Progressive or Pandering: Volvo's 'Women Only' YCC Concept - A Cynical Look

A look at the design choices and interesting elements of the Volvo YCC, possibly the first concept car (and almost certainly the first one directly marketed as such) designed By Women For Women. Despite this, there are some elements that come across as either subtly or overtly pandering to female stereotypes, or just quite bizarre, such as the use of technology these days reserved for children's stickers or North Korean postage stamps. Yes, really. Ah well. What fun we have.

It makes no sense for any car to _not_ have a hood or any way to service the engine.

With Sweden's (and Europe's) current internal security 'situation', they should have put an emphasis on security features, such as reinforced glass, all-around pepper spray dispensers, retinal identification, etc, etc.

Women in the US buy vehicles marketed to men. When marketed for women, they don't buy it. Women buy trucks, 4x4s and SUVs marketed for men.
