This is actually Zack Snyder's personal favorite of his, mostly because this was released exactly the way he wanted it. A good majority of his Director's Cuts; Watchmen, Rebel Moon, Batman v Superman, and especially Justice League, all had studio-mandated theatrical recuts, with his original cuts being released on DVD. This is one of his only major works where the theatrical cut IS the Director's Cut. He did admit there were a few scenes left on the cutting room floor, but they barely made any significance on the story, so it didn't compromise the movie in any way.

@@passionsquietrageActually, the Ultimata Edition feels like a completely different movie to me. I HATED the movie when I saw it in theaters. Absolute despised it. But when I watched the Ultimate Edition on Max because a friend asked me to give it a chance, I felt like I was watching a completely different movie that I loved.
@randallwright1973 What's so bad about the theatrical release? The story makes sense and flows smoothly, the visuals look great and and the acting performances were fantastic. What's not to like?
Nah, the logo was The Dark Knight Trilogy one. As Zack said, it was just a thank you note to Christopher Nolan for asking WB to hire him and helping him during the film's production.
@AshrafAnam No. It wasn't. It was the Wayne Industries Logo. You LITERALLY SEE the big ass "W" that is their trademark. The Dark Knight Trilogy doesn't HAVE its own specific Logo.
@Raivo_K What have the studios butchered in the theatrical versions? That said, the studios need to be barred from the production process for every movie and do nothing more than finance and distribute the movie. Let the director do the job they were hired to do with no changes or deletions, only release the director's cut.
The radiation from Earth yellow sun which is much younger than kryptons is the source of his powers, his body harnesses radiation and turns it into raw power
Not quite. They are still much stronger, but the gravity on krypton is higher and the atmosphere is denser. While they are "Normal" there, humans wouldn't be able to live on Krypton.
I respect Henry so much. He really went his own way with this Superman. By starting out with this less-is-more man alone fallible outcast, he gave Superman such room to grow as a character.
Early on, during the bar scene, you mentioned that Clark had such self control. Several comics/tv episodes/etc have made the point that one of Clark's big struggles is holding himself back, not from releasing his anger, but from simply using his normal strength. He is an M1 Abrams tank in China Shop with priceless Ming Dynasty vases, and *every single action* has to be held back from his "normal" strength or he risks hurting the ones he loves. Yeah. His self control is amazing.
I like the contrast of Zod & Clark's upbringing. Clark is unable to do anything but help - that's what all 4 of his parents gave him, that moral compass you mentioned. Zod? "I exist only to serve krypton". Zod sees his one purpose, The one that he was literally built for, as the only possible way. so yes, he will save Krypton even if it means genocide or anything else. powerful commentary about what shapes a person.
Yup. This movie's main theme is freedom versus societal control. Zod's people decided he was going to be their hero before they started growing him. All four of Clark's parents wanted him to choose for himself. That's why the book Clark was carrying when those kids were bullying him was Plato. Plato wrote Republic, which is about examining different forms of government. It's also why the church has the Garden of Gethsemane stained glass while Clark is having his own Gethsemane moment. Because it's the one time in the Bible that Jesus shows that he has a choice of whether or not to go through with the plan.
DCEU You can dive into the Snyderverse Man of Steel BvS: Ultimate Edition Wonder Woman Suicide Squad: Extended Edition (closest thing we will get to Ayer Cut) Zack Snyder's Justice League
@ That’s why there’s a whole push to restore it rather than keeping it in the grave. Very astute observation. I’ll tell you though you’re not the brightest.
And the part where she said it, where Superman flew off after Lois said they read her mind, he was just piecing 2 and 2 together and realizing that Lois knew where his mother was, therefore now Zod did, too.
Vicky, Jor El (Superman's father) is not a ghost. It's an AI version of his father (that his father programmed into that Kryptonian 'thumb drive') that was activated when Clark inserted it into the Kryptonian space ship that was buried in ice. Jor El had programmed his AI-self into that 'drive' to help guide his son when he was old enough.
YES YES YES YES YES YES OMG YES I'VE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THIS Please watch the Ultimate Edition for Batman v Superman and Zack Snyder's Justice League instead of just Justice League. Makes a world of difference.
