The man knows what he's talking about. My wife and I drink a couple pots a day and had not cleaned our pot like this in at least a year, possibly closer to two. It started taking a long time to brew a pot of coffee and I knew I needed to clean it with vinegar but kept putting it off until finally I broke down and cleaned it today. I ran the machine with vinegar and baking soda 3 times because of the amount of crud that kept coming out, then ran 3 pots of just plain fresh water changing the filter every time so i could identify if the crud stopped coming out of it. Then I washed and thoroughly rinsed the basket that holds the coffee, the pot itself and the outside of the entire machine. It now brews a pot of coffee 10 times faster and tastes so much better. It didn't even take very long considering how long I put it off.

Real ingenuity is taking the knowledge that we have and finding new ways to apply it onto our everyday lives.
We all know of the volcano science project for school, but before watching this I did not know it could be applied like this. And to think I was gonna spend extra bucks on a gallon of CLR.
    Thank you kindly sir.

First I used half vinegar then half water in my 3 yr. old Hamilton Beach Brew Station. Hoot I should of watched your vid first, oh well so I did a second cleaning with your recipe. I was a little hesitant to mix the Vinegar w/Baking Soda since it foams up so I used a clear large pickle jar to mix in. I waited for the foam to settle down. The second time with the baking soda/vinegar mix was dirtier than the first cleaning with half water half vinegar! I was surprised at how much more grime your mix pulled out of my coffee maker! So I tried your mix on my 8 mos. old Sboly single pod coffee maker. Sure enough, there was a lot of sediments and cloudy liquid that was in there too! My little experiment worked & I have cleaner coffee thanks to you! Keep up the great work Kenny! I appreciate your tips!👏👏👏👏👏😁😁

    Hmmm_
Baking soda is alkaline and vinegar very acidic:
The bubbling that happens when they're mixed is neutralization (acidity canceling the alkaline vice-versa)
Running the baking soda mixed in water first then an additional cycle with white vinegar and water 1:1 is the trick I believe you're going for.
*Edit: hope you're all well and god bless*

I'm slightly confused because baking soda is a great embrace of cleanser and vinegar is a great acid cleanser. But when you put the two together they cancel each other out. Separately they are wonderful not so inherently when they're mixed together.
Maybe hot water and baking soda through the first time followed by the vinegar
Or follow the vinegar with the baking soda so you can neutralize the vinegar out of the coffee pot?
I don't always run to p plain water for coffee pot cycles through before making

I saw a comment below that said baking soda and vinegar neutralize each other...so I googled it... Sure enough it's a fact, I saw the same answer from multiple searches.
Does baking soda cancel out vinegar when cleaning?
Conclusion. Mixing baking soda and white vinegar is not the be-all, end-all cleaning solution. Used separately, both substances are great. Together, though, they cancel each other out.
I followed your directions though (still in the cleaning process) but what's in the carafe doesn't look too promising. I've never cleaned this coffee pot (about 2 years old).
After this cleaning I'm going to follow the majority of what others say Vinegar and water (about half and half) This coffee pot is going to get a workout tonight! haha

You should not use vinegar in modern coffee machines. The plastics that are typically used in these devices are only moderately compatible with acetic acid. You citric acid instead. that is also cheap, and won´t attack the plastics.

    • @godgunsandkenny
      @godgunsandkenny  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you my friend for sharing, you make a good point, but I believe that anything or any type of plastic that can handle hot water can easily be cleaned with vinegar and baking soda without harming the coffee maker, sure some might be made of thin plastic but I think weather it’s new older, no problem,👍👍👍god bless ,
