Gameplay, music, and visual-wise is a true curbstomp in the Mega Drive's favor. Other than that, it's very close. Oh, and tossing trolls out a glass elevator is satisfying as hell.
Not sure. Probably completely different. SNES has a more detailed attract mode btw. Other than that, SNES version plays like the sluggish Spider-Man: The Video Game for the arcade. Genesis feels faster and smoother. I'm also very disappointed that the two title intros aren't simultaneous. A Sailor Moon orchestra of both SNES and Genesis chips would be music to my ears.
***** I've only played the arcade version, the game play of the Genesis version looks very similar to the game play of the arcade version - fast and smooth.
I actually agree, the SNES version has choppy and stiff animation, where the SG version is smooth as silk. Plus the SG version is the better playing brawler. It has the better soundtrack too.
Sometimes you can punch through enemies without connecting on the MD version, hit detection is not perfect at all. The SFC version seems to have that issue with the first stage boss, after that, not at all.
Genesis version has no co-opplay,someone majorly screwed up there, so no, it doesn't win. It is however an excellent game, that sadly has gotten extremely expensive for a copy of it.
Didnt know the snes version came out 1 full year before the mega drive version... So why the hell with all these nice upgrades they removed the 2 player option????
I hear Ark Systems Works did this version,I'm not sure why they didn't include a 2 player mode at all. Seems silly to leave this version 1 player only, considering you get 5 Sailor Scouts to choose from.
I'd go with Mega Drive, it has much better graphics and sounds overall. In my opinion the SNES seems abit too "upbeat" and Mega Drive looks more "Serious", which is good. I'm just lucky to have a Mega Drive AND the game. I'm British and the game works!
The SNES version may have slightly better graphics, but the Genesis has the definitive version. Better soundtrack, way more backstory and cutscenes, and second to none gameplay. IMHO, the Genesis version is the best of ANY Sailor Moon game out there. The only other that comes close is Sailor Moon S on the Game Gear. I challenge anyone to tell me otherwise.
Resolution doesn't make or break a game. Sounds like Genesis fanboys are running out of things to compare left. When it comes to this, the fights over. Take the L and move on, and just enjoy the games.
According to me both are great animations and sound even levels both have their unique levels, but what I find only thing which is better on mega is the character response in fast however in SNES it founds slight laggy or slow which makes you hard to fight if enemy is near you because before your char. Respond the enemy hit you and that's what SNES fails other wise both are great in other ways I gave them equal points🍹🍷
SEGA-Fanboy says: SEGA has the better intro. Unfortunally the game seems to be a bit dark on SEGA and I like the design of the first level more in the SNES-version. 7:15 - Kicking dudes out of the elevator is cool and reminds me to Streets of Rage. This wins SEGA. 8:10 - SNES-version sux hard. Twilight-zone? Hm, a mix would be nice. Street-level of SNES, then elevator of SEGA and again finishing map on SEGA. All in all: SEGA takes the cake, but both versions could do better. Animations are fine on both.

MD version is just too expensive for it's going rate these days. Yes, the SFC version plays slower (corrected in the next game, Sailor Moon R), and it's the version I own as it's affordable, but the MD version being so expensive means I'll never own a copy....unless I get lucky like occasionally I tend to do. The two games however, couldn't be more different to compare.
Man I managed to snag a copy back when this comment was written, and now its going for DOUBLE the price now. Sad to see scalpers take up every facet of retro game collecting. It just isn't that fun to collect anymore
Watching by this video mega drive wins, but snes have a lot of other sailor moon games at street fighter style and this final fight style, and others like puzzle and rpg
On a system with 3 Streets of Rage games with co-op, yet this one does not possess that at all. It wins nothing, other than being a pretty game, like the other brawlers for the series.
As a genesis fan myself I thought the SNES version was little bit better to just from what you stated and SNES is two players where Genesis is only one.
