I picked up the same lure this spring to compare it to the SP Minnow. I've been happier with th Yo-Zuri. It's easier to cast with as it stays better balanced. It gets out farther than the SP Minnow. You don't need to have the perfect setup to cast with it.
Seems like I catch more fish with the Diawa SP Minnow, but I don't know if it's because I've used it longer and have more confidence in that lure. Both are great, this one maybe goes slightly deeper and is more durable.
Enjoying your vid. Use the Yo-Zuri for successful Halibut surfcasting in California. 1oz. jerk baits get you in the zone much better and.....'oh shit'....did you just set your rod and nice spinner in the sand. I cringe!
Nice. Lol yeah my rods and reels can take the salt and sand I just rinse them well. I always place it on the sand with the handle as a stand. Thanks for watching.
That's what I'm using too just got into surf fishing on the west cost and almost got spooled(3/4 of 330yds) before my knot snapped at the jerkbait I was using
Nice job! You still using this yozuri? I picked up a crystal minnow in bone recently. I haven’t used it yet but it looks like a good one. How far does the hydro cast? I’m down south so I’m targeting different species. 👍
Thanks. Yea I still carry it in my surf bag. I have the crystal minnow I think the sinking model. It’s not very heavy and doesn’t cast as well as the hydro minnow. But I have caught fish using it when they are closer to the shore. The hydro casts farther and comes in larger models than the crystal minnow.
change the split rings and hooks. I've had straighten hooks and pulled split rings. But its an excellent lure for sure. It doesn't dig as deep as a sp, bomber or mag darter.
I’m glad you got fish using hydro because I just bought one with the same color.
Yea it works. I feel like it might not swim as deep like 1/2 foot difference from SP Minnow.

What colors would be best to use during night times and on full moon nights
Generally I like to use Black and purple or a Yellow or Bunker gold pattern at night.
Profile and presentation is more important though.
Which one has the better action?

Les Wang Fishing did you replace the hooks and split rings on your sp minnows?
Only on the 15cm model. The middle size model. The larger and smaller 17 and 13 seem to have better hardware.
California?
New York
The Yo-Zuri runs shallower than the SP

Crazy. Are you tying direct to the lure or you using a leader? What knot are you using for the braid?
Alberto for leader connection and uni to lure
Freddie Skates sorry in this video the line I used is 30lb super slick. My new lighter setup I run 20lb v2.

Yea I find it doesn’t dig as deep either after using it last year.
