    It's a 4 cylinder yah plum 😂

    I had one as my daily transport in the early 80s and regularly thrashed it. It used to indicate well over 80 - how fast it was actually going I don't know, but it felt fast. In a straight line it felt absolutely stable. Going forward I only managed to get it onto two wheels a couple of times - in the wet it was more likely to slide as it had cross-ply tyres. I fitted mine with radials and managed to break the trailing arms. I did manage to turn it over in reverse on full-lock once. I think the gearbox on the one you're driving is knackered - the engine and gearbox were extremely nice, better than many 70s cars.

    I remember seeing these back in the 70's, I can't believe only 2000 were made. Lovely car and great video!

    Didn't Jonny teach you to do your homework, 4 cylinders in Reliant's own aluminum engine.

    My old Reliant Regal would go well over 60mph, I'm sure the Bug would too

    850cc 2 cylinder engine?. No 700cc 4 cylinders.

    It shouldn't have jerky acceleration and the valves are way loud

    • @MilesOnCars
      @MilesOnCars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you're right. The Jerky acceleration was fixed shortly after filming the video, it was an issue with the Carburettor - I believe it has been changed for a slightly larger one and tuned to suit.

      It's an 850 4 cyl (Robin), notice the modified badges - popular upgrade.

    And not to be forgotten...Tom Karen, the designer was the very same guy that designed the iconic two wheeled 70s legend...." The Raleigh Chopper"....which was also available in 70s orange!

    They were aimed at young drivers. At the time of release you could even get free insurance with a new purchase. But that was soon stopped as the number of claims was very high, as you might expect.

    4 cylinders Miles. A candidate for electrification?

    • @MilesOnCars
      @MilesOnCars  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think electrifying a vehicle as basic as this would essentially be removing half of the car, most of its character would disappear. Electrifying classics does work in certain applications but not this one...(or the DeLorean!).ically