Eben335, to get an intro, you lose a 2 player mode, a key ingredient to a beat em up, and one of the dumbest decisions ever made by a game developer to axe the option. Every other beat em up Sailor Moon is multiplayer, both SFC games, and an arcade game from Gazelle. Boast about your intro, it is the only thing you have to grasp on to. Hell outside of Final Fight on the SNES, every other beat em up is 2 players, some up to 4, some up to 6 (X-Men arcade).
Nope, no co-op play, a key essential to a belt scroller beat em up. That right there absolutely puts the stake in the MD version's heart. Blame Arc Systems Works for that huge oversight.
Lot of Sega fanboys still upset that Nintendo trounced them in the console war is what you see in these kinds of videos on this channel (including the channel ownerwho is a Sega fan). They should be more pissed at Sony, who buried them, and the heads of the US and Japan branches of Sega who screwed up tons.
The fasterpacing hurts the MD's version, and is sort of a detriment in Sailor Moon R SFC's case, though the latter is actually balanced better despite being just as fast as the MD's game.
@@NewGabeOrder And a better balanced game on the SFC version, and a far fairer price tag to buy a copy. Nothing screams hell no not buying this than a $100-200 pricetag that the MD version commands.
SNES has cool animations for idle things and losing as well as better sound quality (though it has the inferior music) but Genesis is better in everything else.
Play it in hard mode, pick Sailor Mercury, your mind might change. I was higher on the game too, till I picked her, hard mode, and promptly enemies were breaking out of any punch combo I could muster up, especially if a second enemy came from behind. Most games of this genre give you an invincibility frame or two while you are attacking one enemy and another attacks, but not this game.

@@Bloodreign1 I played the Hard Version for Queen Matellia and I can say,yes indeed they gang up on you,but you can attack like way faster and personally it felt a little challenging, whereas The SNES version to put it in to a single word, was IMPOSSIBLE and genuienly had me wanting to destroy the device, you can't even attack the enemy 3 times because because after the second one they will immedietly beat you up and gang up on you,The Sailor Moon Arcade game had 10 monsters ganging up on you in no time and even that was was easier then this, the enemy is stupid and way too overpowered in SNES,they can attack way far away from where you can attack, especially Rei's grandpa, like the second they get up they turn into marbles and then start attacking you then gangster up on you like cowards, the bosses play dirty they only use 2 out of 4 buttons and make the game lacking ANY smooth movements or attacks,I like how each girl is special like Ami bejng the fastest,Makoto being the strongest,Minako having Venus Love Me Chain which is a huge advantage in both games but personally in my opinion The SNES version feels rushed and one last thing Mega Drive/Genesis has more health so you can retry seven times until it is game over, meanwhile SNES only has 2 and you have three health bars to begin until the do you want to continue screen, honestly we needed more and rhe easy version bejng exclusive to the 1st two levels is a crime but then again my opinion
SMD version is better overall (video, gameplay and sound quality), but music/OST is better in SNES version.
Mega Drive version is up to 1 player only. SNES version is up to 2 players at a time.
I loved genesis ver BGM.
Snes has better sound but Genesis definitely looks better and it is obvious more effort was put onto it too when it comes to the story bits.
@bee boo ewww you are disgusting and sound "a little" salty.
@bee boo Real quick, I hope, hope, hope you have calmed down over the years.
I personally own a Genesis, a PS1, and an Atari 2600. Yes, sega has done alot of shitty dumb things, but you know. They had higher quality pixels when it comes to th 16-bit era. They had amazing games for the time, and you just dont want to accept that.
I believe both Nintendo and Sega fucked up alot, but I wil continue to support everything they bring to the table and not fight over who is who's favorite.
Gameplay, music, and visual-wise is a true curbstomp in the Mega Drive's favor. Other than that, it's very close. Oh, and tossing trolls out a glass elevator is satisfying as hell.
+Pooper2471 Are there two different stages being shown in this video or is it that the games stage design is completely different on each version?
That one's perfecto! Even accurate to some of the episodes!
I actually agree, the SNES version has choppy and stiff animation, where the SG version is smooth as silk. Plus the SG version is the better playing brawler. It has the better soundtrack too.