@@MetaCinemaYTyou watched the wrong JL bro. There's a new one. The one you watched in theatres was just a botched up version of the one I'm talking about. It's called Zack Snyder's Justice league. It's 4 hours long. Wasn't released kn theatres.
Always remember that Superman and the Kryptonian’s powers come from either the radiation of yellow or blue stars. Giving them essentially limitless power. But they can’t absorb sunlight from the red stars which Krypton orbits around. So if you take away a yellow or blue sun, you slowly take away their powers.
The final showdown with Zod and Superman was everything I ever wanted to see in a Superman movie. This film is so beautiful. If you are watching Batman V Superman make sure it is the Ultimate Cut so you get the true complete story!
Zod is a brilliant villain in this masterpiece. Every great villain doesn’t believe they are the villain. Zod was bred and raised to protect krypton so in his logic he is justified
_"Every great villain doesn’t believe they are the villain."_ Well, that is not entirely true. A few great villains relish being the villain e.g. Hans Gruber from Die Hard.
If you're going to watch Bvs, make sure to go with the Ultimate Edition, as the plot is more fleshed out on that version. After that, one would be tempted to go with Justice League, but I believe Wonder-Woman should come before that. Hope you'll have a good time with the DCEU, despite its flaws and mistakes (mostly originated by WB's incompetence).
Batman vs Superman (ultimate edition) & Zack Snyder's Justice League are both a must watch! I'm glad you enjoyed this movie so much, it's one of my favorites!
40:59 “7,000 likes and I’ll watch ittt” Just watch it! It’s not a legendary masterpiece, but it’s still a good movie! And make sure it’s the Ultimate Edition, which is the extended cut!! Theater version sucked
I love both "Superman (1978)" and "Man of Steel." They are very different, but I feel this movie is more realistic. This movie is to closer to how people would probably react to someone like Superman, IMO.
The bottom line is he didn’t connect with audiences. Yes, I know he has plenty of fans, but not enough to build a cinematic universe around him. The fact that a movie named Batman V Superman couldn’t clear a billion in its sleep in 2016 is a major indictment of WB, Snyder and everyone else involved creatively.
@@keefriff99 if you account for inflation, 873 million in 2016 is 1.1 billion in 2024. Just because it didn't clear a billion in the box office doesn't mean it flopped like some say. It still did far better than most MCU and DCEU films. Would you say the fact that Winter Soldier did 714 million at the box office is a testament to the quality of the movie? Because I would argue Winter Soldier is in the Top 3 for the MCU for sure.
@@MetaCinemaYT No of course not, but we’re talking Superman and Batman here. That’s more analogous to Civil War (which did almost $1.2 billion). Marvel took Iron Man alone and made the character iconic by casting RDJ and taking their time developing his character. I’m just saying with the proper casting, storytelling and buildup, that movie should have been massive, but it was botched. WB wasn’t thrilled with the performance of either MoS or BvS.
@@keefriff99 I hope you realize how stupid WB was. The argument that "they weren't happy with the film's performance" is silly considering they're the ones that forced Snyder's hand in cutting extremely important scenes out of his films for the sake of run time. WB screwed themselves. While BvS was still extremely successful in the box office, nobody got the complete film until the Ultimate Edition released after it left theaters. The theatrical cut of the film was missing an entire 30 minutes of important plot that left the story a bit nonsensical at times. All in all, I disagree that Snyder was to blame for anything. WB sabotaged their own creative process from the start and abandoned ship when it went sideways.
Now watch Superman II. I personally like the Donner Cut over the theatrical cut because it is how it was SUPPOSED to be before the producers fired and replaced Donner even though it was about 70% finished.
Donner did said on his interview on behind donner's cut that even that movie still not his true vision because of producer meddling. He said that movie supposed to have different climax and ending but he can't reshoots old movie anymore so he just reinsert principal photograph and Lester ending.
its amazing how you've actually understood the movie and the idea Snyder had to make Clark discovering himself throughout the movie. At the end, he's not the superman we know from the comics yet. he's getting there. And although well never see it now, the vision here was beautiful.
