I had a black three-door 207 1.6 diesel - the GT spec - as a temporary runabout last year and I actually really liked it. Felt like a bigger car than it was, 1.6 diesel is the best engine, had every toy on it (and it still all worked on an 06 plate believe it or not) and sort of wish I hadn't got rid of it. When I did sell it though, it was a young lad who had already written off two cars who took it off my hands....
Also ran and sold a GT 1.6 once, like you say nice looking car and the engine was just ideal to make a warm hatch but decent on fuel too. thanks for watching Mjsee08
Two things to bare in mind when buying at auction, (unless they have changed) under a certain value, many set at £5K you buy as seen, if you drive it home and theirs no 3rd gear, no come back, and if car has reserve price, the auctioneer can run the car up to that without any actual bids in the hall, you need to check with each auction house before buying, the buy as seen below a certain amount is important.
That's the thing with the 4x4s today I sold mine as the tax and insurance was just not worth it for the amount of miles I was doing around 50 miles a month maximum

I had a Flame Red Astra as a company car in 1995 - the paint was fading from 12 months old. Two rear end shunts repaired and when it went off to auction 4 years later the back was Flame Red the middle was a soft red and the front end was dusky pink. We had Vauxhall to look at it under warranty and the conclusion was it was all normal and red is "a soft colour" whatever that means. You missed out on the Idea btw

The 57 1.4 Fiesta Ghia was probably worth another bid or two. Being a Ghia always adds a good selling point but I am sure Lee had his reasons for stopping at 725. And you can't really see these cars properly on camera either.

Great video once again Lee! Regarding the red paintwork.... Personally i would never buy a red car although the modern paints and lacquers used these days are much improved since the 80s and 90s they are still problematic. Its something to do with UV light from the sun and wavelength frequency of the colour. Red is apparently the shortest wavelength and blue is the longest so red will always fade much faster than any other colour. White or silver is the winner 😀
