Hey James, I got your can fails figured out...I think. Doing extensive R & D on a platform to optimize performance with a can might lead certain segments of our society to believe a company is designing silent killers. Ergo...Lawsuits! What say you?
The jamming issue is a cartridge timing problem that FN themselves were never able to figure out, thats why FN put a lacquer coating on the case to try and remedy the timing issue. Looks like that problem carried over to the ruger products since they are essentially doing the same mechanisms as FN. Adding the suppressor is just making a problem worse. Looks like the timing problem could be fixed with the S&W m&P 57 with their rotating barrel design which delays the slide from opening up to soon when the pressures are still high and you most likely won't need that laquer coating anymore on the S&W design.
I've seen similar problems on under 5.7 guns with suppressors such as the rock 5.7 from palmetto it actually slightly changes the direction of where the pressure is going causing failures since no gas is going towards the ejection
I work for a company that manufactures baby bottles. One of my coworkers is a lactation consultant. It’s like having an accreditation to give a qualified opinion on breast feeding, not a full time job… but it can land you a job with a company that sells baby bottles. Hope that helps 🔫🔫🔫
Lactation consultants can be very helpful when one is learning to breastfeed for the first time. I don't know that this carbine is necessarily for them, however.
My armchair gunsmith guess: Increased back pressure from the suppressor increased bolt speed to the point that the bolt was trying to extract before chamber pressures fell to a point at which the casing could extract. The higher bolt speed also means that the bolt outran the magazine spring, not giving it enough time to present the next round. Why it only happened on the first round, that I do not know.
@Think Harder bingo! I think the same. I converted my Ruger 57 into a MP-57 long time ago, way before they made the LC. Basically the same guns but mine is way shorter. Where as mine was a deffo pistol conversion this one was a mystery. Now I see I think they did the barrel the same as how mine works and is basically just a longer barrel on the pistol. So yeah it's the weight I bet. It explains too why he had better luck with the booster still attached too. Seems like he's gonna need a lighter 22 can that's rated for 57. Kind of a bummer as I have a SW MP 57 in layaway and planned to get the LC after the SW and have all 3, but I planned to use my can on it which is likely way too heavy also. I kinda didn't wanna have to buy a 22 can. But I could just make do till they find a fix I guess or wait till they either find a fix or a can that plays well. We shall see!
Bingo, the 5.7 in blowback operation will stretch the case neck because the pressure is too high. That is partially why they need the coating. The DBX57 and S&W pistol both overcome this with gas operation. Too bad Diamondback does not make the mags compatible.
I bought one of these when they first came out. It's a great little rifle and now that there are more options for ammo, it doesn't hurt as much to take it to the range.
Considering the failures were on the first shot, I expect it is due to 'first round pop' in the suppressor. First shot is using more gas to fill the can volume, minimizing back pressure. Try shooting a few rounds, pausing to let the can clear out, shoot again and see if it fails to cycle again. Using a lower volume can like a 22 or 223K may mitigate the issue as well.
They sure are pushing 5.7x28. Ammo is still an issue. I like this Ruger alot. Love my PC Charger. I hope to see S&W release one of these as well. They seem to be a year or 2 behind Ruger. If only I could make sense of having a new, expensive, tough to find caliber with the purchase of a new carbine, AND pistol. I mean ya gotta have both amirite. Another W for Ruger it seems!
Yeah hopefully with all the manufacturers starting to make guns chambered in it more companies will start making ammo for it which will inevitably reduce the cost of said ammo.
Probably getting one of these for my daughter. She’s in college and I feel she needs something with a little more power behind it. She has some joint issues so the light recoil of this seems like a perfect fit.
I just bought one of these. I work at a FFL. We got in a FDE Davidson's special model I couldn't pass up. I own the Ruger 5.7 pistol, excited to get it to the range and try it out.
Gun looks cool and several reviews say that its a pretty good gun. I just cant seem to find a reason that justifies me purchasing a 5.7 carbine. Great content as always!
