These images were taken from my balcony approximately 9.5 miles away from English Bay, since there was no way I was about to brave the crowds. Jostling for access on city transit trains is hard enough during regular traffic and our system leaves a lot to be desired when considering accessibility. I feel it's best to avoid the drunks, pickpockets, gang fights, and generally poorly behaved idiots who tend to come out at night in this fair city (think hockey riot). Last year there were only about six stabbings and only one shooting incident, so maybe I'm just being paranoid (NOT!).
I wasn't sure where to focus since the firing barge mooring gets moved from year to year, so I just had a broad view of the general area in the beginning. After the first volley I was able to zoom and focus where I could get the best images. I kept an eye on the area with my binoculars and as the show progressed I held down the remote trigger and just let my camera snap away whenever there was any significant activity to capture as many images as possible. I managed to capture over 200 usable frames. Figuring out which ones to process proved too boring for me, so I just batch processed the RAW files and created a slideshow using Lightroom - exported as mp4. I loaded that into a video editing program (CyberLink PowerDirector11) and foreshortened the footage from over 3:40 to 00:42.08, while adding a little bit of background filler.
I think I managed to figure out which are the best frames to process from scanning the video. Does anyone have any other suggestions or comments regarding which frames I should process?

There was a Big BOOM @ 00:00:09:20 with shockwave.
Was it just a shock wave, or ground shift @ 00:0:08.00 & again larger @ 00:00:10:05?
I think it was ground shift since the shock wave was felt a few seconds before the major shaking. It happens a lot around here. It's usually just upper layer movements of shifting soils - Lulu Island (Richmond) is a sand bar delta at the mouth of the Fraser River. Usually the deeper tectonic movements have a different feel to them. I didn't even notice the one at 00:00:08:00, they happen so frequently around here.

I have a few good shots of the post event police activities which I will work on later tonight. They turned out pretty interesting, in my opinion they are more interesting than the fireworks themselves. I also managed to capture a few good frames of the aerial drones that were deployed, since they had to keep their marker lights on due to being within the airspace of Vancouver International Airport.
