Yeah, that’s probably true! How would you define the difference? From my understanding, some websites got hacked to gain the database of all ledger users and then I was scammed in a phishing email.
@pradeepan hacking doesn't need your involvement or deception. giving your keys up is how you lost your bitcoin. they deceived and scammed YOU. your video title is misleading.
Ledger and other companies will never call you or email you that something is wrong with your wallet. Always check out your Ledger live or hardware wallet software for updates.
@@pradeepan dang bro that sucks man, ya it's like them runescape days as a kid, never give your password (keys) to support they will never ask for it. It wasn't a data breach. @@pradeepan yeah I was a little lost on your description of the hack. I've been in the space for half a decade. Your description was only that you clicked on an inbox email and that is how the hack took place. There has to be more to it than that?
@ I'm not an expert on hacking or phishing. I just know I got an email that I thought was for a ledger update. I followed the process and my coins were gone in the end.
I was like “oh my god, this is horrible,” until you said “I gave my keys, I gave my password…” like, srsly? You could even send your money to nigerian princess who is in love with you and I would probably be more understanding.
@ True, but there is a big difference... Hack: When someone breaks into a system, account, or device without permission to steal information or cause damage. It involves using technical skills to exploit weaknesses. Scam: When someone tricks you into giving them your money, personal information, or something valuable. It usually involves lies, fake promises, or pretending to be someone else.
I'm very sorry this happened to you Pradeepan. Self custodying Bitcoin requires alot of research. The golden rule being never ever give anyone your seedphrase. Don't even record it anywhere digitally. Additionally have multiple wallets each with there own seedphrase and on different devices, just incase a particular device has malware.
I wish you the best man and sucks to hear this from anyone. Hope you still believe in the ideas that got you excited about self sovereignty in the first place. For anyone reading this your hardware wallet software will NEVER send you an update through email! Beware, this technology is still paradigm changing but a new level of awareness and responsibility exist in this new world. Heed his words.
I’m always looking for the things that actually matter and are actually worth my time and attention. I’m actually not living for my eulogy, I want to actually be living for the present! I want to be present now with my kids and family. Present now for my students, friends, and community. I guess it’s kind of the same thing, but I also think looking too far forward or backward can be a kind of trap, too. Love to you, brother! I love your videos.
That’s awesome. I think if you living present with your family, you are going to have a great eulogy! Your family is a huge inspiration for me in that! I wish we lived closer.
@ how long did it bother you or keep you down until you realized that you able to get that back even faster by securely investing and just staying frugal until you got the $40K back in blood lol
@ I feel that, I got scammed for $25K doing the same thing. I know the feeling. I knew better but it was a fake support site. Now I only invest in BTC or a few others that’s supported by Ledger. Never use third party wallets lol My cold card otw this week. Can’t wait to setup a multi sig fr
If I’m honest, I’m placing living for security above my eulogy. This was a timely video as crypto has (and is) taken my focus the past couple of months. It’s easy for a focus to start as part of your life - then take over you mind and life completely. Thank you!
@ you not alone, I lost $25K to a fake support crypto site. I did the same thing. Then I learned about passphrase, air gapped wallets, and multi sig with Sparrow
@neopitipit, How about you get off youtube in general. Even if I don't find a video useful it still helps someone. The guy is sharing his experience so it doesn't happen to others. Good job Pradee

Are you more so focused on getting the $40K back from working or outside of your job to catch back up?
This happened a while ago, so I worked a little extra to catch up. Thankfully what I invested wasn’t very much the first time, but it multiplied fast.
