From Wiki: _Originally named "Classical Gasoline", the tune was envisioned to be "fuel" for the classical guitar repertoire. The title was later inadvertently shortened by a music copyist._
Videos of Jimi Hendrix, and the producer and the camera man had to mess with the filming, be part of the beautiful creation that was Jimi, as if they could add to it. So is putting an orchestra to this song.
@@Garage_gg No, it's not. This is the solo version from Mason's 1970 album "Handmade". It's also the version used by Mr. Clapton in the movie "The Story of Us" for which he was the musical director, hence the confusion. As for a version by Clapton, Eric himself has never recorded any version of this piece.
Im a drummer. Non drummers always ask " can you play wipeout? ". Of course thats easy.....if someone says they play guitar, i ask can you play " classical gas" ? No one can of course.🎶🎸🎼
Gary..I`ve been trying to learn this song for a long time..I`m maybe halfway there..the time changes on this song are confusing..i`ve been pretty much just counting it as a long series of triplets...123 123 123 123 pretty much from beginning to end
@@MrMZaccone it took me about 14 years to figure it all out and get it right but @garypugh1153 I finally got it. Playing Stairway to Heaven in the guitar shop will get you kicked out but playing this will draw a crowd. Mason Williams = brilliant!

My respects to Mr. Williams. I'd be surprised if anybody - ( other than Mr. Williams, of course ) has ever - even remotely come close to producing a perfect version of Classical Gas. .
Eric Clapton? (j/k) I absolutely adore this version: th-cam.com/video/0vXtywOlayc/w-d-xo.html , Mr. Williams is also one of the performing artists but the addition of the harp makes the melody stand out even more. (Edit: yt doesn't understand its own domain extension)

Spot on
A really nice rendition of Classical Gas, minus the orchestra-over and over and over. I love this music.
This one is a cover by Eric Clapton
@@Garage_gg No, Eric Clapton never recorded this version... it's a misconception and a fairytale

Haha! I had just restarted the song when I saw the description that said 'now you don't have to push the replay button..'!
Am actual dream come true. Well done. WELL DONE.
Like one of the greatest rock instrumentals ever recorded.
In terms of the amount of airplay it's had, it is, in fact, THE greatest. No pop instrumental has ever had more airplay ... period.
Now do Classical Gas.
Haha simpsons funny
Lenny = white
Carl = black
Oh yes please do. I too am waiting ❤❤❤❤
LoL. I wish I could play like Mason Williiams 😎
Music connect the Soul !

Lenny approves this!
I like the 17th rendition the most.
How many listened to the "10 hour" TH-cam version, all the way thru and listened? Maybe us who are "trying" to learn to play it. Good luck Ya'll.

So, you're a drummer, can you play Classical Gas on drums? ;) (I bet you could with enough imagination, and a big enough kit)
