I love it when a game has an evolving soundtrack and it adds lyrics at crucial moments. First time I fused and the vocals of this started, I got chills. I still do, every time.
Games usually don’t have lyrics in their soundtracks, only games I currently know are cassette beasts, Before your eyes, and I think there’s another one but I don’t remember the name.
A lot of people are suggesting the song is from the perspective of the Archangels, which is a good interpretation that I agree with, but I'd like to suggest another: by the end of the game most players will have tangled with a lot of archangels and come out on top. That doesn't stop each new Archangel from trying to spook you with some silly shenanigans and a big speech about how they're too powerful for you, but after a while you've heard it all before. Sooner or later, this stops being their theme and becomes yours - for all their pomp and bluster, in the end it's the same old story for you.
I always assumed the song was for the player until people suggested the archangel theory. I think the reason it's assumed it's the archangel is because the song is called "same old story", and since the song is played since the very first encounter, kinda make sense it could be th e archangel, since encounters with them never ended well for the humans prior. But yeah, your theory makes sense too.
I agree with that theory it is pretty solid as each archangel is just negative towards humans but by the end we are just like ya ya tell it to some one who cares
Having played more of the game since then, I also think my interpretation plays very nicely with the concept that the player and their friends are at risk of reproducing Aleph's urge to conquer.
I like the theory that the first part is from the Archangel, the second from you/your partner, and the final chorus is both you and the Archangel together singing the same threats at each other.
I love nowhere monarch’s design it looks like something from that beetles and the yellow submarine music video and how it also looks extremely bouncy in its idle its just perfect

The reason the archangel fights are so touching (along with this absolute masterpiece of a song ofc) is that they’re the culmination of the game’s themes of sticking to eachother in the face of our incomprehensible reality

I discovered this game through a very good love-letter kinda video. As a guy who loves mechanics and discovering synergies, this video resonated with me a LOT. But not enough to imediately sell me the game... Until he mentioned the games music was THE SHIT... yeah, don't regret that purchase, that's for sure.
Just the the game the other day and really enjoyed the music but there was something incredibly special when the music I was already really digging dropped vocals into a pivotal moment like fusing your characters hearts into one. It's just a nice little touch I still haven't gotten tired of.

Great game, great soundtrack. Was stuck for a couple hours figuring out where the final boss was. I actually had to think cause there are so many possibilities.
Man, one of my favorite tracks in the game (though it was eventually beaten out by Shot in the Dark and the final boss theme). So glad I got the deluxe version to get the soundtrack, amazing stuff man!
it is a song that plays when you fight the most dangerous extra-dimensional beings in the games world (the lyrics kick in when you fuse with your partner)
i will admit that when i first heard vocals pop up ingame (not this track obviously) i considered switching them off just because it's not something i'm used to in video games and thought it might distract me. i am SO incredibly glad that i didn't. this is just unfairly good.
I love the free flowing grammer in this jawn, these lyrics are so much stronger emotionally for breaking those rules. It also feels appropriate because different realities, different logics, different speech patterns.
Cassette Beasts vs TOTK, who do you think would win? Cassette Beasts, actually. I'm still fairly early on in the story (I'm at the 3rd Archangel right now) but CB is absolutely a contender for my personal GOTY. Dare I say that this is a game that I'll be 100%-ing. The music, the aesthetic and the story so far has kept me more entertained than Tears of the Kingdom and I'm a huge Zelda nerd. I love the detail of the song gaining lyrics during the Archangel fights once you fuse. You genuinely don't see that very often. It's extremely anime and I am LIVING for it.

