This song also has lyrics that evoke a crisis of faith: _Why did he give me voice?/ And still choose not to hear me/ Just white noise_ _Your Light is going out on me..._ And especially: _It was _*_you_*_ who built this uncertainty!_
When you can't sleep at night because you're thinking about life and stuff. This song, heck the whole history repeating series is great. If I had a suggestion the protomen is something that's amazing too if you haven't listened to them
@@Mingodough Funny you should say that, I was having a crisis of faith and deep within my thoughts when I realized what the song meant. I've being meaning to try The Protomen, but thanks for the suggestion anywho, mate!
while most of the song is extremely critical of light, i feel like its also kinda using rush as a metaphor for the fact that through it all light still cares of rock, after all light is the one that built rush for rock. Light isn't the best father but he does care even if he has trouble showing it at times.
@Deceptibot9 that's true but it talks about how he DOESNT have a dog to fly on. Also the entire album is about protoman with the exception of the four robot master themes. The Megas included those because they wanted 4 of the eight robot masters in each of the mega man 3 albums
@@godzillafan54 no the entire song is about flying on a dog, not once does it talk about not having a dog, the entire song is about how rock feels like the only thing he can rely on or trust right now is rush. “Though you stand beside me I feel alone” who would proto be talking to here, that he actually feels some trust or care for. Also the lyrics very clearly state that he can fly on a dog and feel to me atleast like this is megaman talking.
I feel so far from home Though you stand beside me, I feel alone I've been built to make a choice Sent to war without one, let's destroy Your light is going out on me Humanity is not what it seems As reality plays my darkest dreams I can fly on a dog The end is too far for us to see I'll make it with you here next to me I jump high on a dog He says, son, to save the lives You must take the life of one, Wily dies. Leave it to these guys to write a song based on an upbeat chip-tune melody and have the lyrics be about Megaman slowly failing deep into an existential crisis. Don't get me wrong, I very much love this half of the album (I consider History Repeating Blue and Red to be one big album), it's easily the better of the two, I'm just praising the lyricist (whomever that might be, could someone direct to them? Thanks!) for using the Lyrical Dissonance trope to great effect here and the other nine tracks.
No idea how to explain this, but I've always felt like this song is supposed to be in Proto Man's perspective, but I've seen a lot of comments saying Mega Man is supposed to be the one singing, so I'm confused
I guess it was just details like me mishearing the chorus as "I CAN'T fly on a dog" like Blues was comparing himself to his brother, and misunderstanding "How dare he call me his son" as being related to the "Wily dies" line that came just before it.
All of this, out of the stage select song..... A song that we might even forget. It is to say the least, impressive.
It took me FOREVER to realize that this was the level select theme.
lmao me too, i fired up mm3 one day and realized there was something familiar about the level select screen..

Good point. It's definitely a song about confusion and hope as well as uncertainty.
The song isnt about rock not believing in his father. Its about Blues aka Protoman not believing in Light
@@godzillafan54 but Protoman isn't the one who has Rush so contextually that doesn't make sense

Nearly 35 years and still flying on that dog. Rock on, Mega Man! And keep rocking, Megas!

They're very talented.
@@bjnartowt WAY talented. Can't wait to see them again after like 12 fuckin' years finally! I will be at the show this October :)
I like the story told between Rock and Blues, it really paints a cool picture for the Mega-Man world that we never really see… except X…
Love the shout of "Underwater"
everytime I hear that all I think about is Bubbleman...
I was absolutely STOKED hearing this on the Magfest 2022 Livestream!!! My favorite song from The Megas!!!
Absolutely amazing!!!
fly on a dog ~ *bad ass guitar rift*
Just found these guys recently, and I seriously can't get over how amazing their work is 🔥

Fly on a Dog
I feel so far from home
Though you stand beside me
I feel alone
I've been built to make a choice
Sent to war without one
Let's destroy
Your Light is going out on me
Humanity is not what it seems
As reality plays my darkest dreams
I can fly on a dog
The end is too far for us to see
I'll make it with you here next to me
I jump high on a dog
He says son to save their lives
You must take the life of one
Wily dies
How dare he call me son ?
When I'm clearly a weapon
A loaded gun
Father hides the truth in fear
Maybe if he ignores it
Will disappear
Why did he give me voice ?
And still choose not to hear me
Just white noise
Your Light is going out on me
It was you who built this uncertainty
This is your answer
Another machine
I'm just another machine
Humanity is not what it seems
As reality plays my darkest dreams
I can fly on a dog
The end is too far for us to see
I'll make it with you here next to me
I can drive in a dog
(UNDERWATER !)
No shoulder to cry on a dog...
You, sir, are a hero.
oh my God, I have never heard "Underwater!" until now, I'm crying 🤣🤣
History might not repeat, but it does rhyme.
Soon! I'll buy your albums soon, okay? SOON! xD
Did you ever buy them?
How am I just finding this ??
Miles, is that you ?
God damn. This album is so catastrophically HOT.
I love how it starts, too. It's all perfect.

Protoman is singing about his internal conflict, while Megaman is having fun flying arrive
Woah, a new version.
