I agree. This person knows something good. Thanks for this I’m old. Practiced Judo, (jujutsu), MooDukwan, (taekyion) Shotokan Goyu Ryu and Boxing. 🎉Excuse my spelling. When after many decades, I discovered Russian Systema’s boxing techniques and other military attack/defense methods, I heard of WC. After 10 years of practice, I have experienced how the whole relates to one: Learning Win Chun has enabled me to amalgamate all I know. I am not yet rationally sure how, but whenever I had to go in automatic stuff comes up without thinking: a spontaneous mix of combinations of blocking or deflecting, moving and counter that I never before thought of. Because all fighting schools/styles, taken as complete fighting systems/methods, have the same trigger at their origin: Shaolin. So Win Chun became the light that showed me the connection between all of them and allowed me to widen my scope. I am 70 today, after 62 years training I hit hard fast an accurately. I surely defend myself better since I learned WC.
I would definitely enjoy learning Wing Chun from you. I love your attitude! My philosophy is “If you find yourself in a fair fight, your strategy sucks!”

Interesting comment you made about when to start training on the WD. My Sifu originally had us start training on the WD after 12 months. His Sifu, the reknown Shu Shong Tin, told him WD shouldn’t be taught until after BJ, so my Sifu stopped teaching WD until people had learnt the WD. To be honest, I did benefit from learning WD early, but the real benefits came after learning WD. Even then, it took several more years to truly understand the real purpose of the WD and how to do it well. Learning on the WD how to cultivate force, how and where to focus this force whilst moving around and applying it to an opponent which was designed to be neither hurt nor moved, offers enormous benefits to our WC development. These benefits may not be so obvious for a while, given it is also practiced against an opponent who will not fight back. Not with punches and kicks anyway. This video is a good start on what to do in the WD form and, IMHO, the beginning of a profound journey in our WC development.

For my distance check I palm strike its ‘face’. So far your section 1 looks like what I learned. Good tip about striking to the center, not the arms. Dummy work really helps train angles and force feeling, also it teaches you to sink/root for power so you don’t get knocked off balance. I think that initial part of section 1 also teaches you to relax, use pushing/striking force, relax, then quickly switch to pulling force, on the fly. Also good showing how posture is important, move body as a unit, not leaning back or forward, good.

Hi Sifu just ordered your book along with a dummy from warrior martial arts Supply do you have any general advice for me as I begin to read and apply the curriculum from the book to the dummy
Fantastic. Hope you love the book and enjoy the training on your new dummy. I’d say the best advice is to take your time learning and not rush. Relax with the movements so there’s a mind/body connection, springy forward energy, and balanced structure. The worst thing we do is be in a hurry and think we “know” the form because we’ve memorized the sequences. All these years and I still don’t know it! I’m always learning and correcting and that’s the best approach to it, I think. People who do that get the best out of it. Anyway, thanks again and best wishes to you in your training!

@Счастье wow! That’s quite a bit of distance. And, yes, the book is designed to teach the form A-Z, so that should help you. Between the book giving you the nuts and bolts and the video providing an overview, you should be able to really get the form down. Best wishes to you and thanks for watching.
Bought your book. You did a wonderful job. I was on the fence though, as I grew up in Anderson, SC, and my experience growing up in the south (as a Jewish queer man) was on par with torture. Therefore, whenever I discover someone is from that area I am always a bit suspicious of their politics and beliefs. While the book did hint at some republican leanings (which does make me wonder if I should buy anything else) I certainly hope I am incorrect. Don’t get me wrong, my beliefs make most judge me incorrectly so my assumptions won’t be the deciding factor. You book was worth every penny, your lineage checks out, and your knowledge of the basics seems to be up there with greats like Sifu Francis(out of Atlanta )and Sifu Adam ( out of BC), but those two are not human.
@@danielmollohan1703 glad you enjoyed the book. And you’re right about both Francis and Adam. I’ve had the great privilege of spending some time with them and they’re both tremendously talented. Not only that, they exemplify the martial spirit…kind, wise, and strong. As for Republican leanings, I’d simply clarify that in my other books (especially The Way of the Blade since it deals with weaponry) I provide the philosophical foundation for self-defense. I don’t skip over the metaphysical-epistemological-and ethical chain required to arrive at the basic truth that all people - without exception or qualification - have the God-given right to liberty. It’s upon this philosophical foundation that self-defense makes sense. In other words, I provide what you’d call a libertarian (albeit one based in both theology and natural law) worldview and the non-aggression principle to undergird a moral system of self-defense. A Jewish queer man would have every right to self-defense according to these principles as a southern bible study leader. That’s the beauty of it…and why I write about it. The truth is that we’re all doomed to ever increasing levels of conflict if we persist in this madness of mis-identifying the nature of rights and self-defense. So, that’s what you’d read in my other work basically. A vigorous explanation and defense of the moral principle of self-defense…that since none of us are God, we must not use any force or fraud against one another. This is, in my estimation, the basis of true social peace and actual political liberty. We don’t all have to agree in order to uphold basic rights. (In fact, we have a quick video short coming up that explains this.) In all, I don’t write about politics…I stick to self-defense and the moral philosophy upon which it rests. Thanks again for your support and for the opportunity to address such a significant modern issue. 😎🙏
That was a great video on the MYJ. I would love to see more though I get the commercial reasons for not giving up the farm. Thats said your VT/WC/WT brothers and sisters to the north in Canada would love to purchase the book. Sadly amazon will not ship north of the boarder. Is there anyway for you to assist in having you books available in Canada? I fully agree that much of VT has become trapped in Chi Sao and traditional dogma. I’ve stumbled on your TH-cam channel and am rapidly appreciating your modern more practical interpretation of Wing Chun. I love this art and your knowledge and sharing it is needed more than ever if this beautiful art is going to survive. Please keep it up!!!

