My uncle Scott used to drive for CFI. He said if he was to drive again he’d go with CFI.
I used to deliver paint in refers so it wouldn’t freeze, so anything that could freeze could be used as cargo.
I also watched two different guys mess up by only setting one brake.
One set only the trailer brakes on a hill the brakes failed and down drove the rig.
The other set only the tractor brakes and as more weight was added to the trailer the rig started to slide.
Love these rides and convos...kinda feels like we’re riding in the cab with ya Jeff lol keep’em comin man love this series!!!

You struggling to stop at every light reminds me of a pretty scary ice situation I got into last winter. I was up on Homestake with this truck on a cold rainy day right at sunset. No issues climbing up from Whitehall but as soon as the sun went down the temp dropped and the whole downgrade from the summit into Butte froze solid. I was already going slow (the truck has a warning that pops up when the temp drops to freezing) when one of the faster drivers ahead of me started to jacknife and wrecked into the cliff on the right shoulder, so I used really light brake pressure to slow to 10-15mph with the DT12 in manual shifting mode and locked into 5th or 6th gear. I tried using a little jake whenever it looked like I was on bare pavement but my wheels started slipping as soon as they came on. I crept down that hill with as little braking as I could with the transmission in low range and high RPM just trying to keep my trailer straight behind me while other trucks were slipping off the road left & right and people on the uphill side were stopped in the middle of the freeway chaining their tires. That was the most terrifying few minutes of my career! I pulled into one of the truckstops in Rocker on the other side of town and told my dispatcher I was going to sleep until the road thawed. ⛄

Imagine you have a logitech g27 and your optical encoder piece breaks the slightest crack causing the whole wheel to be ucentered and have to wait 4 weeks for a new piece of plastic. Just imagine
I drove for Wilson for 4 years, great company! Got my CDL with them, did 3 years company, 1 year leasing, all on their CONUS fleet pulling Prime reefers, but based in the old Jim Palmer Missoula terminal rather than the home base in SpriMO, but I got through there plenty often too. My last truck was a 2019 Cascadia nearly identical to the one you're driving here. Good to see you in a Weagle!

Jeff, with the winter weather mod, I've found that sometimes it helps if you click the retarder up twice if you have a truck with a retarder with braking. It usually helps me stop :-) If you ever wanted to try it, keep doing what you do!

I gone over the road with my friend who drives for Wilson Logistics formally Jim Palmer Trucking and they go from coast to coast...I don't know if they go into Canada or not but I do know that they don't go into Mexico.
Yep! All 48 through the Prime reefer network and hauling Wilson trailers out West. We cross into Canada a little bit in the Pacific Northwest area, but no Mexico.
Iv been driving trucks for quite along time and the internet "truckers" telling you not to use your Jake in the snow are laughable. The roads need to be real shit for a Jake lock, and at that point your brakes are just gonna do the same thing, only difference is instead of all of your wheels locking up using the brakes your only gonna have the drives lock up, and along as your paying attention your gonna feel it before your in trouble and all it takes is hitting that micro switch in either the throttle or clutch to cut the Jake off. But what do I know, 10 years of accident free Canadian rocky mountain driving 🤷♂️
Those locomotives in Alamosa were Alco PA-1s or FA-1s. The PAs were used in passenger service and were different from the freight used FAs because they were equipped with steam generators for coach heating. Can't tell from the shot which ones they were, though...

I got my cdl thru prime but I basically taught myself how to drive when I came home and hauled logs. Decent company and yes you’ll see that set up out there
Nice childhood story very interesting, its good to hear not everyone had it good,we all have our struggles in life. Keep going on the videos, also I use the heavy snow mod,I put the brake level very high,it seems to me to work a little better compare to having it lower..maybe you've tried but if not try give it a real bump,and give it a test run.

Yes they were fading the Jim Palmer name out slowly. They would just say JP was the western 10 division. I was there up until last June.

Lift axles are a way to lift some tires off the road when they are not required to support the load. If a lorry needs all the axles occasionally, there's already the weight penalty, so a way of improving fuel economy and reduce road noise is to lift the wheel off the road.
Crazy how that looks basically perfect on the cascadia. Can you switch the instrument cluster? Like toggle from the mpg to the digital speedometer?

