under the bridge, do you think it is because of the steel, you said it was a train bridge are trains not electric there so there would be high current on the bridge as well and a large force field .. beautiful scenery on the river .. thx for sharing a peek into your travels .... as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....

I suspect the electrical current from the train power lines and the steel of the track are forming a mild electromagnet which is upsetting/tricking the compass in your autopilot? did it always turn the same way? or the same direction relative to the direction of the last train that went past?
It is not snow you see on the top of the mountain but rocks. ;) It is named "Mont Ventoux". There is nothing on the top of this moutain but rocks, no trees, no vegetagion, just rocks ! and the wind is so strong up there !

@cheap cigs maybe I exaggerated. A little bit. It's quite common to see people anchor up like sardines in a can, on super short scope, in a way that's best described as tipping the anchor and 20m of chain off the bow and then going to have drinks. And charter boats are always a source of dread, or entertainment, depending on how close they are to your boat :D
@@WildlingSailing getting there on the fuel pump, it's going to turn into one heck of a shifty botch job but it should keep us running for another year. But, I have to admit, the Med is pretty nice when the weather cooperates. Lots of nice views and underwater life happening :D
Quickly became a fav. At first I was mad down damn canal instead of sailing. But I enjoyed it. Started with I ain't taking down mast to go down a canal. But I may be doing it one day to get out of the great lakes.
So interesting that the autopilot can feel the magnetic field of the bridges more strongly than the earth’s field. Intriguing. You can see how a magnetometer can detect submarines and other large steel structures.
Mont Ventoux has the highest summit in the Vaucluse. Topped with a white crest that gives it the illusion of eternal snows, its highest peak rises to 1912 metres. From its summit, in good weather, the 360° view stretches from the Alps to the Mediterranean Sea, from the Écrins Massif to the hills of the Cévennes, from the Sainte-Victoire Mountain to the Alpilles passing through the Étang de Berre and coming back to the Rhône Valley. At its feet, the plain of the Comtat Venaissin and the slopes of the Ventoux follow on from the lavender-covered plateaus of Sault, before refreshing itself in the Valley of the Toulourenc.

@@stephenmundane As I stated, as a general time period and geographic area, people were shorter back then. Neolithic people were ~5'7", shrinking to 5'2", especially during the Maunder minimum. Variations occur for all sorts of reasons, especially in skeletons, as not everyone lives, or is buried equally.