I think i remember reading about something like this happening with the early 16" PS90s. Basically 5.7 guns are all some sort of direct blow back or delayed blow back. The cartridges themselves are coated in a dry film lubricant to aid in extraction. This is because the 5.7 runs at extremely high pressures for a blow design, causing excessive friction which would be too difficult to overcome without the lubricant. If I remember correctly, one of the reason why 5.7 cartridges coming from FN were "nerfed" / loaded to lower velocities was because they were unreliable in the 16" PS90 due to the extra back pressure caused by the longer dwell time in the longer barrel. Clearly the extra back pressure from the suppressor is causing the case to seize up against the walls of the chamber and not extract. As for why it would only happen on the first round of each magazine though, it makes little sense. My best guess is that the lubricant from the cartridges are transferring to the chamber wall and later burning up. The first round ends up being a sacrificial round to lubricate the chamber.
Why is it happening on the first round. The same reason for first round pop with suppressors. Oxygen in the can. First rounds unburnt powder lighting up in the oxygen rich can on first shot. Also creating More back pressure on the casing. As you explained more difficult to extract. After first round powder gases fill the can with much less oxygen available to light up the unburned powder. It functions fine ...
I still maintain that the LC Carbine is the perfect backpacking gun and the 5.7 is perfect for small game like rabbits or foxes. Even coyotes in a pinch. It's large magazine makes it suitable for defense against pack animals as well. Pair it with a PA SLx prism and a 10mm sidearm of choice for bears or mountain lions and just go have a good time.
Can someone please help me understand the difference between both dissent MK4 caliber 5.7x28 & MK57 in the caliber 5.7x28? I see the price and how the mag are housed. So what’s the difference between those two? I’m also considering the LC carbine.
Buffman, I enjoy what you do. THANK YOU for posting this. I've wanted one of AR57's last variants for years now, and they're hardtofindium. I heard they were due to be produced again and had no idea that was under way. Thought the P50 was going to be my only hope. This is awesome.
I own one. No problems with it, very accurate right out of the box. It's easy to operate and break down. The only complaints I have is it only came with one magazine and the process to unfold the stock takes practice.
I was hoping they would make this after I purchased my Ruger 57 pistol. Magazine interchangeability is a huge plus. My only quibble is that I noticed it was pretty heavy for what it is. A lot heaver that it looks. So I have held off for a little. But if they make this a LC Charger with less than a 16" barrel, I will buy one so fast and SBR it as soon as I can.
"Too heavy for it's size/appearance" seems to be a common complaint with direct blowback. It's the solid chunk of metal you need to provide enough bot mass to make it operate safely.
I would love to see you review the diamondback DBX57. It is also a 5.7 x 28 platform for 14:20 , without a brace or stock, under $1000. It looks like a very compelling platform. I would be interested in your review of it
I would suggest the increased bolt velocity is ripping the extractor off the rim of the case. But it’s a direct blowback….hmm. Get some slow mo footage of it when the problem occurs, that’ll tell you everything.
One of the most fun plinking experiences I've had was with a LC Carbine that had a HoloSun laser attached to it. Super fun point and shoot with the low recoil of the 5.7 carbine platform
Very disappointed you didn't include my Diamondback DBX-57! I LOVE that firearm at only 3 lbs! It has an 8" barrel and a delayed blowback system with an adjustable gas block. It shoots and handles like a toy! I put a 3.5lb trigger on it with a 3X Prism Red Dot/Scope. It was easy to get on target at 50yds quickly and accurately! I have the 5.7 in 3 different firearms. I have the CMMG 8" Upper, Ruger 57, and Diamondback 5.7. I like the DBX hands down as the most fun to shoot! Absolutely EFFORTLESS!
I've got their PC Carbine in 9mm/glock magwell with some aftermarket furniture and seeing the LC makes me jealous. The overall length drops about 5 inches with the same barrel length because the action moves back. And the LC is quite a bit lighter than the chunky PC carbine. Would love to see it in 9mm at some point. 5.7 doesn't fit inside my 3 caliber limit (9mm / 5.56 / 12 gauge).
If you are a hand/re loader of 5.7, straight blowbacks are problematic. They inflate the necks of the cases and greatly reduce the number of times you can reload them. I have found a gas piston action much better at limiting case distortion. I have heard that the better delayed blowbacks are an improvement as well but have not tried the Banshee. In order to maximize case life, removing the lacquer and annealing the case neck and shoulders helps even more. IMO 5.7 is still a PITA but I am a masochist when it comes to cartridge and firearm selection.
I reload the 5.7 too. Don't remove the laquer if shooting in a direct blowback gun. The chamber is reverse tapered and works in conjunction with the laquer to ensure proper friction at standard 5.7 pressures. When you resize your brass you push back the blown out shoulder, and restore the regular taper. I don't even clean my brass, just lube, size, wipe down, and load. I only reload up to 5x max.
Your issue with the suppressor is likely due to carrier speed. The extra pressures generated by the suppressor will cause the extractor to fail to strip the round out of battery. I've seen this with other carbines when the extractor spring isn't strong enough. It's actually why the M4 uses an insert. Anyway, I'd love to get my hands on one to play with it and see what I can find!
