    1. Wastegates releasing air pressure can make sound and it tends to be louder the greater the pressure difference. Whether that sound can be heard depends if the air is released into intake or to atmosphere. Latter is in general audible, first, less likely to be heard.
    2. Turbine neither compressor wheel will not spin backwards during the surge. They spin anywhere from 60k to 300kRPM, so they won't stop spinning at the very instant when throttle body is closed and you start hearing turbo surge sound

Thanks for this guys! I have a 2016 Audi S7 and just threw a new cold air and noticed the flutter on acceleration at lower RPM, I thought it was a dead turbo! First turbo car, I'm learning a lot. I thought to myself, "Wait if I am giving gas but low RPM, how does the turbo spin up fast enough to provide full power?" And well, you cleared that up! I was bothered that I could hear a nice woosh on WOT at higher RPM, but at lower rpm giving it in "manual mode" I heard flutter and was really concerned. Again, thanks guys! =)

"Wastegates don't make sound" ... Drag Racers :-D

What sound do wastegates make? Yes exhaust comes out of the wastegate, so they make the sound of the exhaust coming out, but this question was related to the chirping sound IMSA GTO cars make and in that case, what's heard had nothing to do with the wastegate.

Why isn't there an 034 tune for the b8.5?

B9 S4 here. installed a forge motorsports recirculating valve. I assume for our cars this is better than a BOV?

We recommend the factory diverter valve and we do not have a formal answer on your specific application.

Hi I’m curious today I replaced the old OE diverter valve 710N on my 1.8T because sometimes it’s honking I guess yeah it’s still running not so bad, with 034 diverter valve/bypass billet yeah $99.9 good price good look too, my problem is after installing this valve it seems that the idle is not stable, guess I need to re-learn, taking drive for 10-20 miles well it’s not bad I mean good response but again I stopped the idle unstable some went to 1k rpm and down to normal and up again , my TB, MAF, IAT has been cleaning up 3 days ago
My most urgent question is do I need to reset my ECU again since I just did 3 days ago, to day I installed 034 and just go …
PS : I reversed old 710N and it’s a bit good than standard Audi had, can I install reverse orientation the DV 034 too?
    Regards,

So are diverted valves worth getting if I have no tune?

Hi.can I do a diverter delete? Without any real issues

In some cases you can, like in older ECU applications, but it will add stress to the turbocharger as we discuss.