Zod's plan to turn the world's atmosphere into Kryptonite's atmosphere is so stupid to say the least especially after he finds out that they can all be super-powered like Clark. Isn't that worth more even after the newborns will have to struggle to learn their power? And this plan was easier cause they only had to kill Clark to achieve that. I like that V already noticed that.
@@evilincoln23 Umm... Not really. Russell Crowe's ghost explained that both the young sun of ours and atmosphere of our planet will help Krypnoites to gain power like Clark. I gues you didn't watch the movie yet.
@@mahmudurrahman8377 I mean the lore has always been that krypton revolved around a red super giant. Non ionizing radiation from a yellow star is what gives them their powers. It’s also why kryptonite acts like a poison on earth and not when it’s a part of krypton. I’ve seen the movie a lot of times and I agree it’s not a great plan just because I think it’s kinda pointless. As to jor-el’s ghost I always took that as more figure of speech than a literal statement of fact but to each his own.
Yeah,I've been saying the same thing on other MOS channels for years. LOL. A major flaw in this film and a dumb tactic by Zod,who's supposed to be so smart/intelligent.But,we the viewers will grant Zod a pass on account of the script writers. LOL.
You should definitely give Smallville a try. The origin story of Clark Kent(before Superman). Definitely my favorite comic book iteration. Truly gives us some of the best versions of characters in the whole history of the characters. Ten seasons over 200 episodes. Really absolutely worth the watch. It will make you laugh, cry, say “damn that was awesome”. The creators of the show just got widely recognized for creating the Wednesday show as well as writing the screenplay for the new beetlejuice movie. Always hold on to Smallville
In the tornado scene of this film Henry Cavill looked and acted exactly like Tom Welling did in Smallville! I'm pretty sure it was done like that on purpose, paying homage to Smallville
@ ha that scene always bothered me from this film. It’s like they didn’t understand how to write Johnathan Kent. Clark would have saved him & worry about his identity later. Like even the bus scene Clark was even like “what am I supposed to let them die..” Johnathan Kent is the reason why he is known as SUPERman.
The reason Mos fights look so realistic is because they follow 2 main principles. Inertia and 3rd law of motion. All high power moments have a insanely fast acceleration + destruction of the ground nearby to show the force imparted. I never quite liked how marvel has that constant movement instead of the explosive start then gradual slow down due to drag that is more realistic and weighty.
I saw this when it came out, and I remember thinking it was the first accurate portrayal of how powerful Superman is supposed to be in the movies. Christopher Reeve set the standard for us, but Henry Cavill was a worthy successor to the role.
VKunia; loved your reaction. Thank you for doing this. I was 24 when "Smallville" started on the CW, and loved it's take on Clark going to highschool, finding himself, dealing with Lex Luther as first friend and later enemy. It's still good, but maybe a bit dated. To get the kind of gritty, melancholy Superman you saw here... try the one that just ended (also on CW). "Superman and Lois" was not something I bought into right away, but it was SO GOOD, it ended up stealing my heart.
One of the scenes that stuck me was that classroom shot, Clark becoming aware of his power/surroundings. - “The world’s too big mom!” - “Then make it small” ❤🌍🧑🧑🧒
I loved how you felt the awesomeness of Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Superman. In my opinion Christopher Reeve invented how to portray Superman in movies. But Henry Cavill perfected it and adapted it for our times. I do not see anyone or anything changing that in the coming ten or twenty years. Zack Schneider is a very underrated director capable of bringing mythology of all kinds to the silver screen in an almost untouchable way. He doesn’t get enough credit for his craft. Sure, everyone has a bad day at the office, but there’s very little that trumps 300 and Man Of Steel!
If there’s one character in comics I can relate to, it’s Superman. Mostly because of the movies and Smallville and that’s because I’m adopted myself. Inspite of knowing I was adopted my whole life, it still left me feeling like an outsider at times and I felt like I was different from the rest of my family. So when I saw those themes of Clark growing up and discovering who he was, I immediately latched on to that, unfortunately I’m not a super powerful alien that can fly, but I still love it. Henry Cavill is the best Superman since Christopher Reeve, and I will die on that hill. I get that Warner is trying to move away from the Snyderverse, but I still wish we could get more of Henry as Superman. Too bad time ran out and we got a whole new DC universe coming. I’m hopeful though, maybe James Gunn will do it justice we all just have to wait and see.
