- I felt it important to share this video with the world to remind us of the sacrafices made everyday by our armed forces. I took this video as we made our way past hundreds of supporters that came out to pay their respect to a fallen Marine - LCpl Brandon Lara.
Lance Corporal Brandon Lara lost his life in the line of duty while serving his country in Iraq. Lara was flown into the Randolph Air Force Base where he was escorted off base, through Universal City, Schertz and to New Braunfels. This is only seven minutes of a one hour video.
I drove past part of this on the way to church on a morning when I was feeling particularly impatient about my husband coming home who has been in iraq for a year now. My wait is now in proper perspective. We get "it' here in texas and show it when people turn out to line a 30+ mile stretch of road through 3 cities and counties on a Sunday morning to honor one fallen marine. i am so proud of my country and even more proud to live in a community that honors our heroes this way.
This video helped restore my pride as a Texan. As a video producer I've seen many of these types of videos from all over our great country, but none from Texas. Thank you for sharing this with us.
All gave some
Brandon Lara
gave all he had
to God, country and family.
RIP
The beautiful thing about this and all these type videos is that probably 99.9% of these people don't even know the man or his family. Wonderful respect! Thanks for posting!
probaly the 5th time that i have watched this video and it stil gave me goose bumps and tears in my eyes.
rest in peace
Oh gosh I miss him so much and I still think about him everyday. :') Miss you Brandon and I always will.
As a Ret/ Dis Vet who was there, my thanks to the family and friends of this wonderful young man for allowing us to be there in support of our hometown hero! God Bless you and all who gave all!
I came home to San Antonio while my husband is deployed to Iraq for the 3rd time, I saw this on the news and cried for the mans family, and every other family that has had to experience this kind of pain.... I thank God before I go to sleep that we have brave soldiers that die just so we can be free!!!!!!!!!!
From: a Proud Army Wife
This is why I love this country so damn much I mean what other country would go out of their way to do this just for the death of a soldier that they never even knew! I bet when LCpl Brandon Lara bravely took his last breaths he died a proud soldier knowing he fought and died for his country any american will die for this country I know I would, God bless this man and the united states! R.I.P!
Nobody.. Absolutely nobody deserves our love and support more than our soldiers. And how awesome were these folks? God bless every single one..
To say I can't breathe or see right now is an understatement. What a wonderful outpouring of support for a fallen hero, and his family. All home comings should be that way! If you have never seen the movie "Taking Chance" seek it out. God Bless our troops, and their families.
May all of our fallen heroes rest in peace, we know they are all in good hands and safe now.
On July 06, 2011 we bring home another hero to New Braunfels, Texas ... LCpl John Farias .. my girls actually went to school with him at Canyon High School and my oldest daughter Samantha graduated with him ... God Bless all of our Heros and their families ...
Thank you to you and your family for their service. i myself am from a dedicated military family..
My family moved here from Thailand in 1976. our way of saying thanks is for all the sons to serve.. whither its Air Force, The Corps, or the army. we're all doing our part, not for the glory, but to say thank you for giving our family a chance to live within such a wonderful country. im proud to say i AM an american!
Wow.. no matter how many times i see a video like this, it is still very touching, to see that so many people care about the fallen. As the clip ends, I cant help but think about those heroes that return home alive. I hope they all get a big welcome home too.
I have a big brother who is in the air force. Served two tours in Iraq and I'm mighty proud of him. When he was serving his first tour, I sent him and his brothers and sisters a box full of Girl Scout Cookies and they loved it. My way of saying thank you.
I lived in the Schertz area and even worked on Randolph AFB for some time before going to college. I visit my mother frequently who still lives there who forwarded me this link. I am so proud of the surrounding areas to come together to celebrate and congratulate this fallen soldier who gave his life to help protect this country. LCpl Brandon T Lara is a true American hero and will never be forgotten. RIP soldier and know what you have done will not be in vain. Thank you!
I don't think I have ever cried when watching a movie or reading a book, but by the end of this I had tears in my eyes. Thank-you for your service LCpl Brandon Lara.
There are two things Americans can take enormous pride in; The unstinting dedication of their Military and their Peoples' Patriotism. I thank you all for your courage and sacrifice in helping to keep our World a safer place to live. Thank you L.Cpl Brandon Lara. RIP.
God Bless your family, friends and colleagues. God Bless America.
This is the part of America I love. People showing their love and support for one of our troops that paid the ultimate sacrifice. My heart goes out to the Lara family. May God bless you.
How heartwarming to see the support of so many people who truly appreciate the sacrifice of our troops. God bless Lance Corporal Lara and his family.
Not a dry eye in the house. What a beautiful tribute to a hero LCpl Brandon Lara. May you rest in peace and know that your country loves you with all of its heart. And may God bless your family and ease their pain and comfort them.