The MD version is faster and collision feels a lot better for whatever reason.
Sometimes you can punch through enemies without connecting on the MD version, hit detection is not perfect at all. The SFC version seems to have that issue with the first stage boss, after that, not at all.
Even Sailor Moon can't escape the boopy-ness of the SNES, I love it
Mega Drive Won!
Nope; it's one player only! The Super Famicom version definitely won due to having a two player feature.
Mega Drive lost in gameplay mode.
The sound quality on SEGA is SHIT. Embarrassing
I prefer the mega drive version because I like the music better in the mega drive version
The Genesis version wins, great game on either system.
Genesis version has no co-opplay,someone majorly screwed up there, so no, it doesn't win. It is however an excellent game, that sadly has gotten extremely expensive for a copy of it.
@@Bloodreign1 both games are great, but coplay doesn't make it the better game.
I liked both, but my favorite is The Mega Drive Baby!
I like the theme songs not being synced up, very nice.
👍😎
Great video, both games are good. Unfortunately this video doesn't show that Genesis version is lack of 2 player mode
There’s a Nintendo switch port of ps1 Version
I'd go with Mega Drive, it has much better graphics and sounds overall. In my opinion the SNES seems abit too "upbeat" and Mega Drive looks more "Serious", which is good. I'm just lucky to have a Mega Drive AND the game.
I'm British and the game works!
Sailor Moon was never a serious anime, so the darker tone just doesn't fit.
Better music and sounds? the music is horrible on MD ... and the hit sounds are much better on SNES too
Snes plays just like a Snes game. Slow steady sleep inducing lol.. Mega Drives win this battle
Speed doesn't make a game good, so no. Chances are you've never played both to come to that conclusion, you sound like a fanboy.
Both r great. I love them both.
My personal opinion but I choose super nintendo
Both
I honestly like both versions, slightly differences makes the 90's me want both games! :D
What about resolution? Like 90% of MD games have a superior resolution, almost always 320x224 against 256x224 from the SNES.
Resolution doesn't make or break a game. Sounds like Genesis fanboys are running out of things to compare left. When it comes to this, the fights over. Take the L and move on, and just enjoy the games.
I think the Genesis has better presentation, gameplay, and colors. But SNES still has multiplayer going for it, which is a huge win.
Can someone port the Genesis version of the game to the Sega CD? (With FMV from the anime and Redbook audio if it's possible... )
I do want a OST version of SEGA. SNES has one. And both are different tracks even for stage 1.
sega rules !!! that console adapted more well the anime games
Yet had far less of them than the SFC did.
@@Bloodreign1 Because the Genesis sold poorly in Japan.
It is very difficult to choose which is the best , oof
According to me both are great animations and sound even levels both have their unique levels, but what I find only thing which is better on mega is the character response in fast however in SNES it founds slight laggy or slow which makes you hard to fight if enemy is near you because before your char. Respond the enemy hit you and that's what SNES fails other wise both are great in other ways I gave them equal points🍹🍷
I want both of them to play on my Super Retro Trio
Genesis version = uncensored
SNES = Censored
"best graphics goes to Sega Genesis!"
"Best presentation goes to Sega Genesis!
"Best music & sound goes to Sega Genesis!"
"Best gameplay goes to Sega Genesis!"
"Best sailor Moon game Goes to Sega Genesis!"
Eu prefiro as duas
1.-Should I play both games or is one enough?
2.- Is there any continuity in SNES games?
MD version is just too expensive for it's going rate these days. Yes, the SFC version plays slower (corrected in the next game, Sailor Moon R), and it's the version I own as it's affordable, but the MD version being so expensive means I'll never own a copy....unless I get lucky like occasionally I tend to do.
The two games however, couldn't be more different to compare.
Man I managed to snag a copy back when this comment was written, and now its going for DOUBLE the price now. Sad to see scalpers take up every facet of retro game collecting. It just isn't that fun to collect anymore
SNES is missing all those amazing animations due to its low resolution.