I always want to like any movie with Superman in it, but what I've seen of the two upcoming ones makes me doubt that I will. I think the studio will miss-identify why people liked the Christopher Reeve Superman and they'll make Clark weak and boring, like they did with Superman Returns.
Something that most people don't mention is that Lois saw past the eyeglasses disguise. The casual person who sees Superman at a distance might be fooled by the trickery of putting on glasses. In an aside, I have seen people in a work uniform, got used to seeing that way for months, then saw them outside of work, and yeah, there is a Clark Kent disguise moment you fall for, especially when you don't "know" the person, but casually saw them in your daily life. Your eyes and memory fool you.
I highly recommend and would like to see how u do with the smallville tv show. Definitely worth a watch. It does pretty well about showing his jouney to become superman. Plus tom wellings acting is pretty damn good in it.
If you get around to Batman v Superman, make sure you watch the Ultimate Cut. It’s 3 hours but way better than the theatrical cut. Then, if you make it to Justice League, watch the Snyder Cut. It’s 4 hours but I promise it’s worth it.
Despite some minor plot flaws (like a Kryptonian general losing a fight to a scientist), this is still my favorite DC movie. I'm glad you enjoyed it too.
As stated by others, kryptonians absorb radiation from the sun to get their powers but krypton has a red dwarf sun so they dont have powers on their home planet but as protrayed in this film and other interpretations, kal el or clark kent becomes stronger as he grows up because hes constantly absorbing the yellow suns radiation, so over time through his childhood, he develops the x ray and heat vision etc.
Man of Steel is my favorite #1 DCEU movie 💪 It’s not perfect, but I love it, Henry Cavill is amazing, some heartfelt moments and I LOVE the superspeed physics, especially the fast fighting moves, so well done
1. man of steel 2. BvS : ultimate edition (theatrical version is a mess) 3. wonder woman 4. zack snyder's justice league. (the theatrical version is a mess)
AGREED.I saw this film at the cinema and was blown away how the show runners up date Superman for a modern audience. The original Superman film from 1978 is an out dated relic with corny and chessy dialog.Superman Returns is very bland and boring,I feel asleep at the movie theatre while watching it,I was snoring so loud some one woke me up and had to apologize for snoring. I was very embarassed. LOL.
one peeve i have with snyder's spin is having clark's dad tell him he might need to let folks die to protect his anonymity. comic classic dad would never say that and clark would never sacrifice a soul just to stay in hiding. comic classic clark would never let dad die in a hurricane -- he'd have super-sped dad outta there faster than the eye could see, even against dad's wishes.
The thing there is that he was younger, not a classic Superman, if anything this movie is about the "man of steel", the one who will become Superman. Also, it's just another take, a new version of him.
Letting Jonathan Kent die at his own insistence is what I hate the most about this film. His parents raised him to be moral, empathetic, generous, and selfless. Without that basic personality structure to build upon, you don't have Superman, you have some other guy.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps There is absolutely nothing to be misunderstood. Jonathan wanted him to keep his powers a secret in order to continue living a normal life without being feared or worse by the government or the general public, even if it means letting people die. He tells him he should have maybe let everyone on the bus die for his own sake. That is stupid and awful. It is the anti-Uncle Ben morality. There are good ways to present this dilemma, but none of them end with choosing selfishness over doing the right thing.
The reason Kal’s parents could escape is because Kryptonian society has regressed and abandoned space travel. They built a small ship for their son but didn’t have the time or resources for a bigger one
Aliens: Release the world engine, Military: It's going to land in the South Indian Ocean VKunia: Wow, Kansas is really getting beaten up right now... 💀
When this first came out there was a big divide among superman fans, which I get. Criticisms with Johnathan Kent, the abundance of destruction, killing Zod. However I always saw this movie as a catalyst for another movie where we get to see the "ideal" superman. The animated movie of "All-Star Superman" translated that well, great comic to. Henry Cavill did a great job. Too bad the DCU was such a mess.
