    I found burnishing makes my paper have the opposite effect of bleeding. Bleeding soaks a lot of ink but after burnishing egg white + alum coating paper I find that ink refuses to stick on the paper and the paper acts as hydrophobic surface. Any remedy for this?

    Doesn't the egg white cause the gold to stick to the whole paper? Or do you use a resist?

    What is the purpose of the black tea? And why not just use a commercially sized, smooth hot press paper? Is it just about preserving tradition or are there genuine benefits of this approach over anything commercially available?

    • @mazaito8111
      @mazaito8111 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even if it s the tradition thé reason why they apply this tea is to give it this color. Overtime your White paper normally Will turn yellow so the Will stabelise it to this tint.that what i heard .

    • @bluewren65
      @bluewren65 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mazaito8111 Interesting. Yellowing of paper isn't a problem if acid-free archival paper is used. If the paper is archival, then the use of the tea to simply colour the paper would make sense. I'm just wondering whether the tea serves any other functional process?

    Please tell me, how many layers of egg whites are required? And some people use corn flour for paper sizing. They cook corn flour , Do you know process of that also?

    • @arabianwanderess
      @arabianwanderess 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I heard of the corn starch process and I heard it's even better than the eggs, but I don't know it well. I apply one even layer

      @yashasvibhuta4969 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should ideally apply two layers of egg white

    How long will the papers take to dry out ? İ mean , do u use immediately after drying ?

    • @IslamicIllumination
      @IslamicIllumination  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the room temperature, but it does not take too long. An hour or two. Touch it and you will know if it's dry or not. Yes I use it right after it's dry

      You can use a smooth seashell to substitute the burnishing tool.

    does the acid in the tea affect how archival the final painting is? can you neutralize it with baking soda before staining the paper with it?

    • @IslamicIllumination
      @IslamicIllumination  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried that before, but I don't feel like it affects the paper negatively. You could experiment though!

  • @ZH-bg7lk

    Hi, is it necessary to stain the paper for tazhib?

    • @IslamicIllumination
      @IslamicIllumination  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally like to do it because I paint with white and I think it looks good, but some illuminators don't do this step, so it's really up to you
