When a QB is struggling like GG was, pull him out - even if it's only for a couple of sets. If Nicco was doing better, keep him in. If Nicco was sketchy, then it gave GG time to regroup and put him back in. Don't let feelings get in the way of decisions.
You don’t do that to your starting qb that’s rode for this program like he has. That wouldn’t have won the game. We were outmatched. Simple

Year after year of hearing about all our weapons. Year in and year out not being able to distribute. The one glaring statistic I would like to know the number of botched offensive drives after a turnover. I can't think of one time our offense looked prepared after a quick possession change. We can do without all the window dressing.
We need to have a really good stretch here need to blow out Albany and Pitt and win our games against 22# Kansas and 17# Oklahoma St definitely will determine our season and playoff hopes

Still think we can have a good season, but I won't pretend that wasn't troubling. O-line was ok at best. I like TJ Jackson on the D line. He's way more active than Martin. Offense: no words. The best thing I can say right now, is that Josiah Trotter is our best defensive player already.

Brown is now on an extension from his contract, his record with WVU is West Virginia: 31-30. This stat is all the games he has been a coach Total: 66-46 ; WVU past 6 yrs. been to three. What I am seeing here is a 50% coach. going back to Rich Rodriques, Bill Stewart. and Dana Holgorsen took WVU to bowl games almost double of Neal Brown's record. So I would think of either winning big 12, or at least getting a winning season with what his 50%, 6 wins. Now have anyone seen the next six games we have to play? As of day one of the season, 4 of the six were ranked in the top 20. So we have a tough battle!

At what point will NB stop analyzing why and how we don’t perform against GOOD football teams and actually bring it to fruition. Still have NOT Beat a team that is or was much better than average. We don’t even compete against good football teams. He makes Albany sound like they are in the top 10 for crying out loud… this is embarrassing. We are WVU you know… does that mean anything anymore.
I would guess that when he starts making over double his current salary (like James Franklin does), then he might be in a position to perform better against programs of PSU's caliber. There's a reason programs with the most money rise to the top but WVU fans can't seem to discern why that is so.
There have been plenty of times in our past where we have competed against teams similar to Penn State. Some were as good and some not. NB has not been able to compete with or beat teams that were much better than average in his tenure. At some point he has to stop making excuses. It is year 6 and this is a VETERAN WVU team. Keep that in mind.

Also bowling green leads penn state 17-7 at the start of the second quarter. I’m sure they are more talented than WVU since they are winning. Give me a break. It’s time for NB to go. It’s year 6 and the future for this season looks really really bad. 6 win season coming up??
@@mikedoggett1705 That was a let down game for PSU after all the hype playing WVU. They still ended up winning. Pay attention to the landscape of college football. It's not the same as it used to be and has changed a lot since Brown got here. The "haves" are separating from the "have nots" at an exponential rate. It is only going to get harder for the leftovers of college football to compete against the BIG and SEC.

Looked as though GG was handcuffed and couldn't scramble when the pass wasn't there. Was that because PSU took away the opportunities or was the off season coaching counterproductive in his overall gameplay?
He said Hudson Clement was going to return kick offs and then that didn't happen Trey was back there ? Just like the quarter back play ? Why not let both guys alternate , especially when your not doing a good job at both ! SHM !

His explanation for “going for 2” when it was 27-12 in the 4th is just absolutely ridiculous. Neal, unless you 100% know for sure YOUR play will work against theirs and all 11 know what their role is and can execute that said play to perfection and you’ve seen it, then ok. Go for it. Otherwise, kick it or you’ll always be chasing points

The playing calling is bad, tecmo bowl level basic. But you'll never hear HC Brown say it.

It took me until 1:13 to turn off the video, same broken record year in and year out. Neal is an excellent group of 5 coach send him back.

For years even some of holgerson we use the 3 man D line zone. That explains why brown hasnt beaten a top 25 team in 5 years. Why are you scared to play more man an rush 5 on a run or pass play. Game tape is there. It dont work against really good offense.

Our longest run was 12 yards, we were not successful running. He has no credibility, imo, to say we are better, when we played so poorly in terms of communication and basic fundamentals. That’s a coaching issue. Apparently Albany doesn’t have that issue. To me, our team wasn’t prepared at all. Which is all on the coaching staff. I don’t have a lot of faith in what Neal Brown says anymore, because of how bad the Penn State was, so we will have to see how things look next week.
No team is perfect, nobody expects that, but the more these letdowns happens, the more I feel we won’t ever be a Top 25 team consistently, or ever, under Brown.
He literally makes the same mistakes over and over. The screen passes haven’t worked for 5yrs. Why are you still running them? The awful quarterback sneak? How about you spread the field and let CJ Donaldson get one yard. It’s hard to watch.
I remember when everyone wanted Bill Stewart Gone after going 9-3 three straight seasons….those were the good old days I guess lol. The local media coddles Neal Brown…. not sure why ….hes a bad coach and only beats bad teams, he makes 4 million a year and WVU is an afterthought nationally.

It's not that we lost, it's how we lost. PSU didn't need help, but we helped them along by taking opening kickoff and giving up massive momentum swinging TD before the half. Both were Neal Brown personal errors that should not happen with a seven figure salary.....he makes these and similar mistakes over and over again.

What was really bad was all the perfanity that was chanted during the game by the WVU fans. The network had to turn their volume off. Very sad, disappointing, and embarrassing. Those who don't think it was a problem, your morals ot lack of them is the problem in the world. Grow up people.
Scott this has been a problem for years. I once had season tickets and found I could not take my family any longer. Language and parking lot Nonsense tailgaters made me go TV.

Seriously what universe are you living in WV wasn't even close to beating Penn State. There were questionable calls on both sides. WV was actually gifted 9 points by bad calls. The fourth down that was stop short by two feet. Which ultimately led to a field goal. And the touchdown that was a foot and half short of the goal line. So just stop with the officials cost WV the game. WV was beaten by a more talented and superior opponent.

Penn State is good but our defense made them look like Super Bowl Championships. Penn State will hit a wall in their schedule after they quit playing the cupcakes. The stretch with USC, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Washington will give Penn State at least 2 losses.

I don't like State at all, having said that, I kinda hope they don't hit that wall, I guess maybe if they really are that good then WVU didn't shit the fuck'n bed so badly, and we just found out the hard way ya can't drop wide open passes, or miss the open man, or fumble the ball right back after you get one, and then go on to fumble it a couple more times after that against a team that good... Somehow, though, I can't help feeling they all should have known that already... 🙄 It sucks getting our ass kicked, just gotta have hope they can get better and turn things around I guess!