The rock57 mags work in the ruger lc as well & with a +10 mag extension, thats 33+1. Not bad for a low recoil carbine. 5.7 is by far my favorite round because it will get the job done. It may not habe the kick that an AR15 does, but just like realestate, location location location & the ability to carry 2x's the ammo vs 223/556 just seals the deal. Lightweight, low recoil & more ammo, and you can have the choice of a ruger 57 or the rock 57 as a side arm. I myself would go with the rick 57 mags because they will work in all 3,ruger 57,rock 57 & the LC & the rock57 mags cost a helluva lot less than a ruger 57 mag. 10 mags with a + 10 extension will allow 330 rounds to be carried at 1 time & not be heavily weighted down.
My guess on the 1st round suppressed FTE is it’s increasing pressure enough that it tries to extract earlier in the cycle than normal, so the timing is off. The case is still expanded and holding tight in the chamber, but the round is not quite powerful enough to: 1. Extract normally with that added chamber friction PLUS full magazine friction, 2. Rip the rim off the case, leaving the rest stuck in the chamber, or 3. Yank the extractor claw past the rim, leaving a stuck case. Unless I missed #3 happen, it seems that the extractor claw is strong enough that it just holds on tight to the case rim while it attempts to extract. By the time the pressure subsides enough that the case shrinks away from the chamber walls, the system has lost too much energy to continue the cycle of operation. I’m not familiar with this platform, but polishing the chamber to reduce friction, adjustable gas system, and/or some type of delayed operating system seem the most likely to fully resolve the problem.
I think back pressure from the first round is higher because of the oxygen in the can. I agree that it probably contributes to timing issues. A similar causation can happen on an AR-15/10 if you do not have an adjustable gas block.
You should try the AR57 Gen 3.5 now In production. I got mine on sale through PSA, uses FN P90 50 shot mags. Very light weight. Comes in 16” and 12” 3:48
Increased chamber pressure causing the case to stick, since its blowback the bolt doesn't move if the case doesn't.happening more on the first round because you also have more pressure on the bottom of the bolt.
'We're going to Six-Nine the 5.7...' This is why we love your Content, TFB. I still think the LC Carbine is a hard sell at this price, but given the current state of... well, everything in this country, It is something the Firearms Market Needs. Keep up the Great Work!
I think the suppressor issue may be because the increased backpressure keeps the brass tight in the chamber after the extraction cycle should begin. I bet one of the suppressors designed to relieve back pressure would fix this.
Loincloth Consultant on your resume would probably get you extra points at your next interview...gosh you're almost there so might as well be one. Love the content!
Theory on the ejection issue with the suppressor: a full magazine will apply more pressure to the underside of the bolt, this additional pressure will cause increased friction and result in cycling issues. The fewer the amount of rounds in the mag the less pressure exerted on the underside of the bolt carrier group, thus less cycling issues. Can you try running the suppressor with the mags loaded with -1 or -2 rounds and see if the issue persists?
Is it possible the bolt is moving fast enough with a can on that's it's already starting to close by the time the brass is lifting off the extractor and before the mag spring can push up the next round?
I can tell you excactly what's happening with the supressor. Factory 5.7x28 chambers have a subtle reverse taper that provides resistance so that direct blowback can work well in a higher pressure round. That's also why the cases are laquered. This modulates the friction of the round against the chamber as the bolt is opening. That higher pressure from the supressor is pushing the cartridge wall against the chamber harder and that friction is overcoming the extractor strength some of the time. I bet if you lube your chamber better it will go away.
I know about the reverse taper chamber because I reload 5.7 and have measured spent brass. If you do the same you will realize that you end up with a reverse taper on your brass, and that the shoulder bumps out because of the high pressure still present when the bolt is opening. Direct blowback is not the best design for that high pressure of a cartridge, and that's why FN designed it with the taper and the laquer so it will work well in a pistol.
LOVE shooting my PS90, especially when I'm wearing my foil headgear and decoding ring. Andmy RUGER 57 pistol is a "companion". The RUGER LC carbine NEEDS A 30 ROUND MAGAZINE! (Which I'm sure aftermarket firms are already tooling up to make.)
I have a Diamond Back DBX 5.7 no issues so far waiting to see how many other companies come out with a pistol 5.7 to go with my DBX i like the new Smith & Wesson 5.7 with their barrel design it's a strong maybe purchase
