Once again someone not knowing the proper application of the knife they a promoting, holding it totally wrong and clueless about the ergonomics of the handle design. The recessed cut out is for indexing where your thumb should rest when holding the knife in the reverse grip. The cutting edge should always be facing away from your body, wrist and forearm.
They say when you have haters your doing pretty good. You have no videos or subscribers for your channel at this time. So I am uncertain if you have had any martial arts training or are from a military background if so please share with us. This grip is called a P’kal grip from my understanding having taken a class with Ed Calderon who collaborated on this knife with Kopis Designs to create this it is intended to be used in this grip. That is not to say you couldn’t use it in the grip you are describing. Also the recessed cutout is again from my understanding to know the orientation of the knife/ which way the knife is facing not for your thumb to rest on.
" The cutting edge should always be facing away from your body, wrist and forearm." That is contrary to the main way the designers demos the knife use. The demos from Ed Calderon I've seen are edge in.
I just put grip tape on mine…
Thank you

Wrong on everything. This knife is to be used in the so called pikal style, means tip down, edge inwards.
