Another forgotten gem worth mentioning: *Kenka Bancho Badass Rumble.* It's basically Yakuza crossed with Kunio-Kun, about a bancho (teen gang leader) wandering around a 3D Kyoto, hanging out and beating the crap out of other banchos. The beat-em-up gameplay is fun and there's a LOT to discover, although it can get a bit repetitive over time.
Somewhat of a short game too and the most memorable part of the series was the "Insult exchange" before a fight ( I think you can win by default if the insult was more effective to a certain school) and different squatting types.
The only problem with the psp I had was I couldnt play it for long due to that horrible analogue stick that would cause some serious cramp. Couldnt deny the library of games though
THANK YOU! I’ve been shouting out Crimson Gem Saga for years now and haven’t been seeing it anywhere! I got way happier for that entry here than I should’ve. Anyone who reads this comment, I recommend it 110%.
I was so worried that Dead Head Fred was not gonna appear on this list. Dead Head Fred is one extremely hidden Gem that really deserves way more attention. Combat is meh, but the world, story, characters, style, music, and humor more then make up for it.
Tbf to them PSP had a slew of JRPGs that were hidden gems (mostly due to not being released in all territories. Being a massive fan of that particular genre meant I imported a huge chunk of my collection.
4:13 the gameplay reviewers described as repetitive hack and slash, while "gamers" lauded as a great way to blow off steam. As if both of these statements can't be true? As if both parties aren't on the money? Honestly, a repetitive hack and slash is almost by definition a great way to blow off steam. Mindlessly engaging, tediously absorbing. Everything has its place.
I remember playing the CRUSH demo on my 3DS and loving it! Always forgot it’s name so never got to play it fully but may have to pick it up now I know ❤
I still play God of War and Gran Turismo on my 2000 model now and again, but battery life is on it's way out, will transfer the games on my Vita soon, the PSP is still my most nostalgia console ever
Bounty Hounds - You start from a central hub, buy equipment, accept assignments, venture out into a segmented map, kill creatures and scavenge their remains, then bring those items back to the hub area where you can sell them, or use them to craft new items. Nope, doesn't sound like a Monster Hunter Hunter ripoff at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad game, but it's one of many that seems to "borrow" major elements of Monster Hunter.
I will fight to the death that The Sims 2 was one of the best psp games ever. Has such a unique and fun story to play through in one of only a few games that lets you fully take control of the character
I'd rather play Brave Story over Crimson Gem Saga. Brave Story's, well story has better flow then Crimson Gem Saga and a bit less clutter-ey feeling on its world design. And does Undead Knight considered as a hidden gem?
I want to thank everyone involved in the project, the cast and crew the producers and everyone who believed in my dream, you like me, you really, really like me!

18 years on from release, the PSP still looks amazing. I still regularly use my launch day model.
Nobody cares
@@XXXXX8Being rude for no reason sure is cool.
@@XXXXX8 you seemed to care by leaving that comment lmao
@@XXXXX8thanks for caring
I'm so happy to see Jeanne D'arc on the list! That was one of my favorites of this console and for sure deserves more notice.
We went from this to a ps5 controller cut in half with a screen superglued between them.
Jeanne D’Arc is my favorite PSP of all time. It’s really incredibly polished and the combat is satisfyingly complex yet fair.

This sounds so good. wtf

If I Had Owned a PSP Back Then I'd Play Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection, and The Power Stone Collection
Tekken 5 and Power Stone made my childhood

I wonder if Cladun was somehow inspiration for Miitopia (what with being able to create who the characters are and even the bosses)
This title looks like you saw you cat midway through writing it.
"10 Hidden Gems for the PSPSPSPSPSPSPSPSPSPSPS!!!"
another good point on Dead Head Fred is that the titular character is voiced by Dr Cox from Scrubs
Im happy to see Brave Story been mentioned. Is a great PSP RPG game that also has a good anime movie released on DVD.
RRRIIIDDDDGGGEEEE RACER! Remember that one?
I have all these, and they're all good. I don't have that Snoopy game, but I will most definitely track it down now.
I like how half of the list is just JRPGs
I mean. Sony is Japanese.
No you dont
And that's what is so cool about handheld consoles, Game Boy, PSP, DS and 3DS are home to a ton of excellent (and terrible) RPGs.
Tbf to them PSP had a slew of JRPGs that were hidden gems (mostly due to not being released in all territories. Being a massive fan of that particular genre meant I imported a huge chunk of my collection.
@@maximillionroivas3893 Acting like every console doesn't have 1000 RPGs

Also check out Death Jr and Chili Con Carnage, the PSP has a great library
Damn I miss the PSP
Makes a video about hidden gems on the PSP. Puts Crush and Jeanne d'Arc on it......

I love you TripleJump.

Maximillian is in the game !? Let’s gooooo!

* Opens rom download list & readies for backlog addition*
might need to try that snoopy game
Best hand-held gaming device

"High quality screen." Lol. Not if you had the PSP-1000. Cladun reminds me a lot of 3D Dot Game Heroes on the PS3.
I'd rather play Brave Story over Crimson Gem Saga. Brave Story's, well story has better flow then Crimson Gem Saga and a bit less clutter-ey feeling on its world design.

So Bounty Hounds is in Strangereal, then.
Triple Jump PSP Time
Monster Hunter franchise was perfect on psp
Shit. I wanted Bounty Hounds but it didn't come out in Europe.
Big love❤❤❤❤
Where's Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity? 😂

Shouldn't it be "This is A RPG" not " an RPG"?
Say both out loud. That's why the subtitle is "This Is An RPG".
@@Spacething7474sounds awful to my ear, but happy to concede my ears are not universal.