There is a fair amount of bolt bounce @ 1:00, play at 25% speed. I would look at the recoil spring and bolt weight to start for the first shot failures suppressed. Perhaps it needs interchangeable weights in the bolt for tuning for a given suppressor.
@@JackFright that's the big issue is alot of the 5.7 market is pricelocked for the common man. Too expensive to justify buying a P50 or the LC, but all the other options are more than most wanna spend.
If I was building just the one, the Panzer Arms would be okay. Expensive, but okay. I don't mind a project that will take a little time for me to save the funds for it. But if I am looking at 4-5 (pistol, shotgun, rifle etc) for starting off then the Panzer Arms upper just is more than I want to spend at $700. I may still go that direction. I am just holding on to see what shakes out from all the lawsuits right now. And it doesn't hurt that new 5.7s are showing up which is helping to increase ammunition production and drive down the prices. I can afford to be patient on this.
@@Fadaar Sure but the Panzer upper is $700 and the CMMG is more. So not saving too much. But, you can buy in stages. That might just make it easier overall.
the FTE may be the ammo --sort of. at least maybe when you're using FN ammo, or possibly with any ammo. it's harder to find such mentions now but if you read alot about the p90 you'll occasionally run across references that describe it as delayed blowback instead of straight blowback. outwardly the gun is straight blowback, there is no mechanism in the gun to lock the breach. but the ammo and the gun were developed together, not separately. the locking mechanism is a coating on the brass, a real space age material. at high pressure is a liquid adhesive, and at low pressure it's a solid lubricant. when the powder charge ignites that coating seals the brass to the walls of the breach, then when the bullet exits the barrel and the pressure drops off and that coating flashes to become the lubricant allowing the residual pressure and recoil of the exhaust gasses to cycle the action. this is also an additional reason for why the case is straight walled instead of tapered, and even without the coating that may aid in the case locking the breach. and it's another reason that FN warned against reloading spent brass because the coating would've deteriorated after one use and reloaders outside of the FN factory wouldn't be reapplying it. if you're getting caselock as the ammo was designed to do, with the added volume of the longer barrel and the suppressor the residual pressure after the drop off when the bullet leaves the gun may not be enough to cycle the action.
When you said the suppressor was causing extraction issues I immediately thought of ballistics tables. On .22lr and 9mm the bullets are actually slowing down in the last inch or so of barrel. In the last bit of barrel, the expanding gases are not overcoming the friction of the barrel. Make the barrel too long and you can induce a vaccum within the barrel and reduce the net force on the bolt driving the blowback action. The 5.7x28 was optimized for a 10.5" barrel and uses an extremely fast burning powder. If the round is slowing down from peak speed in a 16" barrel the suppressor, rather than causing back pressure, could be assisting the bullet in sucking away some of the energy in the bolt. Why does it work after the first round? Is the gun and suppressor warmed up? Did you try a flow-through suppressor, by any chance?
This is the best Survival Hiking Rifle ive seen. This is so much better than a .22lr its nuts and i have a ruger 10/22 too. but the accuracy of a 5.7 and take down power you could really use it for bigger game if needed and defense from some animals on the trail.
I want one of these, but chambered in 357Sig. If an Underwood 68grain xtreme defender can do 2100fps out of a 4inch barrel, I can only imagine what it does out of a 16.
You'd get very little increase in velocity after 10". The case volume is just too small to benefit from longer barrels. The LH 68gr also has a G1 BC of only .087 so it sheds velocity quick. Have you chrono'd the 2100fps .357 Sig yourself? Seems a bit high and I can't find a powder that will do it with QuickLoad. Quickload guestimates top out in the high 1900's with compressed loads and borderline pressures. Maybe I didn't find the right powder. The LeHigh site loading data shows a best case of 1885fps with a 4.5". I push the 50gr Xtreme Cavitators to only 2100 fps with the 327 Fed from a 4.2" SP101 as I start getting over pressure signs after that.
The problem with the can is too much back pressure. It doesn't have a chance to clear out the pressure before the bolt comes home. And it acts like an air cushion. A weak spring that can't overcome the pressure could be the problem and the first shot pop could also be adding pressure. IDK but that is making sense to me. I have a .22 that will not extract the case without a can. When it does extract it, they bulge out at the bottom from the pressure. It has nothing to do with your issue or what I said above. But I have been dying to tell someone.
