He wasn't being sarcastic at all, he was just exaggerating in a humorous way the probability of inattention during jummah :) Sarcasm is when you say one thing but mean another, and God forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think the point of disallowing sarcasm is to prevent ill feelings between ppl, so sarcasm shouldn't be used in a cruel, rude and condescending way, which Brother Nouman wasn't even close to being. Peace
Surah Tawbah 9:123 - O you who believe! Fight the unbelievers who SURROUND you, and let them find firmness in you; and know that Allah is with those who FEAR Him. Surah Al Baqarah 2:191 - And slay them wherever you catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (FIRST) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.
im only discussing the caravan raids incident and you want to bring something else, its fine I understand where you are going with this. Though the point is like I initially said, fighting in Islam is not only under the banner of self-defense- and we can refer to many holy/authentic sources on that.
I don't think you understand the situation when two parties are at war. When you have to leave your property and land behind because you are being persecuted for saying there is no god but Allaah, you better believe you would do everything in your power to regain some of your lost wealth.
that what wasn't in self defense? It's not like they went in violently. They only resorted to violence if ppl attacked THEM while they went on the expeditions. There's a difference between being the first to attack and just stepping foot in another land.
The words of the Quran are the words from Allah. Yes, the words of An-Nabi sallallahualayhiwasalam have to be obeyed. However we don't take things out of context.
Because we are not that fool to pull out the verses out of context and interpret it foolishly. We have scholars who teach the quran in a way it was taught by our Prophet.
he was not sarcastic..should he be indifferent to situations like that..he just sometimes refers to problems in humorous way....some would shout ,or they are being serious and arrogant when complaining, he is just doing it in a more acceptable way..idk..:)..just concentrate on the didactic message :)
property or no property, the fact is they (muslims) attacked first, and it wasn't done in the name of self-defense. I'll concur it was done out of recovering stolen-assets. The original claim is that Islam and violence are only correlated with each other under the guise of self-defense, I think not, it is an issue many muslims have trouble understanding today.

Scholars address those issues accordingly. And believe me they address it after investigating the situation, and not with full of emotion and bias.
Alhamdulillah :) I like his "sarcasm". Truth is still the truth however it may be presented :) #TruthHurts