I may not be from America, nor have i served in the Armed Forces alongside the Men/Women who are serving now BUT i feel the loss of a Loved One. Thank You LCpl Brandon Lara for what you and your Brothaz and Sistaz who have gone and are still serving now. Words cannot express my Graditude to all but a know of a Broken Heart when there is one. "Salute to EVERY Armed Forced Men/Women in this World that we live whether they are here with us or have Fallen". "Thank You..."
I am really at a loss for words. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless all of our troops out there. You will never be forgotten
Stumbling on videos like this, even years after the fact reminds me of why I joined the Army. I truly hope one day none of this will ever be necessary again. No words ever truly take away the pain.
"This We'll Defend."
amazing and touching how many people came outside to show their respects. good too see motorists pulling over also. RIP buddy.
as a fellow American, Texan & San Antonian --- I am glad that someone put this up for the world to see. THIS is what should be seen whenever one of our men or women in uniform make the ultimate sacrifice. THIS is pride and patriotism as only Texans can do it. May his family find solace, may he rest until called again, and may his sacrifice, one day, prove not to be in vain.
My younger sister died in Iraq. She was 19. I bawled through the whole video. I will keep the family in my thoughts. I'm so sorry for your loss, I know what it is like. Stay strong...it get's easier with time.
This video has opened my eyes. I thought that our country the U.S. was horrible. But now I see we're united as we welcomed that young Soldier home. Seeing everyone paying respects to him made me cry.
Marine, even as they lay you to rest..you remind us... This is America...
Thank you for who you are, what you are, and what you gave for us..
God bless you.
A very touching tribute. It was truly impressive to see the multitude of people that lined the streets to honor this one fallen Marine and his family. From a fellow Marine and Texan, Semper Fi and Rest In Peace my brother, job well done.
God Bless the Lara Family. Your son is most certainly in the embrace of Our Lord Jesus Christ ! !
I did see this on the News. It was a beautiful tribute to one of our many fallen hero's!!
God Bless America ! ! !
MJT
God has blessed all of us that we are able to have heros like Lance Cpl. Lara give so much. I pray for peace for his family. His death breaks my heart.
Thank you for the ultimate sacrifice! God bless your family...may he comfort them in their sorrows.
R.I.P MARINE, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.
I WISH I WAS BORN IN THIS COUNTRY TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY.
IM 22, BUT I WAS BRAUGHT HERE WHEN I WAS 3 MONTHS OLD.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND OUR TROOPS!!!
I salute to you LCpl Brandon Lara for all that you did for our country. and your bravery as you defended our freedom and I thank you for that. HOAH!!!!!!!!!.
The Texas Hill Country is the best place in the world. I knew it had the best rivers, now I know it has the best people. What a wonderful tribute--thank you!!
absolutly beautiful... if only it was this way everywhere. God bless him and his family for his sacrifice and may no one forget that Lclp Lara gave his live for this country.
I'm overcome with pride for the people of Texas and for me for being a Texan. Thank you Lara family for your sacrifice and that of your son. God bless you and the honorable people of Texas!
this is what i call respect!
i'm from Denmark, and i think is what we should do so, and not just bring them home. they should have some respect too.
this is so respectful!
RIP.
I am in awe of the respect shown for this young man. My son leaves in the first of 2012 for Afghanistan, I only hope this is not how he, a Lance Cpl in the USMC will NOT come home too. Far to many have. God bless everyone who says a prayer for our troops, and God Bless Texas for showing they love the troops. May all of our troops come home soon and safe!
What an incredible difference from the Vietnam era, when a live serviceman would be spat upon and a dead one shunned. Bless all those who set aside a few minutes of their lives to honor this fallen Marine. And thanks--too late, but thanks, for our freedom, Brandon.
Bravo you American people, you have a sense of country and tribute to the fallen hero for your country. That in France we do not have. 100 of our dead soldiers had received no has this beautiful way home. Congratulations beautiful tribute.
Sorry for my english
even though a soldier has fallen and we can't hear their hearts beat, but the family's can hear their hearts beat inside them for as long they shall live. you have done your part soldier. now you can rest in peace.
Wow. That is one amazing gathering of people. It is good to know that people care about our troops. I wish we would do things like this in my community. A soldier fell a year ago, cannot remember of anything of this caliber happening.
Semper Fi!!! with tears in my eyes everything I can say is you will never be forgotten..
I'm so proud to be an American, but I am even more proud to have been able to serve in the same Corp as this fine Lcpl. Semper Fi and welcome home brother.
SEMPER FEDILIS Marine Take Care of Those Gates In Heaven A Marines Is Always On Duty.....Thank you Making A Video of OUR BELOVED CORPS...................Heros Get Remembered Legends Live For Ever.
