  • In this video we get anther flight on the original Goblin 700. For a helicopter that was designed in 2013 it still flys amazing! Really a testament to SAB and how they developed there helicopters. I can’t believe how good this flys and very glad to have it in my collection.

    Rc helis like Goblins don’t change much. My first SAB build is 10 years ago. Finished 4 kits recently. The revolution as yet to come…

      They have changed a lot since they were invented. The original 700 compared to the new RAW/Kraken 700 is completely different in every aspect.

    Ofcourse they do!
    Even 20 year old helicopters can fly good. It's all preference. 😁
    Love my modern helis but i also love my 24 year old nitro helicopter!
    Oh and my 600N that i bought because i kept watching your video's..

      The 600n is still probably the most popular nitro and best flying 600 on its time and to date. I’ve got three of them! They flight light and great power with a 55. You can never go wrong with the 600n!

      And now i have one. Flybarred too. With Futaba goodies. Brand new condition. After loooooots of cleaning.
      Hopefully flybarless conversion with some Nexpor servos in that puppy. It will fly amazing!
      It took me a bit to find the perfect one. But then a local hobbyshop posted one online.. and yep, had to grab it.
      Thank you Jeff!

    Im also scared to fly the original blades on my 700. No idea if I would be able to get replacements. Still the best looking heli in my opinion. Love the video, keep up the good work.

      When they released the Iconic addition, they painted the S line blades to match the original skiing and look original, but I can’t find where to buy those lol it might be like the freedom puma where you have to have that serial number. But I’m going to ask and see if we can order them. Thank you! I appreciate that.

    its interesting to hear some of the older pilots like Bert talk about the "feel" of flybar helicopters back in the day, to the point that Vbar has a flybar setting in their system to mimic it. now, I go way back, but I had a big break between flybars, and DFC/FL heads. I also was never good enough to thrash on a flybar helicopter like I can now. I also HATED HATED HATED setting up flybar heads and they flew different every time you set them up. Anyway, I would love to see you do a video on two aspects of older heli's. 1. a performance flybar heli Vs modern heli, and 2. a first gen DFC with its original setup (probably 3gx or beastx) V/S the same with all modern electrics. I have found it hard to mess with flybar helicopters because blades are really hard to find. A flybar's blades are weighted differently , but ive never tried a modern blade on a flybar. The early editions of smack talk discussed this "feel" of flybar helicopters.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Those are some great video ideas! So I personally don’t care for the feel of a fly bar and helicopter anymore. I like that more robotic feel that we have in today’s helicopters. I just think it feels better. Flybar is a PITA to setup and get right and like you said every time you rebuild the head it’s completely different. Fly bar blades are weighted, completely different as well but I do wonder how FBL blades would feel on a fly bar helicopter. I’ve still got an all original Align 700 E. I could test it on that!

    So when you say the head speed was going at 1500 RPM how do you calculate that?
    When flying my Fusion 360 my nx8 Telemetry says the motor is going 80,000 RPM, so with a stock 11 tooth pinion and I believe 135 tooth stock Main gear what would my head speed be?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is calculated in the FBL unit/governor. So you put your gear ratio in the motor pinion and the RPM. Reed out will be there. Spektrum takes some tweaking to get it perfect. You have to mess around with the telemetry menus and do some changes to make it an actual accurate RPM. You can also use a airplane tack with the blades off at the rotor head and get an rpm of what it is spinning.