I *am* a fan of Superman; have been my whole life. Whether it's the Christopher Reeve movies or the cartoons or the live-action TV shows, I think he's a fantastic character, and this movie is my absolute favorite of them all. I'll never understand people who say that Superman isn't "angsty". Of course he is. In the Christopher Reeve movies, he struggles with his role on the Earth. In the DC animated universe, he gives his epic "world of cardboard" speech and is right on the edge of being a villain at times. Anyone who thinks that Henry Cavill's version is somehow "not like how Superman is" clearly don't know enough about Superman. I'm so glad you decided to watch this movie, and I hope you do continue to watch the rest of his adventures. Just make sure you watch the Director's Cuts where available; the Ultimate Edition of "Batman v Superman", the Extended Cut of "Suicide Squad", and "Zack Snyder's Justice League" (never watch the theatrical version). "Wonder Woman" and "Aquaman" don't have Director's Cuts, but their theatrical versions are fine.
Well, yes and no. Yeah, logically, Clark has a lot of baggage related to being the (almost) last representative of his species, a home and family he'll never really know, and living on a world where he has such incredible power he has to be extremely careful every single moment. But it's that he conquers all that to still believe in doing what he can to help out, to be a kind, gentle, uplifting beacon of hope that makes him really exceptional. This movie had a good balance of that, taking a realistic look at his internal struggles, but showing him choosing to embrace what Superman can represent. BvS really dialed up the angst, and since you can see the seeds of it planted here, makes this film feel bleaker by comparison. In short, yeah, Superman has angst, but generally chooses to rise above it.
@@erikbjelke4411 He's also "kind and gentle" in BvS, as well. I'd give examples here, but V hasn't watched it yet. They're more evident in the Ultimate Edition, which is one of the reasons people should watch that version. But even in the theatrical, it's shown that he ultimately chooses hope, even if he has his moments of doubt.
@@PaperbackWizard Well. . . I also want to avoid spoilers, so I'll just say I see what you're saying, and I misspoke regarding what I feel is the main flaw in BvS.
Henrys my Superman, Tobey's my Spider-Man, Keaton , Conroy and Bale's my Batman, Hugh Jackmans my Wolverine, and I'm content with what I grew up with because what's coming out now and in the future , I do not care about.
12:20 I genuinely don't know how I would react if I was starting a fight, and then I tried to shove them with all my strength and they don't even budge and I bounce off of them lol
The thing that I love with female reactions is when they just let their thoughts pour out into words, it's like a computer promting what files it's processing. It is real and it shows
Zod didn't want Earth because its yellow sun would make Kryptonians strong. Can you imagine how difficult it would be to keep order (and Zod is a fascist, so he's _extremely_ concerned with keeping order) on a planet where everybody can fly, punch through walls and dodge weapons fire? Nah, Zod was going to take Earth because it just so happened to be a habitable planet and he needed one of those. Then Clark kept getting in his way and taking Earth became more about "punishing" Clark for that.
Batman will forever be my favorite DC hero, but there is no real question that Superman is the greatest hero there is. He unequivocally embodies the best ideals that people should strive to be… the older I get, the more I realize this.
As a kid in the 70's, I do have a special place in my heart for Christopher Reeves Superman but really, I think this was the best of all the Superman iterations and Cavill was perfect for the part.
Those huge machines ("world engines") kryptoformed planets rather than terraformed them, as Terra is Latin for Earth, so that process is specific to creating an Earth-like environment, which Krypton definitely was not (it had a different atmospheric composition, for starters).
My biggest issue with this movie is how they killed Johnathan Kent. I get the angle that Snyder was going for I just think it's a weak way to do it. The more classic version of his death is much better in my opinion. In most iterations of Superman, his dad dies from a heart attack. Something that Clark, one of the strongest beings in the universe most of the time, is powerless to stop. I just feel like it teaches a more important lesson for Clark and has a heavier impact than letting his Dad die needlessly because they were trying to hide Clark's powers.
It was done in a very ham-fisted way. There’s no way Clark would just stand there and watch his father die when he had the ability to save him, revealing his power or not.
