@@Covert_Smalls that seattle has really only ever drafted cbs in later rounds and they were never players who looked at as top cornerbacks until they joined seattle.
Tariq woolen, Richard Sherman both were drafted in the 5th round. So if Pete has a cb that STARTS as a top corner, he could turn maybe turn him into one of the best ever. That’s obviously not something we’ll know for years, but we can hope.

I see that Devon himself hearted my comment so I want to say in response how good it is to have you on our team. Your fine character is obvious. You're such an impressive young man, one who I know will become, with time, a team leader and a role model to countless kids like my son (who's eight).
I feel bad for Jalen, who got passed over, but hopefully he landed in a great spot for himself with the Eagles, another solid organization with excellent coaches and leadership. In a way it's silly to say this, as you are both multi-millionaires as of last night, but at 60, I know there's so much more to life than money. I want you both to succeed in ways more meaningful. I want all young men (and women) to succeed. To grow into solid people who feel good about their accomplishments and contributions in life. You are obviously well on your way. You understand this far better than I did at your age, which is no doubt a big part of why John Schneider and Pete Carroll chose you.
I've sent a copy of your interview to my son because I think you're already a great role model for him. Thank you for this. He needs strong role models with high character, even though he's a privileged white kid with educated parents. Even more, I appreciate the role modeling you'll offer to kids without those advantages. Your solidity as a man is obvious. The way you bring forth joy and hard work, together, in a way that's infectious. I imagine you've had some great role models along the way. Hopefully your parents. Hopefully many others as well.

He'll fit into the team culture so seamlessly. I can see why Pete jumped to pick him up at 5. He's saying all the familiar things that the Seahawks preach every game: "go out and compete," "have swag but have some fun while handling business." They keep things light and fun in practice and get all serious on the field. And he'll be learning from some of the best modern era defenders in the league. Kudos to two of the female reporters that actually asked questions instead of the stammering guy that kept interrupting and finally asks the really big questions like "Seattle has a rabid fan base, what do you have to say to them?", or the perpetually awful question of "how do you feel about rain?". Give me a break.

Solid pick but not the best available player at #5. John let the cat out of the bag when he slipped and said they had 5 or 6 teams on the phone discussing deals but time ran out - they were going to trade down and take him later. They picked him this high because Pete fell in love with him in the visit/interview: listen to his press on it. Pete was concerned about where the instincts were coming from, given he only started playing as a junior in high school and was a ZERO star recruit. What he found out was Devon is an intelligent, hard-working guy that identifies the play correctly - not guessing, but knowing - and then executes and not afraid to do so physically. He'll be good, maybe even great, but the consensus best player was still on the board at a position of need. Don't know where everyone is getting their A grades for Seahawks - most I see say B- for both picks, and I'd agree. Only time will tell.
What if he hates Led Zeppelin reruns and ranch dressing? I think he will demand a trade.
