      @@HatelivesNextDoor It's basic machining. "Shops" like speed shops don't do any machining, whatsoever. The most they'll do is make up bracketry for mounting stuff an welding tubing together for exhaust and induction. For an engine builder, it's trivial work. And to add, the way he does some of this stuff is actually very cringey to watch.

    How about to solve the clutch problem. With an IVT gear, a kind of differential gear, which is braked on the one hand by a servo or electric motor to bring propulsion, you can reach low speeds much more sensitively

    • @TestECull
      @TestECull 2 ปีที่แล้ว +76

      The clutch problem is one that Johnny has encountered countless times in the past and stubbornly refuses to do anything about. He seems to think you can use a clutch for an engine turning 17k+ RPM on an engine that maxes out at 10-12k RPM without modifying it in any way and always goes 'well shit' when the clutch slips so much that the car barely moves. He does this with gearing too; just steadfastly REFUSES to gear his fast builds correctly and they clutter along at half the speed of continental drift as a result.
      The man's a god with a lathe but he is terrible with setting up an RC car to work with an engine that doesn't rev very high. And it's really frustrating for those of us who love what he's building and want to see it perform its best. We tell him this every single time and it just gets ignored.
      With this particular build all he has to do is machine some heavier clutch shoes out of steel and it would have all the power it could ever want to climb basically anything. Instead he left the light weight composite shoes in it and they're just not able to engage enough at the low RPM this engine runs to transfer any power. They're barely engaging enough to keep the engine from overspeeding.

    Clutch engagement is the issue on climbing. You need pin point control on the full engage point on the clutch. Very cool but will need to be geared down and a consistent clutch. Love this kind of stuff, good work on the mods.

      It is definitely geared too high for crawling. I think lower gearing might make the throttle easier to modulate as well. Looks like a full size off road rig taking technical obstacles in 4-HI with an automatic. You rev it up and then it jumps over the obstacle with an uncontrolled lunge. Seems like it could also use lower weight oil in the shocks or pistons with bigger orifices.
      It's a hell of a start, however. Just need some tuning.