Just a theory and it's out there ! Maybe on the first shot the back pressure is at a mass where the bolt is thrown back too fast for the extractor to catch the first shell to eject it ??? Or try tapping the bolt forward before you take the first shot suppressed the extractor might nit have caught the shell lip because the manual charge throw may not have the same forward pressure as the blow back throw ?? Just theories,
I've seen about 50 deer killed with 22's. (I am very aware that you are not supposed to deer hunt with rimfire) I had the misfortune to see a man that weighed well over 300 lb killed by a 22 also. He didnt move around or stand there for a while the way a lot of people do when hit by a 9mm. (I kmow if you hit someone just right, blah blah) But this man hit in chest with a 22 dropped immediately as though hia legs were chopped off in .00000001 seconds. Im talking just crumpled into a pile where he stood. I've seen a lot of deer do the same thing. Now this 5.7 is much much much much much heavier and faster and carries a lot more kinetic shocks than a 22. This 5.7, like any other powder actuated weapon, will kill any animal there is with the exception of a blue whale if hit right. The little 22 kills more people every year than all other calibers combined. The 5.7 husband called by ballistic experts a high-speed rifle version of a 9 mm. That of course is why it defeats body armor. It is a perfect backpack or truck rifle.
S&W is probably coming out with a 5.7 version of their new FPC. They should at least. If it takes the same mags as my S&W 5.7 pistol I'll be getting one.
James, you're the craziest and funniest guy in the gun world!!! Don't be hatin' on the Lactation Consultants though. I actually met one at my best friend's wedding, but she was kinda' goofy. Always enjoy the vids!
how about the complete upper for your ar made by panzer arms. takes the same 50 round mags as the p90, ejectes the spent brass through the empty mag well on the lower and comes in between 700-800 bucks.
Hey @TFB TV It looks like the weight of the silencer is the problem. (not an expert) Watch the video from 13:53 to 14:05 to see how much recoil is needed to make it work properly. You can see both the silencer and the barrel moving backwards during recoil. Would it work better with a lighter silencer? It would have been cool to see in slow motion how the weight of the silencer affects the weapon's function, with a silencer and without a silencer.
I love mine. I got last month as a Valentine's present to myself from my wife which she doesn't know she gave it to me!!!🤣🤣🤣 It is smooth and easy shooting for sure. I'm trying to decide on a red dot for it. Great vid Mr Short shorts guy!!!!👍👍👍
I knew this video was coming. I just got mine last week. Cool gun. The stock is meh, but you can replace with awesome ones. The sights are good. I already have ruger 57 mags. It's balanced and decently light. Swapping the charge handle (I am left handed) is cumbersome and could have been designed better.
I have had one for about a year and fired about 2k rounds from it. I cheek shoot it a la Rhett Nuemayer. I like it but the charging handles are delicate aluminum ones and break often enough that I keep extras on hand. Right now the only way to get spare parts is to send it back to DB, call DB and ask for specific ones and they may sell you some, or buy a second one to cannibalize. Of course being able to use AR triggers is nice. The barrel threading doesn't have much shoulder to mate a suppressor to so it is best to have and alignment rod when using one. Oh, and mine is very sensitive to bad mags - some that are reliable in my FN Five Seven are not reliable in my DBX.
TBH if I was trying to stay under $1k I'd go with the CMMG Banshee. I bought the 5" 5.7 upper a while ago (Dec 2020 I believe) for $800 so with a properly budgeted lower build you could easily keep the whole thing under $1000. Edit: Well guess that might work if prices hadn't gone up so much. Their 5.7 uppers start at $950 now. Oh well. Still would recommend going that route rather than the pistol mag offerings being brought to market. Can't beat a custom built lower.
There's a company that makes a 16" barrel and chassis to put a PSA rock into... Idk if it's good, but it exists for the poor huddled(and heavily armed) masses
Within 200-300 meters distance the Ruger LC (with a AP rounds) could be play similar role like a Russian small tactical sniper carbine as Vintorez and AS VAL for the Russian special force. Anyway, I'm gonna buy it and upgdare it as a tactical sniper carbine with a larger capacity of magazine. But the problem with a suppressor give a anxiety. 😏
@TFB TV I did see the comment about Lactation consulting being relevant to getting a baby bottle making job, but I'd feel fairly confident in assuming that most people with that as a job title probably work in the dairy industry. If a large dairy company like Oberweis DIDN'T have at least a small handful of lactation consultants on hand whose entire purpose would be to work with engineers to design newer and better cow milking machines or to ensure cows are getting the right vitamins etc to achieve maximum breast health and milk production, I'd actually be surprised. Udderly surprised (; It actually makes more economic sense to me for them to exist than, say, monkey pimps- I mean animal breeders, yet even that manages to be a job at zoos.