@@keefriff99 I was about to say that. I hated that moment in this movie. It just took me right out of it. I can't imagine a person willing to watch their father die when they have the power to stop it, let alone with minimal risk to themselves, let alone while watching it happen in essentially slow motion (due to super speed) who would do that? And it didn't serve the plot...what did it show? That Clark is willing to sacrifice his father to save himself? That he trusts his father unquestioningly for no good reason? It's silly. From Johnathan's perspective it shows that Clark is his real son, because a real father would sacrifice himself for his son, sure...but that develops Johnathan's humanity at the expense of Clark's humanity. It was such a terrible scene it comes close to ruining the entire movie.
I am just watching „Zack Snyder’s Justice League". Can’t wait your others Reactions of the DCEU 😁. Anyway, I suggest you watch Batman V Superman Ultimate Edition
If you grew to like Superman I suggest watching Smallville show. It's basically a coming of age story for Superman with plenty of time to develop him as a character, comíng in terms with his superpowers one by one and gives a lot of time to shine even to small characters movies barely mention. It has my favourite version of not just him but also his parents, Lex Luthor and definetly my favourite Lois Lane by far. It's a lot of teenage drama but I think you would enjoy it.
I remember going back to SUPERMAN RETURNS - At the time we were sad for not only the loss of Christopher Reeve but also somewhat lamenting the fact that we never got more movies or any kind of effort from the studios to puersue the franchise at the time. So when Brandon Routh took the part his was an uncanny alignment and brilliant in its own right. Henry Cavill however took the mantle on in a way which managed to break from the original nostalgia and take the character in on its own merit. His performance is brilliant and whilst I know it's always possible to replace actors in parts I also happen to believe that Henry was a definitive step and his portrayal will be missed. The two following movies with Henry do come recommended but make sure you catch the director's cuts of them both.
As a huge Superman comic fan that loves the Reeves films , when Brandon took the role I was originally against it. But then actually watched it a few times. His role was definitely different but I love that film. Henry definitely is the best Superman however for me!
Superman returns is direct sequel to superman 2 donner's cut. Although Man Of Steel supposed to be soft remake of superman 2, it's stick to earth one comic where the tone of the earth one is sci-fi dark tone. Sadly most of people didn't know about earth one and they want WB to redo superman 2 lester's cut which is more closer to earth 2 fantasy genre with lighthearted tone. Sadly James gunn refused to do earth 2 and he already said he want to create his own universe similar to justice league unlimited cartoons. I blame studios execs, they never asked comic book writer about DC interpretation of this character but instead want to make it marvel 2.0 for DC and James gunn was hired for that purpose.
There's gonna be some hate when you get to Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League. Best watch Zack Snyder's Justice League, though, when you get to that. AND the extended edition of Suicide Squad. Edit: If you're all gonna come at me for liking certain films in the DCEU, then I suggest you shut up and don't watch Vee's reactions to it!
40:32 i feel like you talking about Smallville or CW versions. let me tell you, in 1978 if you walked out of Cinema after watching Superman: The Movie. You were an automatic Superman fan. That movie was the most expensive movie till it's date, and ONE OF THE BIGGEST movie of the decade (just behind Star Wars, Jaws, Grease and The Exorcist). Christopher Reeve was UNMATCHED for his portrait of Clark Kent, charming and powerful. Jack Snyder is great, but Richard Donner was a monkey printing Legend, like today's James Cameron, gets in different unique projects without a miss. we were born in an era when we never got Superman's exposure of a good movie, Man Of Steel is first for most of us where we like Superman on the big screen.
Johnathan Kent's death in this film is a joke. The whole point of his death, which is usually a heart attack, is to have Clark realize that he cannot save everyone. "All those things I can do. All those powers. And I couldn't even save him" - Clark, "Superman: The Movie", 1978.
