Just listened to Black and White Boy this afternoon and realized that it’s about Paul Hester. After Erica asks him, Neil dedicates the song to Paul. Less than a year later he was gone. We’ll never know, but I do hope Neil and Nick did everything they could to help him. It would have been hard if he had shut them out.

Someone offered up that if you sent blank VHS taps to him, he would send them back to you with all the video. There was 10 hours in all! Well it actually IS about Paul. When 1st written, Neil said it was about micheal jackson..but paul was in the band and an up n down guy ("he would get so terribly depressed and be horrible but when out of it the best guy to have around in the world" ) touring this record in America made absolutely no sense at all to paul he thought it was over for them there and wanted more time at home with his wife and children . He admitted himself he'd acted a deliberate c£%t to the band to make them go against him so much they'd all come to the agreement its better for everyone if you go home... so that's how he left mid tour ..tears all round never wanting to end their final show with him in America. His life after the band though didn't help with his dark depressions and eventually got the better of him in 2005 ..so sad. If you are ever in Elwood, ( near St Kilda) Melbourne Vic 3184. Australia.....look for "paul hester walk" it's a little park ..he used to walk around there a lot as he lived at 20 Heaton Avenue from 1997 to the day he died..which is not far from the park itself . A lovely little place .❤ 💕

Interesting that Neil dedicates the song Black and White Boy to Paul, considering the song is supposed to be about him to begin with.
I thought it was about his dog, Lester.
