That Zuko figure is one of the best figures McFarlane has produced. The detailing and proportions are all perfect, and the headsculpt looks better than a lot of import figures. They can make such good figures when they really try. It's a shame most of their figures aren't that good.
Tophs absence in the Mattel line can be SOMEWHAT forgiven since that line was pretty much exclusive to when Book 1 was still premiering. I remember Book 2 coming out and being royally confused why the Mattel line wasn't continuing.
Another great piece of avatar merchandise was the two LEGO sets they made, its a shame though seems with the avatar boom in 2020 both of the sets prematurely boosted in price now they’re pretty much impossible to get unless you get lucky or are desperate.
@@n_ex13 well before the boom you could find them on eBay without box and instructions for like 100$-150$ complete with figures but now out of box complete is like 400$ which is what boxed sets used to be
I collect Lego and have done for years and the avatar sets were always quite pricey even before the so called avatar boom. But compared to some of the prices of the other retired Lego sets they’re not that much. Supposedly they only made two of them along side two SpongeBob sets to see which line was going to sell better and SpongeBob won out so it got more sets and avatar didn’t. Today if you want these sets obviously you going to be paying a premium for them in the UK both the air temple goes for about 300 pounds used and 400 new and the fire nation ship goes for about 450 used and 500 brand new. Which is a lot but like I said I’ve seen other sets go for way more.
The Mattel line had a fire series that only released in a few country’s. Then the potential next wave would have at least had a Katara. Shame they messed it up so much.
Thank you for this. I've gotten almost all of the McFarlane figures except Toph. She's about $50 everywhere I look, but Loyal Subjects is $18. I wasn't sure if she would scale with the others but now I'm confident in getting that one. Thanks again.
I have the most hope for Mcfarlane considering they announced both atla/korra. I’ve wanted a korra/good book 3 Zuko figure for so long. But considering it’s been over 2 years since he announced I’m getting frustrated
Couldn’t agree more about the Diamond Select figures. I bought the first wave and then i canceled my preorders for wave 2 because I thought they were pretty awful. Ive seen the McFarlane 5 inch at 5 below and I think you’ve convinced me to go hunt them down 😁
It’s hilarious because McFarlane’s female figures sell out within minutes, this conversation was in relation to his dc line but the point still stands, can’t find Wonder Woman anywhere but all his Batman variants are still peg warming
Mcfarlane 5" is proving to be great. Great variety of characters so far and the price point makes up for the limited articulation for me. Also probably the best screen-to-plastic transitions
I had a dillema between collecting the BST AXN or McFarlane 5" line and in the end I chose the McFarlane line since it was more affordable so I could collect all of the characters. Also a thing I should mention is that where I'm from the BST AXN are about 25€ and the mcfarlane are 18€ per piece but I got them on sale for 10€.
I really appreciated this, it didn't help me too much on my decision but that's entirely due to the companies rhemselves and lack of cohesion, NOT you. This was very helpful in visuals and confirmed my plans of mixing a little from all of them
Great video! Are any of these companies still making Avatar figures? It seems like they’ve all stopped releasing new figures but I haven’t seen any news regarding who still has the toy license. You’d think someone would have figures on the shelf to tie into the popularity of the Netflix show.
The biggest gripe I have with McFarlane's line is that the quality control isn't the greatest always. I have a figure I just got out of the packaging (Aang with glider) and Aang's hand just popped right out, with no way to put it back in. I'll have to use gorilla glue to get it to work. My other 3 are just fine, but I've heard of complaints from other lines that the quality can get bad. Basically the lesson here is to be wary with McFarlane!
It really sucks that all of these lines have basically ended. Hopefully the movie next year brings more figures back. Especially the 7in Mcfarlane line. We need every character in that line.
8:40 the scale is very similar between the two so even though it's not accurate for diamond select with their version being too small, he can be fudged in with mcfarlane
The bst axn versions scale decently for five inch collectors like Dragon Ball and the Bandai ultimate Legends lines so I can have Naruto and avatar figures in scale with each other
So the thing about the mattel line, is that the clothes? It's polly pocket rubber. Mattel used it because they already had the material. Try looking into polly pocket collectors for their rubber treatment guides
i think i wouldve liked the smaller mcfarlane line if it looked more show accurate. they seem kinda overdetailed in a way, a different style. shapes and textures, etc. plus, even with that personal preference for accuracy aside, missing paint is a turn off for me. aang is missing orange on his wrists and zuko straight up has no red on his chest armor and shoulderpads which to me stands out like a sore thumb :( even that 7 inch zuku is missing paint on the gauntlets as well as the ankle straps on the boots. even the og mattel line at least seems to have mostly gotten the colors on there.
McFarlane Toys, it's the company that makes some of these. It's owned and operated by comic book artist Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, Venom, etc.

These things were like 600$ and 400$ respectively before that boom how expensive are they now!!?

S.H figuarts or figma should make avatar figures.

For his Arkham City wave, EVERY figure is still readily available... except Catwoman.
I'm sad it's been a year and there's no update for 7" McFarlane Katara, Toph and Azula.. 😢
Mcfarlane 5" is proving to be great. Great variety of characters so far and the price point makes up for the limited articulation for me. Also probably the best screen-to-plastic transitions

good vid! just bought my little sister some mcfarlane 5 inch
Eagerly waiting to see Mai.

Thanks for this, I was debating whether to go with mcfarlane or loyal subjects, but youve really sold me on the 7 inch ones
I do hope they make a 7 in Toph and uncle Iroh. That would be great. And when they do Korra we get Bumi, Tenzin, Zaheer and Kuvira.
Great review! I have the BST Spirit Aang and Katara figures, really happy with them.
It really sucks that all of these lines have basically ended. Hopefully the movie next year brings more figures back. Especially the 7in Mcfarlane line. We need every character in that line.
Absolutely Awesome review love that there are so many figures too choose from i like long hair Zuko the best also Aang 😄
The McFarland Aang hasn’t mastered knee bending yet 😭😂
8:40 the scale is very similar between the two so even though it's not accurate for diamond select with their version being too small, he can be fudged in with mcfarlane
thank you man! Helped so much
Can you cross swap heads? Or are the sizes too different? For example, can I put the loyal subjects Zuko head on the McFarlane Zuko body?
The bst axn versions scale decently for five inch collectors like Dragon Ball and the Bandai ultimate Legends lines so I can have Naruto and avatar figures in scale with each other
Just start that show so cool figure

Yeah, i liked the mattel version of aang. But the polly rubber will get degrades. Can we maintain that rubber from degrades?
Zuko is my favorite character in avatar the last Airbender
I had problem with the Mattel particularly with rubber clothing they tend to detrioriate over time.
I just bought them all.
Will there be a ty lee and mai figure from mcfarlane toys?
I actually managed to score an MSIA Soaring Raven Gundam for $40
Now to find the Grand Gundam and the Walter Gundam
GIVE US THE FEMALE CHARACTERS MCFARLANEEEEEE!!!!

what’s a Mcfarland?