Honestly i love the music from this game the most. That's what keeps me playing. It flows so fluidly perfectly with the aesthetic and setting so well.
It's an actual tragedy that this only has 27k views.
We all know about the most seen Angelic Attack, but how about these?
*FEEDBACK!*
*JUDGEMENT!*
*BOMB VOYAGE!*
*FRUSTRUM CULL!*
*DEATH RAY!*
*HIGH AND MIGHTY!*
and as an added bonus the HONORARY Archangel, same theme, same AP system and everything.
Galactic...
Kunai!
(Figure it out yourselves, last one is related to Felix, won't say how though)
Forgetting someone?
TRUE ILLUMINATION!
Also: What did the Traffikrab put on his traffic toast?............Traffic jam!
Poppetox
Mourningstar
Nowhere Monarch
Heckahedron
Lamento Mori
Alice
Shining Kuneko (The fact she shouts her signature ultimate attack like an anime character is awesome hehe)
We also got Fairy Horde from Robin Goodfellow, Market Crash from Mammon, and Bad Joke from Babelith. Wait no. Sorry, Babelith’s Angelic attack is True Illumination!
“Stop!
I’m not listening any longer! You won’t crush my spirit! That’s all your kind knows how to do!
Some bigwig comes along, tries to take everything from the little guy… And when the little guy fights back, they’re told not to step out of line, right?! So they don’t do anything, and things just get WORSE!
It’s the SAME OLD STORY!”
Is that a persona 5 reference I see?
Joel, U deserve a Grammy 4 this song!
People in the comments realising art and music is subjective and means whatever you interpret it to: 🤯
頭痺れるぐらいにいいゲームでした!!続編出してくれ!!たのむ!
If this was the theme for the First Boss fight during fusion Imagine the Final boss theme
You’ll have to let me know what you think of it once you’ve finished the game!
You’ll have to let me know what you think of it once you’ve finished the game!
Can confirm final boss theme is indeed just as (if not more) awesome
@@joelbaylismusic9379 I just wrapped up the main story (actually planning on 100%ing the game!) and I gotta say that the OST freaking SLAPS.
Last boss was not great it was FREAKING AWSOME!!
Cassette Beasts took me here and I'm in love with your music.
This soundtrack absolutely did not need to go this hard. But I'm glad it did
Amazing sound track.
I bought it
Holy crap this is AMAZING
I just bought the game yesterday my head still bopping sound track’s fire.
Just the the game the other day and really enjoyed the music but there was something incredibly special when the music I was already really digging dropped vocals into a pivotal moment like fusing your characters hearts into one.
It's just a nice little touch I still haven't gotten tired of.
This song slaps. I would get excited when it played in the game.
hearing this in the demo was so exciting. i hope you upload the common battle song too
Love the soundtrack of this game, and this theme is my favourite so far! Love all the Archangels and the intimidating vibe they have with this song.
I discovered your game 3 weeks ago and I’m completely addicted please give us a sequel or more DLC this thing is curing my depression it’s just incredible. The music the world the gameplay it’s just so damn perfect
omg the part at 3:29 makes my heart dance everytime.
Great game, great soundtrack. Was stuck for a couple hours figuring out where the final boss was. I actually had to think cause there are so many possibilities.
Grazie Cassette Beasts di esistere, ora, però, non deludermi nel finale 🙏❤️
It's the sound track and characters that really put these games above it's inspirations. This game and soundtrack are truly perfect.
The enemy is always gangster until they suddenly see the two humans merge into one being and the lyrics kick in.
1:54 me when the asshole customer comes back asking for french bread.
The last time i heard a game soundtracks so much outside the actual game, was on Persona series, what a amazing job!
Keep it up guys!
Man, is so satisfatory get this extra boost in boss fights with the lyrics
this song is a legit banger
These sountracks are similar to the world ends with you and i love them
This track hits me in a way that only Rivers in the Desert ever did!
Love this song and the game, reminds me of old days playing twewy
I just finished this game. So good!
Man, one of my favorite tracks in the game (though it was eventually beaten out by Shot in the Dark and the final boss theme). So glad I got the deluxe version to get the soundtrack, amazing stuff man!
80s / early 90s cartoon vibes. Absolute banger!
Idk what this is or why it keeps showing up in my metal/rock hi-fi rush mixes but it’s hard as fuck.
it is a song that plays when you fight the most dangerous extra-dimensional beings in the games world (the lyrics kick in when you fuse with your partner)
Unreasonably hype
Amazing , this will be my ringtone next
i will admit that when i first heard vocals pop up ingame (not this track obviously) i considered switching them off just because it's not something i'm used to in video games and thought it might distract me. i am SO incredibly glad that i didn't. this is just unfairly good.
really love
A game on creativity and human connection between on e another is beautiful
True the friendship also strengthens you're partners and youres fusion Wich i adore
Dude, you're a musical genius. This soundtrack is fighting with the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games for my favorite video game soundtrack ever.
This slaps!!!!!
this game is so good, thanks for the upload !
Recently picked up this game! Killer tracks all around! Great job!
Love the Tweny themes!
God level
Awesome song! Congrats
I've been waiting so much for this one! Tks!
This sound track is so fire
Really good synthwave music.
Banger. Love it.
I love the free flowing grammer in this jawn, these lyrics are so much stronger emotionally for breaking those rules.
It also feels appropriate because different realities, different logics, different speech patterns.
The first time I experienced fusion and the vocals started kicking in, I felt like I suddenly went from playing a Pokémon-like to playing Persona 4. 😂
Sto tutto incassettato e lo so
Absolute banger
I really love the Music in the Game 😊
Not gonna lie, hearing this one song is what sold me on the game with all the DLC and the soundtrack. Thats how much of a banger this is to me.
It’s got such an SMT/Persona vibe, I love it!
Thank you for creating such an awesome OST!
Recien me entere que salio la demo y lo jugue y me gusto esta cancion no puedo esperar cuando salga completo
This song sounds like a song for 90's arcade fighting games 😃
