    My Grandmother died in Newbridge in 1918, aged just 28. She was born Mary Barnes in about 1890. I'd like to find out more about her if anyone can help. Thanks for the excellent video. It gives me a flavour of where she lived.

    Remember my father telling me that the police officer standing outside, what is now, the Bank of Ireland in the last photo, was carring a pistol behind his back. That's what the kid is looking at so intently.

    Robert J Goffs started the first horse sales in Newbridge 1866 he would have sold horses to the British army in Newbridge County Kildare Robert died in 1907 buried in Old great Connell graveyard Newbridge County Kildare he is the founder of Goffs horse sales in Ireland
