I'm glad you are still finding some Ammonites. If you ever get any rain, perhaps go out when everything is still wet as the rain might 'light up' the fossils making them easier to see in those fields of white dried rocks, it works when agate hunting as the water enhances the colors and details making them a bit easier to spot.

I'm envious of your finds. Our creeks here in western NY are drying up so my granddaughter and I have been searching the tons of rocks. Of course there are no ammonites in this area, but we've found some decent small fossils. Thanks for taking us with you on your hunts. Be careful and safe.

That one with the whole in it is incredible! I also love that little shell. It’s amazing that these creatures were once alive! Love your videos! Still hope you get rain soon!🌸

Record low water makes for great hunting, but it sure is concerning. Love the one with the hole in the middle.

Some of those long round fossils could be burrow holes that was fossilised over time as was found in South Africa . Sand fills up the burrow holes and then fossilises over time.

You took us on another great adventure! "It's sad as heck that there crick is dryin' up" (in my West Virginian voice).. I kept thinking the lighter weight ammonites would be easier to find and laying on top, I was wrong!! When it was hot as h*// with high water at 'The Creek,' most of the big or small ones I saw you find here were never so obvious nor so easy to retrieve! I know you're not an archeologist, but...Keep Diggin' DMI... The best is yet to come!! Safe travels Buddy!!

During the Cretaceous period late in the Mesozoic era North America's topography was affected by high sea levels and little to no polar ice. The epeiric sea known as the Western Interior seaway intruded into the middle of the continent. An equally relevant question would be : Why is limestone the dominant bedrock there? That's why ammonites, grypheae bivalves ("the devil's toenails") and mosasaur teeth are common. The Balcones fault line which I35 traces the path of essentially, delineates an unmistakable trend in Texas bedrock ages. On the east side, bedrock and sedimentary formations go Cretaceous -> Cenozoic -> Quaternary. And on the west side Cretaceous-> Pennsylvanian (Jacksboro)-> Permian (Seymour/Abilene). The only other Mesozoic rocks are a ring of Triassic outcrops that bracket the Caprock/Amarillo area into New Mexico. Rocks from the intervening Jurassic period are absent from Texas both as outcrops and buried formations. It appears that at this time "Texas" geography was dominated by erosion rather than deposition
For a demonstration of the different types of paleoenvironments that dominated Cretaceous Texas vs Triassic Texas here's some footage I took from just outside the city of Dickens.

Wow!!! You got a great haul in this video. The ammonite with the hole in it was incredible and call me crazy but the brachipods you've been finding are super cool, especially the really nice 3D one you found a couple of videos back. Not gonna lie, probably the most awesome fossil was the fish. 👍👍
