  • Today I try the Glenfarclas 15, a classic sherry bomb of the celebrated family distillery of Glenfarclas. This 15 is bottled at 46%abv as opposed to most other Glenfarclas releases which are bottled at 43%abv. Is this the best 15 year old whisky out there or... willl another make an appearance in this video which can dethrone Glenfarclas 15?
    Watch and find out, cheers!

Great review! Glenfarclas is my favorite distillery. I only had the 15 when we did the tour there last year, because for some reason it is not sold in the States. I will keep my eyes open for the exchange 15. We get a 17 which is close I think, and I find the 12 has good flavor on the palate too, but my favorite has been the 21. I read that the 15 is the Grant family favorite. We had a good story told there, that some years ago one of the large conglomerates literally handed John Grant a blank check and told him he could write in the amount, and he politely turned it down, saying this will always be a family owned distillery. Lots of respect for that! Slainte!

Wow that is a fantastic story and I'm so glad that he turned it down! Yeah I hear the 15 is a family favorite as well but I haven't tried the 17 yet. We have a tasting coming up soon which features the 17 so I'm much more excited now 😃
I'm glad you liked the review, it is a fantastic distillery! I will visit it in September and I'm so so excited about it 😃🥃
Cheers my friend, thank your insight 🥃

Great comparison to show the value of the higher abv on the whisky's presentation. Cheers!

Great story! I had not heard that. I love GF 15. So much more than their other releases. I have not had the Whisky Exchange version, but sounded great. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Jon, the 15 does have a special place in my heart as well. TWE version should be tried if you come across it. Cheers

Great review on the 15. The 15 is my favourite too. Working through a bottle of 105 and am loving it. Glenfarclas is up there as one of my of my favourite distilleries. Cheers.

Yeah they do some good stuff there, I highly appreciate the great casks and good spirit by this family distillery. Cheers my friend, thanks for watching!

Hey both of these expressions by Glenfarclas sound wonderful! I don't think I could put Glenfarclas 15 as my favourite 15 year old scotch but it is very nice! The elevated version really sounds delicious. The sherry can be a bit too much at times but sometimes I am in the mood for that and it's really good! I haven't seen the Glenfarclas 15 locally at all. I have to order it but it's close by in Alberta and the shipping isn't expensive. Not sure why it seems difficult to track down in many parts of Canada. Love this video! Fabulous! Very enjoyable! Cheers!

Thank you Christine for your feedback! Yeah I don't like sherry bombs that much but the 15 has a different profile which suits me. Hey ho taste is all subjective isn't it and that's why we love whisky 😃

@@thewhiskyenthusiast With a different profile I could definitely try this Glenfarclas! Yes! Right on! I love that we all have different tastes! It makes things so interesting in reviews and in chatting about whisky! I hope you are well! Cheers!

Man, I could live inside that glass. Just the nose alone makes me swoon. Was sad to see it go. The 105 is pretty good imo, at 60% you get some more flavor at the expense of the sophistication that the 15 brings. Great review man!

Thanks dude! I really love this whisky, will always have a bottle. I never really enjoyed the 105 for some reason, also never enjoyed the Glendronach Cask Strength batches which I find are similar to the 105. Cheers brother, thanks for watching

@@thewhiskyenthusiast ok, Glenallachie 15, Glendronach 15, Glen Scotia 15, Speyburn 15, Balblair 15, Tamdhu 15, Benrinnes 15, Highland Park 15, Mortlach 15 (IB), Cu Bocan 15, Benromach 15, Glencadam 15, Deanston 15; I believe these add up to more than 10 for my top single malts. I'd add Redbreast 15 and Red Spot 15 in the Top 10 too. Glenfarclas would be after these :)

@@cemtuncel1602 That is a solid solid list! Taste is so subjective though isn't it. Balblair 15 is an absolute masterpiece and Glen Scotia 15 is gorgeous as well and so is the Benromach. I still haven't tried the Benrinnes, Speyburn or the Cu Bocan but the Speyburns I tried don't give me much hope for the 15 😃
What do you think about Springbank 15? I find it a very divisive malt and I never connected with it.

@@thewhiskyenthusiastI am a huge Springbank fan, 15 is one of my favourites from Springbank. I didn’t put that in the list, because it's so hard to find for many. I have always at least one Springbank15y uncorked in my stock :) It'd be in the first place in the best 15y whisky for me.

@@cemtuncel1602 Oh yeah it's so so difficult to find them in the wild and when you do they're ridiculously overpriced. It might make more sense to actually drive down to Campbeltown and stock up on the whiskies at their RRP