Why it only happened on the first round, that I do not know.
spring tention is allways hardest on a full magazine, that would be my guess as well

Bingo, the 5.7 in blowback operation will stretch the case neck because the pressure is too high. That is partially why they need the coating.
The DBX57 and S&W pistol both overcome this with gas operation. Too bad Diamondback does not make the mags compatible.
My Silencerco Sparrow is rated for 5.7 and works great on my Ruger LC.
I work at the factory where these are made, glad you like it man!
Do you know what an issue is with a suppressor?
I bought one of these when they first came out. It's a great little rifle and now that there are more options for ammo, it doesn't hurt as much to take it to the range.
Is it reliable?

How do you SBR this?
Probably getting one of these for my daughter. She’s in college and I feel she needs something with a little more power behind it. She has some joint issues so the light recoil of this seems like a perfect fit.
I just bought one of these. I work at a FFL. We got in a FDE Davidson's special model I couldn't pass up. I own the Ruger 5.7 pistol, excited to get it to the range and try it out.
Had mine for months, Love it, its my preferred firearm for range work. Was thinking about a can, glad you provided that info.
Gun looks cool and several reviews say that its a pretty good gun. I just cant seem to find a reason that justifies me purchasing a 5.7 carbine. Great content as always!
I got a reason for ya.... MURICA!
Save the money for an AK
Weight is about it, but the few SBR 's I've seen are pretty compelling.
Right, if you already got a couple AR pistols with 11-14 inch barrels, little need for this.
@@jamesw7072 very true
Always happy to help, James
Sounds like a shorter barrel say a 10.5 would help with the can back pressure problem.
The perfect backpacking gun is a 10mm handgun with a manual safety
Can someone please help me understand the difference between both dissent MK4 caliber 5.7x28 & MK57 in the caliber 5.7x28? I see the price and how the mag are housed. So what’s the difference between those two? I’m also considering the LC carbine.

