To make indexing motion (work/pause/work/pause...) with a continuously working motor. :) In the video - the switch will activate on every 6th rotation of the motor. The geneva gear is used for indexing tables. The bad thing is that the gear is working "on impact".

Did you make the drive yourself? Been trying to find a six or eight position geneva drive, but don't have the capability to make one myself.

What's the fun in that when you can use a geneva gear?

It is also used in rotary transefer machines in cnc.