@@PopsiCOLE He’s got a point. Personally, I prefer when they don’t kill off the Kents. Though the Kents do play a huge role in shaping what kind of Superman Clark Kent grows up to be. If both Kents die, Clark is more likely to become a moodier Superman. If he grows up in a world without other superheroes and one of the Kent's die protecting his secret, he’ll probably spend more time pushing away his powers and only become Superman later in life, shaped by his experiences with humanity, both good and bad. But if both Kents live, Clark is more likely to become a hopeful Superman, maybe even starting as Superboy in his teens before stepping into the role of Superman. I feel like this will be the key difference between Man of Steel (2013) and Superman (2025). This Superman saved Pa Kent from the Tornado thanks to existing in a world already filled with heroes so there was no reason for the Kents to push Clark to hide his powers. Would be a fun way to explain the reboot.
@PopsiCOLE it's part of Superman's origin. Superman can save someone from a fall, a burning building, a car accident, etc. He cannot save someone from natural internal causes. All he can do is be there for them.
@LittleGalaxyBoy Yes, but it also makes sense in man of Steel. This is a realistic world with realistic consequences. Clark was already a good person. And father Kent in Man of Steel needed to show him how his actions have consequences throughout the world. And that the world was not ready to see that kind of power yet. And it definitely wasn't.
“Can’t I keep pretending I’m your son?”

Top notch acting from both Costner and Dylan.
even the Italian Dub one is heart breakin'.... One of my fav lines of the movie. tears me up every time.
Or, in series "Yellowstone":
Jaime Dutton:
"I can't keep pretending I'm your son!"
John Dutton:
"That's fine by me because you never were my son to begin with!"

Not JUST a satellite; a Wayne Industries Satellite. Bruce is gonna be PISSED. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pocket change 😁
If you look closely at 38:43, "Wayne" is written right above the W. And the very subtle "Industries" is visible at the bottom of it.
@qumber Yeah, exactly, right?? Not sure where dude got the idea that the "W" means Warner Brother's. lol.
If you watch Batman v Superman, definitely make sure to watch the Ultimate Edition version
It actually doesn't matter which version one watches.
@@passionsquietrage yeah it actually does. The ultimate version explains a lot more.
@JakeMacAttack Was that explanation really needed though? Not really because it's not that hard to figure out
UE is the way to go. The studios often butcher the theatrical versions and nowhere is it more true than with WB and their interference.
@Raivo_K What have the studios butchered in the theatrical versions? That said, the studios need to be barred from the production process for every movie and do nothing more than finance and distribute the movie. Let the director do the job they were hired to do with no changes or deletions, only release the director's cut.
They are normal on their own home planet Krypton. It is Earths yellow sun that gives Kal/clark his super powers.
He's got the power of PHOTOSYNTHESIS.
Nah, he's just "the one" in this version of the Matrix. Morpheus was here in this version too.
The radiation from Earth yellow sun which is much younger than kryptons is the source of his powers, his body harnesses radiation and turns it into raw power
Not quite. They are still much stronger, but the gravity on krypton is higher and the atmosphere is denser. While they are "Normal" there, humans wouldn't be able to live on Krypton.
yea idk if you watched the whole video but yea she realizes..

Correction:Superman cannot read human minds. The part earlier where he was hearing the voices was him hearing whispers.
And the part where she said it, where Superman flew off after Lois said they read her mind, he was just piecing 2 and 2 together and realizing that Lois knew where his mother was, therefore now Zod did, too.
The punches in their planet are like what it would be like for us since they are a red sun planet. The younger yellow sun gives Superman his powers.

Always remember that Superman and the Kryptonian’s powers come from either the radiation of yellow or blue stars. Giving them essentially limitless power.
_"Every great villain doesn’t believe they are the villain."_
Well, that is not entirely true. A few great villains relish being the villain e.g. Hans Gruber from Die Hard.
I will always be team Christopher Reeves Superman but I love Henry stepping into this iconic role.He really brought it
If you're going to watch Bvs, make sure to go with the Ultimate Edition, as the plot is more fleshed out on that version. After that, one would be tempted to go with Justice League, but I believe Wonder-Woman should come before that. Hope you'll have a good time with the DCEU, despite its flaws and mistakes (mostly originated by WB's incompetence).

Michael Shannon played as one of Superman’s greatest villains General Zod was good I liked his performance very much.
