I KNOW HOW THEY’VE BEEN TRACKING ME! 😨 This Is Sinister..

  • Day 329. 94km (71396kms 6 yrs)
In the early morning a female mosque worker asked if I was ok or needed anything, replying that no I was fine, she said someone was outside waiting for me, that they’d told her to come wake me. She assured me that she’d refused, that I was resting. Thank you sister! After prayer time I hoped to ask her to translate to this guy for me, but when the time came she was gone.
After a coffee as the sun came up, I did a couple of laps of the servo to ascertain which car it was that was watching me. In identifying him I began to chase him shouting to draw attention. Quite why I don’t know; as the day progressed I got even crazier. By dangerously swerving in front I got him to stop, still yelling I begged and pleaded for him to stop. Just as has previously happened ‘yes yes ok, sorry’. But down the road he was still following me. At a military check point I pointed my stalker out to the soldiers. This car left but I was later joined by another curb-crawling unmarked vehicle. How were they tracking me?! It occurred to me to check my phone’s location menu and to my horror discovered ‘this phone is being used for location sharing’ WTF?! I keep location stuff to a minimum to preserve battery and cannot be certain when this was turned on but I did hand my phone over for his wifi code to the man that instigated all this surveillance. I began to question my mental health; am I taking some medication (I’m not) that causes delusions or paranoia?! Or had someone really been using my own phone to track my location and send a stream of men to follow me across Saudi Arabia?!
Now that I was confident they could no longer track me I set my navigation to pedestrian in order to lose my stalkers on the way into Jeddah. Now being followed by a third car I wound my way through the outer suburbs but was only able to lose him by briefly riding the wrong way up a highway. They believe they’re keeping me safe but were instead causing me to behave erratically and dangerously as they WILL NOT respect my requests to not be tailed. Once over the highway junction I picked a pedestrian route into town but many blocks on the map are no more than fenced off heaps of rubble as the city is developed. Nevertheless I’d managed to lose them. Still checking over my shoulder I found my way to the British Military Mission house in a gated compound where I lay low amongst friends. Over the next few days I received repeated requests for my location from various WhatsApp numbers. On the one day I did go out to visit the old town my military friend assured me we were not followed. I think - I hope - I’ve properly lost them.

I think they’re just a replacement for highway patrol that used to escort you. But check if there’s any apps that track your location!

I don't see anyone following her, but it's just her imagination. Whenever she sees a car driving slowly, she says that they are following her, even though they are all different cars. It seems that the imagination and fatigue have affected her.

@yusefalharbi7652 😂🤣 ok. The series of cars driving *at the speed of a bicycle* behind me non-stop 8 hours a day for two straight weeks was in my imagination 🤦🏻‍♀️ All the cars that waited for me at gas stations, leaving as I left and doubling back when I doubled back, the driver who asked a female caretaker to come check I was inside a certain mosque overnight… The drivers I actually spoke with and begged to stop following me.. they were all in my imagination.
What’s interesting to me is why you won’t accept the patently obvious; that I was surveilled at great time and expense for two weeks across Saudi (most likely - but unconfirmed - by the ministry of the interior)
It’s a great shame because apart from this horrible experience I adored my time in the kingdom.

Oh jeez we are so frustrated by you being constantly followed! Can't imagine how difficult it's been for you. Hopefully the experience of Saudi won't be totally ruined by this crazy experience.

Honestly it was at the time. I couldn’t wait to leave, but now that I’m free, and meeting people properly I’m in LOVE with Saudi Arabia!

Ive Never seen dumb akward police like this, its so ridiculous !! They should have explained to you from the beginning they must escort you for protection. And give you the option of saying yes or no .. or rather just ban you from cycling on travel highways if they are so scared of ( their tourism reputation) 💔😭.

You can also call the British embassy and tell them you're being followed..

In fact I had been followed previously (and sometimes also during this stalking event) by uniformed traffic policemen. It was a bit restrictive and annoying but at least I knew what was going on.
When the surveillance first began I notified friends and family in and outside of Saudi and provided the registration numbers. But as days went by I could see they were probably not a danger, just super creepy and infuriating

Really. Are you married? How do you think your wife would feel about strange men in cars stalking her across a foreign land? I imagine she’d be quite scared, and I hope she would call the police.

I’ve been in regular contact with the traffic police who sent me uniformed escorts in police cars. But now, without the bizarre string of unmarked cars following me I no longer require a police escort 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I don't know if it's any confort; I read that it seems to be the custom. Now that the police is aware I would feel much better. Just wish you to find a way to focus your mind on pleasant things. Music. Hopefully it helps. That what I do. 🙃🙂

It seems that you suffer from paranoia, they are only trying to help you, but they do not know English because you are on a highway and you may be hit by a truck or a car from behind, and as you have seen, nothing harmful has been done to you. Saudi Arabia is the second safest country in the world after the Emirates

    • @helsonwheels
      @helsonwheels  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Sadiqi 😆 it seems you suffer from gaslighting. Some of them spoke English but in any case they need not speak English to understand through my shouting, begging, attempts to escape them, pointing them out and reporting them at military checkpoints, filing them, and hiding from them to understand that their presence was deeply unwelcome and frightening (at first) then once I understood they meant me no physical harm just very annoying and intrusive.
It is exactly *because* Saudi is so incredibly safe that I found this two weeks of government/police stalking so very annoying and unnecessary. During the time I was followed I was able to have far fewer meaningful interactions with the warm and generous Saudis I met every other day when I wasn’t being tailed.

Infuriating! I'm so sorry that their tracking and following you, robbing you of the chance to experience your travels that you have worked so hard for on your own terms. I don't think many people realize how that fundametally changes the experience. Why cannot they let you ride freely like all of the other countries you have cycled through? What uniquely Saudi peril do they feel they need to protect you from? They should feel ashamed. On a positive side, the brief shots of old Jeddah were amazing! And no problems with the sound in this video!

Thanks Greg, yeah it’s really been at first frightening then stressful and annoying, and finally had me questioning my mental health! But I can tell you since losing them my experience of Saudi has improved immeasurably!