It has plenty of animations, get your eyes checked.
snes version is one year older.
SNES :D
8:18 pls dont cry
Ambas versiones están buenas
Watching by this video mega drive wins, but snes have a lot of other sailor moon games at street fighter style and this final fight style, and others like puzzle and rpg
Best music on snes. Best graphics on mega drive.
Best music on genesis Best graphics om snes
@@datboidre2212 Best music on snes. Best graphics on mega drive.
@@mixerjdp best music on mega drive best graphics on snes
Volto a Repetir Marota me lembra Rei Hino...só pra constar.
I always wanted an ntsc version, Only with major changes. 1. She is always angry 2. Bosses are angry too 3. It's all english
Nothing like throwing Nintendo fanboy trolls out the window! Mega Drive wins!
SNES ❤️
Mega Drive wins this time.
And it will happen again with game show adaptations. You know, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, & Family Feud.
On a system with 3 Streets of Rage games with co-op, yet this one does not possess that at all. It wins nothing, other than being a pretty game, like the other brawlers for the series.
Amazing
I prefer the Snes version, much more colorful and with better music.
They are not exactly the same games though
Yeah, the SNES is not the same game because it can't hack the awesome animation intro of the Mega Drive.
Vasilios As me to just the snes version sega has a different story
Sega 4 Life
looks like different games and differents animatios sega have some great animations ,snes other great animatios
Genes-*AHEM* Mega Drive version is the best version.
True dat plus the music is fire
Nope, no co-op play, a key essential to a belt scroller beat em up. That right there absolutely puts the stake in the MD version's heart. Blame Arc Systems Works for that huge oversight.
Resolution way better on MD. SNES version looks like an 8-bit game.
Both run at 256x224p
@Ebay - Actually the SNES is a 8-Bit-console. :D
Technically, the SNES uses the same res as the NES, sooooo yeah
MrZillas, the SNES/SFC is a 16 bit console, where the hell did you get your info?
I'm convinced you are incredibly blind or stupd at this point Eben335.
wow genesis has surprisingly clear audio in this game.
SNES has better sound, but Genesis has better graphics. It's a tough call.
Sega Genesis Wins
Genesis versions wins slightly
Novamente eu não consigo entender, VCDECIDE, consegue explicar porque a versão do Snes é tão lenta? Jogabilidade do mega é bem melhor.
Pelo processamento do SNES
Playing mega drive now, I think I am on the last level, I am playing with Sailor Mars.
I don't really see how people can say the SG soundtrack is better when it sounds so bland, it's not even as catchy
@@Bloodreign1 Nintendo trounced Sega in the console war? That happened only in Japan, not in the rest of the world.
maximum carnage fuck...sailormoon rules xD :v
This is an odd case of the SNES having more colors working against it. Also the gameplay is nowhere near as fast paced.
The fasterpacing hurts the MD's version, and is sort of a detriment in Sailor Moon R SFC's case, though the latter is actually balanced better despite being just as fast as the MD's game.
Wow, Mega drive is so better. OMG!
However, the Super Famicom version has 2-player support, which the Mega Drive version lacked.
@@NewGabeOrder And a better balanced game on the SFC version, and a far fairer price tag to buy a copy. Nothing screams hell no not buying this than a $100-200 pricetag that the MD version commands.
Snes better sound
Sega wins
SNES venceu. Nele, possibilidade pra 2 jogadores foi decisivo.
Genesis
Genesis/Mega drive
There more Sailor Moon games on the SNES
in graphics genesis is better, in sound SNES crushes genesis :)
This is a tough choice but I have made my decision and say that the Genesis version is the more superior of the two systems.
RAG TIME. Yeah right. LOL.
Most games of this genre give you an invincibility frame or two while you are attacking one enemy and another attacks, but not this game.
i think snes is better cause it has 2 player mode already making it a superior version cause beat em ups are mostly fun with a friend
Megadrive looks better
Sega fanboys here lol.