Fun fact if you were unaware. Wilson is based in Springfield just as Prime Inc is. Actually their terminals are basically right next to each other. Wilson was filing for bankruptcy and Rob Lowe (CEO of Prime Inc) bailed them out. That’s why you see Wilson pulling mostly prime trailers.
Lol I used to work for prime!!!! Good company but busy busy busy. From what I understand, the CEO of Wilson was actually a prime driver years ago, then he bought his truck that he leased from prime, kept the business up, and bought more trucks. So its a good size company thats contracted with prime to haul primes freight. Its awesome how just a regular company driver can start with nothing and make a whole business with it. Hey Jeff! I would really like to get into youtube of my gameplay and just random nonsense in my day of life... What are your suggestions? Ive recorded quite a few good videos but never uploaded because I dont have an actual headset with mic... I use PC speakers and a mic on my webcam. I am using this Winter mod and Grimes did a better than ever job. I can't drive an automatic since I have my SKRS shifter handle. I could but why? LOL I ended up going into the console and turning my braking force up to 5.0 so I could slow down better. Still smashing some cars... LOL

Was Amazing to hear your story, i Can relate to what you Say about people taking things for granted, even if i didn't live in a national Forest, just sleeping in a dirt hole under showering rain, outside in the cold and humidity during my Time in the army made me appreciate little things in normal life such as a bed, blanket, shower and toilets...
Anyway, i'm looking forward to work on the ground services at an airport but waiting for the covid to calm down. So i'm curious to hear or read about that part of your active life.

That truck is a beauty. My grandma drove an older version Freightliner but she wanted to go for a newer model. But didn't get to and she ended up retiring. My grandpa's (her ex-husband) drove a light blue Peterbilt 389.

Love that Big Mama JuJu voice, she gonna run them over if they don't git over. haha I was born in the early 1970's so I can relate to how you grew up. I grew up in a log cabin in Nova Scotia, CA about 30 miles from Halifax. No running water, but we did have a well that ran off of a hand pump. I can relate to the outhouse too...and me and my sister had no problem helping with the wood because we'd freeze our little behinds off without it. As you said, I'm glad I grew up that way because it taught me to appreciate all the little things in life. I love it when you take the time to talk about the great scenery in this game...I can tell you appreciate all that live has given youl.
Sorry for being "That guy" in the comments but do you have a modslist on a website that I can look up Jeff? Having some trouble with JazzyCat's traffic mods due to a recent update and I forgot the mod that lets us use real companies. (Been out of the loop for like 2 years now)
I also heard about the Israeli military guy who said that thing about a galactic federation. I'm skeptical of it, but it's also uncanny considering all the things that have been going on with TTSA and various other aspects of media and news (the NY Time article, etc.) but while I agree that we are probably not alone in the universe, I find it hard to believe that some form of life that developed var away would resemble us in any way (whether by being physiologically humanoid or having federations and politics. I don't know what the truth is, and I wish we would get some clear answers - but at this point I also don't trust most of what these "experts" from the governments of the world are saying, because they have a history of lying to people for strategic gain.
Does it represent the 7% grade for 11 miles on 70 just west of Denver? That was my first butt-clenching moment on a hill. 73K and I almost roasted the brake drums. An old vet driver got his empty flatbed in front of me and I used my deer bar to help slow me down. we pulled over at the bottom and stood around with fire ext's waiting for the tires to catch fire. There was a lot of red in the trailer brakes. But it didn't and I never took that kind of risk again. 1 time fast or 1000 times slow, your choice.
I need help, I’ve got the real company 3D logos mod and sisl’s trailer mod. Sisls mod worked fine but ever since I added the 3D logos 99% of the trailers become the ugly sliding tarps, any idea how to fix this? And yes I have sisls over the 3D logos
I drove for Wilson a year ago or more. Great company, but they ran me too hard and 4 weeks out at a time for OTR division. 1 day off for every week you were out and that was the minimum you had to be out to get "time off". Even though Im subscribed I had to click!!

Hey Jeff, I might sound a little over the top here but with driving through the snow, would call for a dirty looking truck. Most Cascadias I see on the road have nothing but highway dust all over them. Is there a graphics mod that could make that happen on the truck?
other than the 2 lane highways, missing major landmarks/cities like USAFA and Castle Rock the sim def looks very similar to colorado roads

Since I got the track IR Jeff, my game is awesome. And the Cascadia is my favorite truck in the game and real life.
Some crackpot alien story along the same theme comes out pretty regularly. Though I seriously doubt that we are alone in the universe, the enormous scale in time and distance make me fairly pessimistic regarding our chances of ever encountering alien life. Perhaps some day we will find some concrete evidence in the form of radio signals, etc.
Was with prime for 2 years and then went mom and pop. They should out a 17, 18 and a 21 series trailer so you can fuck with primes horrible trl tail ideas over the years

There is not a mod to slow down the AI. Maybe what they are referring to is the warp command on the developer console. The warp command will slow everything down in the game. Hope this helps !