Wow, thanks for sharing this touching video. I sure wish I would have known about this or I would have been out there with the others. I believe every soldier should have this done for him or her. May his soul forever rest in peace. Thank you LCpl Brandon Lara for everything you have done to keep this country a safe place. Also thank you to the parents of this fine young man. GOD BLESS AMERICA, THE LAND THAT I LOVE
thanks for posting ! God bless the family
Rest in peace from Australia, May the lord bring about an end to the war, and may your sacrifice be honoured.
This video is so overwhelming. I am from NB and my brother is currently serving his 3rd tour in Afghanistan. It's always sad to lose someone to war, but we can only hope they and their families know how wonderfully grateful we are for them to have sacrificed their lives so that ours are safe. With a heavy heart, but with all the appreciation, we thank you. Your family is in my prayers.
I don't know where Brandon died, but I have been to Bagram AB, Afghanistan and they would announce over the loudspeakers a "fallen comrade" ceremony. Everybody on base would stop what they were doing and line the road to the plane, giving him/her a final salute. It would be shoulder-to-shoulder. They videotape the entire procession from morgue to plane for the loved one. Very sobering. We will never forget you LCpl Brandon T Lara....
i love this song who ever did this did great job
I am not Christian, but I believe that where ever our precious souls go from this wretched realm, that he and all the other fallen Marines are guarding that place and keeping the peace
Rest in peace my Marine brother. i also want to say thank you to the city that banded together to show a marine like myself that there are still people out there that respect the military men and women to show your support to one Marine is a site for my soul. I was starting to think that no one cared anymore.
Thank you to all of the Americans who fight for our country. All of you should be honored. Unfortunately some Americans take you for granted. I dont take you guy for granted; I appreciate the sacrifice you all give for our country. I do serve my country on US soil as a firefighter but its not enough. Any Armed Service member deserves the greatest respect. You all have my respect and I thank you. I will do any thing for you guys Fight strong and fight hard. I cant thank you all enough
I'll never forget landing in Kuwait to begin my tour. Watching the Marines Corps escort a Fallen Marine for the final journey home.
One word can describe this video. Wow. It's hard to hold back tears watching this video. I'm sure half those people stuck in the cars at the lights were cursing their heads off at being held up and once they realized what they were waiting for they shut up real fast.
watching this as an australian soldier i like to say this is the most beutifull tribute i have ever seen
Brought a tear to my eye, a lump in my throat and pride to my heart!!! Peace and Blessings to Lance Cpl. Lara's family....Forever
Welcome Home Comrad.....may you ALWAYS Rest in Peace...............OUTSTANDING video.Made this old man cry
We could argur forever about whether his presence there was justified. But his purpose; to keep us free from fear and oppression was sacred. As I think of my wife holding our son and daughter in her arms and how they have been able to grow free I am thankful to Lance Corporal Lara and all his comrades who have passed or are missing.
Overwhelming respect to all of you soldiers, from all of us.
This is how we do it here in San Antonio...the capitol of the military world. Amazing video. What is shocking is this didn't make local headline news although Micheal Jacksons doctor did?? As a husband to a USAF wife that has served both in Iraq and Afghanistan with another tour lined up I would like to give thanks to the Lara family and we stand by you in a way only military Texans can. God bless Brandon, his family, his friends, and the Corps. God bless Texas and Chevyrat.
This is truly sad, and I am here to state I will soon be in the Army, and I will fight for this man and all the others who have fallen. God bless America
Every soldier fallen in war should have something like that. Semper Fi Marine.
God Bless your brave son. We are a grateful public. Tears streaming....Hero, Devil Dog, Patriot, Son, Servant, Protector, Righteous Warrior. So sorry for your loss...OUR loss I am sure. Me and mine will be praying for your and yours.
You are home now, may you rest in peace Lcpl, my Father served along side you on tour, he misses you greatly. Thank you for serving.
Finally glad to see that they are lining the streets down there in the states now. Greets from Canada.
This is the welcome EVERY service man or woman should receive when the come home.
Its amazing how everyone can come together. Godspeed Lcpl. Lara
A great show of respect to one of our local heroes...God Bless you and your family Brandon.
I love your comment, very respectful and loving. I also want to thank you for supporting us and the Australian military for the're sacrifice, fighting for us and freedom . I had the honor of meeting some of you're troops in Kuwait before I went to Iraq and they are some of the finest people I met. Be proud of them and please thank them for me.
God Bless you and your family. Your death will never be in vain. I, as a Texan and as an American are standing up here at home to take our country back. You gave the ultimate price off of our shores, but know the patriots here are doing our best to keep the honor and the values alive on our own soil. Please look over us from Heaven and ask God to Bless those of us still in the fight.
Sleep in Peace tonight dear friend.
