​@gkaymesh haven't watched it all yet but I'd guess it's to keep it under estimate so they could show off the end game. Marathon runs tend to be more like demonstrations. Yeah it sucks they had to load a different save but they get to show more of the run.

It's called a hitbox, essentially an arcade stick with the joystick replaced with buttons that correspond to up, down, left, & right

The software allows us to edit save files, and one of the things we can edit is character names

I remember from another FFIX run that it skips the animation of each character preparing to attack. For Zidane it looks like he's hunching down and holding his weapon more to the side, and then they have to return to their idling animation post attack.
By constantly trying to escape, the running animation overrides all of that.
