Those tank mounted carbs are super easy to repair. I just gave my neighbor a poulan pro with a briggs engine and carb set up like this one. Its pretty old but looks runs and cuts awesome. That was a nice thing you did for your fellow neighbor.
Old lawnmowers are better than new ones also the Briggs classic are easy to work on I found a old park central lawnmower in the trash with the classic it only needs a new recoil
I used Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w-30 High Mileage Full Synthetic on this one (free yard sale oil). If I was buying I typically grab 10w-30 high mileage to appease both Honda and Briggs specs
I’d be a stickler for sae30 on these flatheads as well but since Briggs relaxed their recommendations recently to include 5w & 10w-30 I typically will gravitate to 10w-30 since I have Honda machines as well (just to stock less oil)
I'm surprised you didn't bother with changing the crankshaft oil seal. You can clearly see it's leaking... When your engine only holds 5/8ths of a quart any oil leak is seious.
Good eye! I had to look at the video again and realized I totally missed that little oil stream when I went through this one. Must of had tunnel vision on the blade

So many memories about this motor, thank you 👏👏👏
That mower is crying "Wash Me!"
Those Classic / Sprint engines never quit, they’re even more reliable than the Quantum engines (if that’s possible!).
Hilarious....."trust, but verify!!!!"

Nice mower
a lot of time the primer bulb is perished. Sorry about the mower starting. That's a real disappointment.
What type oil did you use? Was that Mobil 1 full synthetic 30 weight?

The only oil I used is 30w sae pen

People really forget how to start them after a while