I love both "Superman (1978)" and "Man of Steel." They are very different, but I feel this movie is more realistic. This movie is to closer to how people would probably react to someone like Superman, IMO.
The arial fights between Superman and Zod are amazing.
Don't forget: WB screwed over Henry Cavill way too many times since 2013.
@@MetaCinemaYT
No of course not, but we’re talking Superman and Batman here.
The part where you mentioned about the warm tone at the end of the movie. I hadn't noticed that even after so many viewings. Thank you for that :)
That drunk was lucky it was Clark and not Bruce.
its amazing how you've actually understood the movie and the idea Snyder had to make Clark discovering himself throughout the movie. At the end, he's not the superman we know from the comics yet. he's getting there. And although well never see it now, the vision here was beautiful.
Vicky, Superman can't read minds 😅
"You can save her, Kal. You can save them all." always gives me chills.
Their powers come from the yellow sun not the planet itself.
I’ve seen the movie a lot of times and I agree it’s not a great plan just because I think it’s kinda pointless.
Like even the bus scene Clark was even like “what am I supposed to let them die..”
Johnathan Kent is the reason why he is known as SUPERman.
33:00 It's not a ghost, it's living A.I., a very advanced one at that... Like million of light years advanced than ours.

- “The world’s too big mom!”
- “Then make it small” ❤🌍🧑🧑🧒
THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE!
I highly recommend and would like to see how u do with the smallville tv show. Definitely worth a watch. It does pretty well about showing his jouney to become superman. Plus tom wellings acting is pretty damn good in it.
Haha everyone on Smallville is fantastic. They really gave us some of the defining characters of the Superman lore.

@nio107 -- yes, that's exactly why i call it "snyder's spin" and point out how it diverges from comic canon
Letting Jonathan Kent die at his own insistence is what I hate the most about this film. His parents raised him to be moral, empathetic, generous, and selfless. Without that basic personality structure to build upon, you don't have Superman, you have some other guy.
You did not understand the stakes involved. Not in the bus incident or the tornado incident.

Superman can't read anyone's minds.

"Understood, have a good day." and speed walk out of there lol
27:11 No he can't lmao, you are getting so much wrong
As a kid in the 70's, I do have a special place in my heart for Christopher Reeves Superman but really, I think this was the best of all the Superman iterations and Cavill was perfect for the part.
i’m somewhat of a Steel myself🫣
Those huge machines ("world engines") kryptoformed planets rather than terraformed them, as Terra is Latin for Earth, so that process is specific to creating an Earth-like environment, which Krypton definitely was not (it had a different atmospheric composition, for starters).
my fav superman film , epic , dark , exciting , action packed and awesome soundtrack
I’m so glad you loved this❤️! I WANT TO SEE MORE!!!!☺️☺️☺️
My biggest issue with this movie is how they killed Johnathan Kent.
Which is funny since in Superman: Secret Origins (2009) a teenage Clark saves Lana from a tornado, inspired by the Smallville TV series.
It still taught him a lesson.
I honestly prefer when Jonathan lives, ala Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Superman: The Animated Series. Clark is much happier.
I am SO GLAD you're starting these movies. Sure you'll love the story and the world hes built.
What irritated me so much was the amount of gay people complaining that the song "Can you read my mind" wasn't in the movie.
@@boboboy8189 I'm sure the studio executives know a lot more about the target market than you so go back to school.
If you want to see a dark twist on this story; Brightburn is a terrifying take on this story.
Finally Holy fuck been waiting so long for this moment
The best Superman movie of all♥️🔥
There's gonna be some hate when you get to Batman v.
Oh and definitely watch the Ultimate edition of BVS because the theatrical version is a mess
The comment section is about to get rough lmao
Honestly? I think you need to watch both versions of JL....
@@phoenixdzk
They’re both a mess…the ultimate edition is a bit better but it doesn’t fix the issues the film has.
@@jonnydarkfang2816 Well, I've yet to watch that myself, so I wouldn't know which version is better.
Blah blah blah. Be a hater
@@PopsiCOLE Hater? He speaks the truth. Pa Clark's death should be a somber one, not an excuse for a pointless CGI tornado.
The Kents are the very best of us.