At some point, the stock wears enough that it unfolds nicely, as if with nothing more holding it than a strong detent

Alaskan here, on a non-tactical standpoint, a lot of the villages love this rifle for anything from ptarmigan up to coyotes, wolverines, and hare.
*cries in MI*
Same as this guy minus the cuck stamp.
"Too heavy for it's size/appearance" - that's what she said.
I don't understand weight complaints with guns. They're relatively heavy compared to eachother, but none of what we use is actually heavy.

I have grown to really appreciate your no bullshit reviews.

Say what you mean, mean what you say 👍
I've got their PC Carbine in 9mm/glock magwell with some aftermarket furniture and seeing the LC makes me jealous. The overall length drops about 5 inches with the same barrel length because the action moves back. And the LC is quite a bit lighter than the chunky PC carbine.
Would love to see it in 9mm at some point. 5.7 doesn't fit inside my 3 caliber limit (9mm / 5.56 / 12 gauge).
Informative as usual and hilarious at times. Love the content.
The keltec p50 should be california compliant since it has to be opened to remove mag

@@Valorius better than no 5.7 😅
The rock57 mags work in the ruger lc as well & with a +10 mag extension, thats 33+1.
Comes in 16” and 12” 3:48
I reload specifically for my 5.7 Ruger LC carbine. Big difference in velocity vs the factory loads. Love mine.
Increased chamber pressure causing the case to stick, since its blowback the bolt doesn't move if the case doesn't.happening more on the first round because you also have more pressure on the bottom of the bolt.

I still think the LC Carbine is a hard sell at this price, but given the current state of... well, everything in this country, It is something the Firearms Market Needs.
Keep up the Great Work!
Then he says it will swing both ways.
I think the suppressor issue may be because the increased backpressure keeps the brass tight in the chamber after the extraction cycle should begin. I bet one of the suppressors designed to relieve back pressure would fix this.
This, plus the chamber is supposed to be reverse tapered in 5.7x28.
I put a Omega 36 M in the full size configuration on my Ruger LC and have had no problems to date using various types of 5.7 ammo.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the super-thin, dual-piston-operated Diamondback DBX
$1300 plus? Sheeeeit, I'd rather have the CMMG
@@tfbtv It’s just a hair over $900 sir, where do you shop, ffs. The mall??? ;)
@@tfbtv It's 60% heavier and has a 3" shorter barrel. With the 5.7 the velocity difference between 5 and 8" is significant. Still, I understand.
I'll probably never have one of these, but they look great. Thanks for the video. I can watch and dream.

There is a fair amount of bolt bounce @ 1:00, play at 25% speed. I would look at the recoil spring and bolt weight to start for the first shot failures suppressed. Perhaps it needs interchangeable weights in the bolt for tuning for a given suppressor.
I wish more PCCs and Rifle configurations for 5.7 were available
It's happening. Not as fast as we may want but it is. Just wish the Panzer Arms upper wasn't so expensive.
Panzer or CMMG upper is the way to go IMO. Save a few hundred bucks building your own lower.
It’s the weight of the suppressor not allowing the inner barrel to unlock the action 😮
Funny thing, I was at the gun store looking at one and I pushed down the mag release lever and it broke…
welp
Very interesting and very thorough. Thanks
Y’all really had me worried about suppressing the thing, but a YHM Turbo K worked just fine with it.
Would love to see a braced shorter barrel one of these, gimme my NOTmp7 pls.
Just theories,
Several gun-tubers have had the same issue with that first round fail with silencers.
Your supressor is either ammo sensitive or Fs with the gas pressures that interfered with the blowback action.
Great stuff as usual playa! I want one of these but are they legal in NY?!
Ruger's really been standing the fuck up lately
Give it to me in 9mm.

Also, I’m very reluctant to get on this 5.7 train.

Hey @TFB TV
It looks like the weight of the silencer is the problem. (not an expert)
Watch the video from 13:53 to 14:05 to see how much recoil is needed to make it work properly.
You can see both the silencer and the barrel moving backwards during recoil.
Would it work better with a lighter silencer?
It would have been cool to see in slow motion how the weight of the silencer affects the weapon's function, with a silencer and without a silencer.
I look forward to your future LC.

Neat, I thought the trigger had a lot of up take.
I'm a lefty. How's the blowback in your face/eyes/nose?
Tried it with the 5.56 suppressor yet? From the 'sounds' of it the 5.7 is very loud, so a suppressor seems essential.

Kel-tec Is located in cocoa not cocoa beach But they are located very close to each other
I'll take the DBX - I was looking at this one but the DBX got my attention.
Perhaps the pressure is remaining high enough that the brass is holding the bolt closed???
military arms channel had a similar issue with out the silencer
I wonder if there's positive pressure from trapped gases preventing the slide from Properly extracting and returning to battery