We get that a lot and I’ve always thought that’s because I’ve boxed for years and that’s where WSL started, so there’s that core way of seeing the Wing Chun concepts. Anyway, my lineage is Ip Man...my direct Sifu is Tony Massengill. Thanks for watching!
Hello sir, is this book in Kindle format only? I went to Amazon to buy it and it only gives me a Kindle format. I'd like a actual book in hand. I'm kinda old school. Thank you for your time. I love your videos.
As far as footwork, Kung fu often changes its form. Snake for instance, had a style of snake from the more mountainous regions but a different one for flatter parts.
Sir your elbow should be on the inside for the thumb to the eye and slip to neck hold. The left hand without a grab using the bladed edge of hand/arm will stay in contact and using gravity and natural friction kinda of like a lap sau but from inside outwards. So when then the thrust of the thumb eye gauge (heaven forbid) fingers darting downwards and arm thrusting forwards the opponents head will turn to their right side at which point dip the elbow (keeping on the inside still avoid a blow from opponents left arm) and place forearm on collar bone with neck control hand hooked around. At the same point as the elbow dip with the timing on the opponents face turn to avoid eye gauge you left hand can shoot in on the inside abandoning the inner lap sau type miss direction caused by the hip turn to thrust right arm and dart back in with left palm to chin(face sideways still) this can be a head and neck throw entry or worse but the throw is there. Wing Chun is good for sensitivity and makes you good for learning other styles back lacks real world momentum due to nature of the training.
Looks that there’s a great stuff out here. If I live in NJ where can I get my son trained? Any recommendations? He loves Bruce Lee and would like to practice JKD
On eye gouging, context matters. Long story, I saw two guys fighting in a parking lot. There was a crowd and I stupidly wanted to see what was happening. Smaller, faster guy poked the other's eye, ~kinda on accident. The big dude had just warned the other, don't poke my eyes. He kept throwing the Jeet eye poke out. Well, he did anyway, and the big guy got crazy angry, and told his friends to ''get that, exploitative ''. So, one of them shot a gun at ''mister eye poker'' a few times. He then showed everybody that ''speed''🏃♀🏃♀. Nobody got hit, but man it was intense. Not being that kind of fast, I pulled my friends with me under a 4×4 truck until everything was over. This was in Austin Texas on July 4th, 1990's. My friends from Iowa have never been back to Texas. I wonder why? However, one way to look👀(get it?) at this is that the big guy after getting his eye poked, was definitely out of commission. So, it did work, but as usual in a stupid street fight, nothing goes as planned. The law of unintended consequences can be rough.
I loathe the term "wrong bon (sao)" ... and have been using "san bon sao" (meaning 3rd bon sao... first being what we see in siu lam tao, and second being in chum kiu which is more engaged at the elbow distance)
You could, but here’s the longer answer LOL. The material/structures of the empty hand forms are used in the dummy forms. They provide the structural “truth” for the Mook Jong actions and, therefore, are the gauge as to whether we’re doing the dummy form correctly. Without that base, errors are harder to correct because there’s no structural standard “pre-built” into the trainees’ muscle memory. For this reason alone it’s best to learn the empty hands as well as their corollary on the dummy. Second, we see that the structures from the empty hand forms aren’t used on the dummy in the same way they are in the air. That’s instructive. It’s huge because it tells us that the Wing Chun structures don’t look the same on the dummy and from that we can assume they’ll look different when used in fighting. I think that point is really missed these days. Students keep thinking that they have to “look like they’re using Wing Chun” for their stuff to be valid. We can know this is a false standard simply by looking at the difference in application from empty hands to dummy. So, yeah…you can get the actions from the dummy alone. Not gonna deny that. But this leaves us with a few gaps (as mentioned) and for that reason I’d recommend that we learn the empty hand forms too. Hope this helped answer your question. And thanks a bunch for watching.
and people call Shaolin Kung Fu the king of the fighting Arts grandfather of all martial arts and granddaddy of hand-to-hand fighting but you can learn Shaolin Kung Fu and Wing Chun at any age

Anyway, we’ve got a short TH-cam series on footwork drills as well as more in depth material on our Teachable site if you’re interested in that. Hopefully they’ll help you out. As a beginner (at any stage really) it’s really important to develop your SLT structure and add footwork to it, so don’t underestimate the importance of the basics! Thanks for watching. It’s great having you a part of our channel.
@@JKDandWingChun hello Sifu! Thanks for your response! I'll take a look at the content you are referring to and start working on that asap.
Thanks again! Have a great weekend!
the word "wrong" is phonetically the same as "not correct", but in fact, it is the "cross over" word which has the same phonetic and voicing as "wrong", in the wc axiom, the founder already foresaw the potential mis-interpretation , hence, the axiom alread have elegantly states "{wrong} is not referring to wrong" , original axiom herein 錯非真錯
Thanks
Nice dance moves.
Hahahahahahahahaha ," many flowers; bearing no fruit."
how hard can u hit a free standung dummy like the one there with weight on it. vs one on a frame ? ( i dont mean wallmounted , comon sense tels me u can hit them hard ) im in the market for a dummy . but i only want to buy one
The wooden dummy is one of the best martial arts equipment, it could be used for other styles, would you agree. Plus, I defiantly want the book.
Hello Jason. I love your demonstration on the first section. Want to order your book, does it come in a book format? Thanks.
Thanks so much for the support. Here’s a link for the hard copy of the book. Hope you like it.

@Счастье wow! That’s quite a bit of distance. And, yes, the book is designed to teach the form A-Z, so that should help you. Between the book giving you the nuts and bolts and the video providing an overview, you should be able to really get the form down.
Best wishes to you and thanks for watching.
What is the link to buy the book

Hi Jason, tried to buy the book on Amazon but as I am UK based it would not let me. Maybe you can release it for Amazon UK?
David Bennett it should be...🤔....we’ll check it out. Not sure why it told you that. Sorry. Hopefully we can get that fixed in a hurry. Thanks for letting us know and for your patience.
It shows a release in the UK. Not sure why there’s a delay but everything looks good to go on our end. That’s weird. Maybe you can try again later and let me know. So sorry for the inconvenience.
@@JKDandWingChun Thanks, just tried again the next day and it worked this time so its all good
Great teacher, I have what is known as the octopus wooden dummy. I use it once a day. I plan on incorporating your teachings with my own. Also wanted to say God bless you and you have a great personality SeeFu👍👍👍
William Lloyd 🙏. Thanks for the input and for watching.
What is your lineage Sifu?
Looks very close to Wong Shung Leung
We get that a lot and I’ve always thought that’s because I’ve boxed for years and that’s where WSL started, so there’s that core way of seeing the Wing Chun concepts. Anyway, my lineage is Ip Man...my direct Sifu is Tony Massengill.
Thanks for watching!
Hello sir, is this book in Kindle format only? I went to Amazon to buy it and it only gives me a Kindle format. I'd like a actual book in hand. I'm kinda old school. Thank you for your time. I love your videos.

Recommend any Chicago-area Wing Chun?
Couldn't you ram/push the person with your center of mass behind your arm instead of trying to turn into them? I'm thinking like peng from taiji.
One question in this might be different the strongest Kung Fu styles of northern and southern are Shaolin Kung Fu and Wing Chun Kung Fu
As far as footwork, Kung fu often changes its form. Snake for instance, had a style of snake from the more mountainous regions but a different one for flatter parts.
Excellent Point moral legal awareness
Maste please show the foot work alongwith full step

Sure wish I lived in Greenville.
Looks that there’s a great stuff out here. If I live in NJ where can I get my son trained? Any recommendations? He loves Bruce Lee and would like to practice JKD
You are both funny!
Much smarter than 90% or more politicians ;-)
Mike Ruddell only 90%?? 🤣
@@JKDandWingChun Ok, so I was a little bit generous.
U planning to open a school in NJ or NYC area ? East coast
You're one of like, 3 people I've met that knows the dummy arms don't necessarily represent a real opponent's left or right arm.
Even fewer understand the role of the Wooden Dummy is not about attacking the arms.
Took a old chair ... legs an made one. Going to hang on fence an play around.

@@JKDandWingChunHello, Bonjour, I'm Proud to know Youur Courses even if the Atlantic separates us.😀🌎
I loathe the term "wrong bon (sao)" ... and have been using "san bon sao" (meaning 3rd bon sao... first being what we see in siu lam tao, and second being in chum kiu which is more engaged at the elbow distance)
Can someone get by from just knowing Mook Jong?
And thanks a bunch for watching.
the wooden dummy is a no-no in HUNT KING DO. the reason, it got a bad habit.
In the Netherlands our scool is closed now because of covid :(
He says wing chun is useless
He teaches wing chun
Okay, why is it anytime you see one of these training things the teacher is blocking what their trying to show you. Nevermind but thanks.
"How to defend yourself in a prison shower"
and people call Shaolin Kung Fu the king of the fighting Arts grandfather of all martial arts and granddaddy of hand-to-hand fighting but you can learn Shaolin Kung Fu and Wing Chun at any age
Teaching while looking above the rim of your glasses somehow takes away credibility. Sorry friend...it just looks odd. But what you are saying sounds great.
i know know how to defeat any wing chun practitioners, a helmet.
